Who: Aelita, anyone!
What: New Pokemon that is also learning how to be alive, do chores and commit violence
When: April
Where: The city (Cheri berry guild, the training rooms, beach)
Warnings: Heights? Possible talk of child endangerment and everything about Aelita's background sounds Unfortunate without context.
Cheri Berry Guild
Berry collection
[Having to collect food was one of the many new things to her. Though from what she'd learnt from the others, humans didn't collect food. Her friends had mentioned going to a canteen but Aelita was sure that wasn't as involved as this.
Because she had a small woven basket tied to her back and was nimbly climbed up the thinner branches. Filling it with a few berries, then scurrying back to place them into a larger basket for someone else to collect.
The height didn't bother her. She regularly had to navigate worse when doing her patrols.
What did make her pause was the big berry. Something that had become apparent very quickly was that... She was small, very small. And this berry was more than two inches larger than her. It wouldn't fit in her basket and even if it did, she wasn't sure how much it'd weigh.
Time to return to platforms. Then she darted to the first Pokemon she saw.]
Hello there. Are you busy? I need help carrying something.
Leaving present
[For the last year, Aelita hadn't need to sleep. She'd spent her time looking for Xana activity, helping Jeremie on the materialisation program, talking to Jeremie, browsing the internet when Jeremie was sleeping.
So the first time she fell asleep was... Probably a bit more literal than it should have been.
But she knew better now! She could recognise when she was sleepy and where to go. She'd been given a pile of leaves. A majority of those leaves remained as a bed. The rest? They'd gotten tangled in her curly fur. Though some did fall out when she moved suddenly. Or when the scruffy creature did a full body shake.]

[She just wanted to help. Aelita hadn't liked watching the Minior when they were...in pain? She wasn't sure. But she'd not had the skills to help with their healing process.
What she could help with, was making these catapults. Her little paws were great for tying knots, climbing up and placing delicate parts of the mechanism. She was light enough to avoid brea-

[Aelita didn't fight. She had powers on Lyoko, but those required life points to use and they weren't practical in the same way a sword was. There was a difference between an actual weapon and manipulating the terrain so foes would take themselves out.
Since arriving she'd had a few bursts of power. Shooting off uncontrolled sparks of electricity (her first sneeze). No one had gotten hurt but it was probably better to learn what she could do.
That was how she found herself in the training rooms of the Spire... Now what? She awkwardly waited by the sidelines until another Pokemon seemed to be done, then waddled over with wave.]
Excuse me. Um... How do you know what to do?

Can you really touch it without being destroyed here?
[She'd been sat in the sand for a while, just watching as the waves ebbed and flowed. Though she never got near. When it seemed like the tide was changing, she'd get up and retreat further up the beach and away from the water.
Aelita hadn't even looked at the approaching Pokemon. She'd just spoken without moving her gaze from the water. Those who'd met her before might notice that she was a lot more subdued. She wasn't looking at everything, marvelling at the feel of the sand...just listening and observing the ocean.]
It's beautiful...

Usually she wouldn't speak up unless someone was directly talking to her, but sometimes hard not to be drawn into responding if just that distracted enough. ]
Oh? You seem to be an electric type, so you might end up conducting it more than not if you're not careful...
[ Which probably wasn't exactly what was being asked, but hey, it's an answer to something potentially not rhetorical. Fire types and ground types needed to worry more about it anyway. ]
(ง •̀_•́)ง
she lands next to the much smaller dedenne and glances up when the question is asked, taken out of her concentrated state with a blink. ]
What do you mean? [ she probably isn't the wisest person to be asking this to, but she's all aelita's got. ]

I don't have full control of my output yet, so I shouldn't touch it then.
[Not that Aelita had been planning on going close. Knowledge of how the digital sea functioned couldn't be erased by a few pretty views. Aelita still winced whenever someone made contact with the water.]
no subject
... The water itself shouldn't hurt you, if you wanted to try it out in a smaller portion. There should be some uninhabited mini tide pools nearby, we can go check for them if you'd like.
no subject
Aelita hesitated. Tilting her head from side to side as she thought. ]
How are other pokemon moving the plants? Or the ground? [She'd not been here long. But she'd seen a few things that even she knew wasn't normal.]
I tried doing what I normally do, but I can't sense my surroundings any more.
[It felt a bit like a part of her was missing. She had all these new senses. But she couldn't sense energy flowing around her, couldn't reach for that energy and take control of it.]
no subject
[ not that she has a basis for magic, but magic need not follow any inherent logic. ]
I think we've gotten off on the wrong foot. Sense your surroundings? [ like, sonar? ]

Satchel in tow, he is very literally reaching for low hanging fruit that don't require leaving the platforms. The problem is there's not enough for him to make his quota that way. In the middle of contemplating just quitting while he's ahead, he fur stands on end at the sudden question coming from behind. ]
Uh... huh. [ Another small and scruffy electric rodent. Funny that. ] Sure. What is it?
[ Despite basically saying yes, he is very firmly planted where he is with no intention of moving. ]

When Aelita approaches her, Shoka's instinctual response is much like what she felt the first time she saw Dr. Denne: she freezes, ears perked and eyes wide, and can't help thinking once again that OMG, Dedenne is so stupidly cute and so shaped like a friend. It's extremely unfair. Not for the first time, she's thankful that her shroud conceals any embarrassing faces she might have made.
She had just been finishing repairing a rip in the neck of her costume; now, her ghostly arms disappear under her cat-like disguise rag, taking the needle and thread with them.]
You're gonna have to be more specific.

That's how it was like back where I'm from.
[There was the digital sea. Then there were the oasis and small pools in the desert and ice sectors.]
no subject
Before coming here I could... control the area around me. If I needed a bridge, I could make one. Like that.
[It was slow. She'd never had to explain this before and it'd always came to her. There'd been no need to think about it. ]
no subject
I suppose a move is something like that. If you need an attack, you can probably do it. [ she shuffles away and hurls another aqua jet towards the training dummies. ] See? Yours are probably electric.

Compared to patrolling the mountain sector, the canopy was easy to navigate (no moving platform!). With claws that could grasp the groves of the bark and a long tail to wind around branches? She was almost throwing herself through the treetops.
She swung an arm out the point... At leaves.]
I found a berry, but it's too large for me to carry. [Her arm dropped and she stared for a moment. Looking him up and down.] Oh... You're small too.
no subject
The...fighting. I want to learn how to defend myself.
[Maybe here she wouldn't have to see people get hurt protecting her.]
no subject
... All the way over there?
[ Said with a tone that's basically asking if that's even worth it. Then his attention immediately snaps back to her with a slight frown. ]
Yeah, thanks. I've noticed. [ She sounds young, so he tries to reel it back. ] Don't sell yourself short though. [ Hah. ] The two of us make one regular sized Pokémon. Should be more than enough.
no subject
Aelita just stared for a bit longer. Because that... it really did just sound like people could do these things without thinking. Which admittedly, was how she'd always done things before but...]
So I just...
[She frowned at the training dummy and-
And...
Her little cheek antennae just started giving off little sparks.
Sparks that weren't going anywhere.]
no subject
[ it's a start. she's not sure what else to prod for beyond that, but she can at least be encouraging. ] Try and put a little more into it. Really set your mind on it if you have to.
[ she tilts her head to the side with a supportive smile. ]
I'll be right here to make sure you don't overdo it.
Coastal charms
[Firoza is just around taking a walk. She recognizes this little creature...you were wandering around in the snow with no protection, weren't you? There's vague memories there.]
And if you do not know how to swim, you oughtn't go far into the water. The tide can easily overwhelm.
no subject
[ Still, hard not to tell there's something else underlaying the questions. ]
What other types were you used to?
(ง •̀_•́)ง
It's part instinct and part practice. Are you still figuring out your moves? One of the best ways to learn is by sparring.
no subject
It's away from the path but there are too many leaves for the fliers to reach it.
[She wasn't an expert, but it smelled nice. That was a good sign right.]
Is that how it works? [The head tilt of doubt? Even if she was smiling.] My friend did say 'big things come in small packages'... Then he got called scrawny...[Annnnyway, shaking her head. Moving on.]
It's too big for the baskets.
no subject
Oh. She knew this pokemon, didn't she?]
...What is 'swim'?
[Well, this is going...swimmingly.]
no subject
She leaned forward, trying to make said sparks move forward as well but... No. They just crackled around her antenna.
Tragically, all her moves were close contact.
And now she's flopping on her belly and fizzling out. ]
no subject
You're not giving up already, are you?
no subject
Where I'm from there were two types of water. There are small pools that you can touch, though sometimes it's just a visual illusion. [Given she didn't want to die, she'd not really experimented with them to find out.
The digital sea...that was harder to explain.]
The dangerous one, it's... it's not really water. It just looks and moves like it. [She tilted her head. Looking at the other pokemon, checking if they were following. ]
If you touched it, you'd be absorbed and scattered throughout it's body.
lmao she's gonna die
What is sparring?

Hi! What's the plan? [Kinger seems to have forgotten that he should've been the one making the plan.]

[She isn't sure if that's actually true. Guild Leader Mightyena had always been patient and all too understanding in her experience, after all, even when Shoka didn't deserve it (or maybe especially when she didn't deserve it)—but it's a decent enough excuse.]
So—fine. I guess I can give you some pointers. Have you picked up anything so far?
no subject
And while she hadn't heard of "water" that did something like that specifically, there's still something familiar in the descriptions. The concept of being scattered she knows all too well. ]
Huh... so you were unable to interact with the 'human' world normally...
[ She hates that enough of this is unclear for her to have to ask clarifying questions, but here they are. "Are you a digimon" seems too direct; and likely not the right guess; most she's encountered aside from herself seem to broadcast that immediately. ]
But what you're describing seems more... digital in a way, though I can't say I've encountered water that does that. It sounds more like a firewall. [ All that aside- she'd known water in other forms too. ] Though it being a visual effect makes sense.
and they ded
It wasn't difficult to catch up. Being an orb she was far from aerodynamic.
So she just held the tendril back, turning her head.]
Um... I don't have one.
[Casually.]

But Aelita didn't know what an authority figure was here. Or how to tell which pokemon were even adults.
She didn't even know if she was connected to the supercomputer any more...]
It's not a firewall...[Was there even a point to hiding things? Wouldn't people realise given she'd needed help with basic parts of being alive? That she'd not known she'd needed to sleep.]
It's the digital sea. If you touched it, you'd be fragmented and scattered across the internet.
