[POP GOOS THE WEASEL]

The last time there was any trouble with swarming Pokemon, they came in from the sky. It was a situation that carried two problems- the first being that, back in March, Emporio wasn't nearly confident enough to think about holding his own in a battle, and the second being that with all of the pokemon being airborne, he didn't really have a good advantage to work with.

This time however, things are different. His confidence still isn't fantastic mind you, but a pile of weasel and mongoose pokemon swarming through the streets to cause havoc is a particularly good reason to step up to the plate, so with fists clenched and shaking Emporio pulls on his helmet and lines up with everyone else to plan for attack.

...It occurs to him then, of course, that. Well.

"...I think I still only have normal moves...is that going to be a problem against these guys..?" He feels like the mission request specified 'Normal' type...

[[OOC - To keep things simple, and because of how many are fighting off pokemon in their own teams, this will be a thread-jack friendly prompt! While initially Emporio's team might hold some kind of order, everyone is encouraged to break off into individual threads...Even if it means multiple with the same person, or something. The hope is that this prevents things from stalling on tag-order!]]

[SCATTERED BUG - CLOSED]

It's fairly strange, Emporio thinks, that this quest has appeared on the board again. The first time, he didn't pay it much mind. The second time was a bit odd, but he opted to let someone else handle it. The...third time, well.

"Well, if we're lucky, it won't take us too long to find this," Emporio is explaining to his team mates, a few of whom were with him when he spotted the form at the board. "...But it's kind of worrying that they've lost this pouch so many times..." Ah, well.

Helmet in place, he looks at the others. "I got a lot of information from Anasui about where we can go to get through this part of the forest. It'll cut down our time a lot, and it should make it easier to find what we're looking for! Is everyone else ready?"

[SOCIAL GATHERING - CLOSED (Wooden it be Nice + Clay Clamber) ]

For the rest of the month, there are smaller tasks to busy oneself with. Simple things, little matters that help to contribute to the general upkeep of the city over all. Wood, for those bridges that Emporio's pretty sure came a part because of Anasui's work- Emporio shows up at that one with familiar fellows indeed, ready to make good use of what he's learned as a Pokemon.

Clay on the other hand is a bit more interesting. When it comes to gathering clay, Emporio shows up to the task and finds himself staring at the underwater deposit they're meant to be gathering from. He slowly turns his head to look at the three with him. "...Will this really be okay..? It's salt water, right?"

He might not have thought this entirely through...

Pop Goos the Weasel - TEAM ANGRY BIRD (Akechi, Ren, Siffrin, and Firoza)

It's an oddball team, to be sure. Ren and Akechi have worked together extensively, and Akechi and Siffrin met at the clinic, so there's at least some rapport. Firoza seems kind and intelligent, to say nothing of type diversity.

Akechi regards his teammates with the sternness most have come to expect. "They're normal types, so if anyone knows fighting type moves, that will be key. Otherwise, status moves and other tactics can make up for the lack of super effective hits."

So he'll start by beating his wings to whip up a Tailwind.

Akechi stares down at the water. It's not that he can't handle it, per se, but he isn't a waterfowl. Swimming is... an interesting challenge, made more difficult considering Emporio and Firepaw's typing.

A frown crosses his beak. "It may be best to minimize your time underwater. Likewise with Firepaw-kun. Alternatively, those of you weak to water could always focus on drying and processing the materials..."

But whatever they do, they should plan carefully.

[But he's gone off and done his Tailwind, and she can feel the woosh of speed behind her - almost like a Peloton buff, really. And by the "Fighting" type...well, she isn't quite at the level to learn Double Kick for real, but...]

Ah - nevermind. I'll distract some!

[She darts towards a pack of Yungoose and...it occurs to many, perhaps, that Firoza's not one to show off or make use of her poisonous barbs in daily life. Here? Oh, everything is absolutely stuck out and ruffled as she slams into rodent after rodent, some yelping in pain from Poison Point as she grazes them, others just looking pissed that this blue bucktoothed weirdo just barreled into the fray. She manages to get three Yungoose to focus on her and shouts,] Hit them! I'll keep their focus!

[You can take the tank stance out of the tank...but never the instinct to tank stance.]

[It's hard to say how much attention Siffrin is paying. It's not that they're joking around or slacking off or causing a disruption, but they don't seem... entirely present, unless someone addresses them directly? Their tail lies limply, with a very occasional aggravated lash.]

[The Tailwind makes their ears flicker - their eyes finally focus for a moment, on Akechi. That feels like a skill they used to have. It'd be nice to have it back - they wonder if Akechi could teach it to them somehow, even though they don't have wings?]

[...but no, what does it matter?]

[Whatever's going on with them, they do react when Firoza takes off running, bolting after her and tearing into the weasel Pokemon from the side. They don't have any Fighting moves, or any especially reliable ways to inflict statuses, but they seem to be trying to make up for it in how viciously they're distributing their Bites and Thunder Shocks. They're using Quick Attack to bounce between the weasels before they can turn to respond - it's not entirely intentional, but it means Firoza can easily regain their attention. Tanking!]

"I can go in a few times - if I get tired I'll switch to drying."

He's eager to show off his swimming skills, in an appropriate setting where someone is around to help if he runs into trouble. A lot of the quests this month have to do with water, so he's just accepted that he's going to have to get wet.

"Oh, this is going to be fun." Akari said darting around the trees and few pieces of already fallen wood. "Like, I can heat treat this stuff."

"Can you maintain a steady temperature for that long?"

It's a genuine question as he follows after her. It's, what, apply even heat for at least half an hour, don't go too high or accidentally set it on fire? A lot of fire-types don't always have the best control over their flames, especially when they're both not fully evolved and this new to being one.

The Ring-Spirit blandly surveys the scene. "Our opponents are 'normal'-type, so if your moves are all normal too then they should all work as expected."

He then thinks back on his previous studies in the Archives, letting himself get a tad distracted. "...If I'm remembering correctly, ghost-type moves are unlikely to do anything, though... I think ghost-types are immune to normal moves, but we'll also have to remember not to try using our own ghost moves on them either..."

"I am ready!"

Emmet's out on one of those several ocean-based missions today. It seemed like the perfect time for Ingo to get in some questing of his own! Perhaps...perhaps especially in the forest. He needs to face it again, but that does not mean he should drag Emmet along with him! Not after their last disastrous trip!

He does want to get through this as fast as possible, though. Sooner in, sooner out, and sooner back to meet Emmet before he gets home!

"Are we supposed to actually be heat treating anything..?" is of course Emporio's own reply, as he watches Akari at work.

He's got his helmet on, right now. His plan is very simple, perhaps a bit fool-hardy, but to be fair he's aimed for a spot in the woods where the trees might actually fall to his 'wrath'.

"I thought the first priority was just breaking everything apart..."

She held a nub up at Emmet.

"Well, it would be good training for me to be a better fire type." then back at Emporio.

"We got three Pokémon here, it will take us like what, 15 minutes to break enough wood?"

[Ren takes note of Siffrin's... mental absense, but doesn't comment on it. Not yet, anyway. He doesn't know them well enough to say if this is normal or not.

With Akechi's tailwind, however, everyone shoots into action-- including Ren. He's relieved to note that Siffrin at least seems to be a decent enough, attentive fighter. He was a little worried about that for a moment...

With a dash, he sends a sprawl of Leech Seed into the crowd, catching at least some of the Gumshoos and Zangoose off-guard and seeding them. Nice. He breathes a sigh of relief as the seeds start leeching HP of the normal types, relieving some of the chronic ache in his joints.

When Firoza yells, Ren briefly turns to her, then back to his opponents.]

Roger that!

[With Firoza distracting them, Ren is free to raise his attack and accuracy with Hone Claws, before he leaps into action with a nasty Leafage. He, too, has no fighting type moves, but that's not going to stop him from kicking ass.]

They really didn't think signing up to this quest through, huh... Ren was just eager to do as much as he could. That said, he's not weak to the water like Emporio and Firepaw, even if he's coming to find more and more that it's hell on his fur. Not to mention, the cold water is probably going to agitate his joints...

Well, they're here now, and he's going to do the best job he can.

"No worries. I'll swim with you. Don't overdo it-- there's other things to do than swimming." He turns to Emporio. "Akechi's right; sounds like processing the materials is probably your best bet. Akechi," he says, turning to his- whatever they are, now. "You think you're up for a dive?"

[outbounds]

"The city is always in need of supplies. Somewhere, somehow."

Which means that the more wood, the better, probably. Three Pokemon, albeit one of them with a limited moveset ... Don't go too overboard knocking things over, Emporio.

"I take it. I am cutting and splitting the logs, then?"

[Ren isn't the only one preparing some Hone Claws. With his small size and light weight, every bit of an edge counts, and so he carefully maneuvers through the air, letting the others draw the initial attention from their opponents...

But he doesn't dive in to attack just yet, instead diving in with a mad cackle and a unleashes his best Scary Face to lower the enemies' mobility.

While it doesn't effect all of them, some of the Gumshoos and Zangoose do falter at the sight of a speedy, cackling orb...

And so Akechi dives in, finally hitting one of the Zangoose with a well-timed Drill Peck.]

[Oh, this turned out a lot better than...well, than I expected. Firoza's just pleased it's turning out well.]

Excellent! Keep it up!

[And then-

Oh. She forgot she could do Double Kick for real. Well let's do some of that, followed up by a Fury Swipes that somehow seems to catch every opposing Pokemon she can reach, at least a little bit. Keep making them angry, keep their focus on her, be relentless, be sturdy...]

And don't hold back!

[It is going well! Until it isn't.]

[In the middle of another Quick Attack, Siffrin gets clipped by a Zangoose's claws and goes skidding across the ground rather than reaching their intended target. They stagger to their feet quickly enough, but it seems to have made them decide that this particular Zangoose is a problem and they need to focus on it.]

[They're not even entirely wrong - the Zangoose apparently took inspiration from Ren and has been repeatedly using Hone Claws itself, every time it's forced back from the front of the skirmish. But...]

[Siffrin leaps and latches on to its neck with a Bite - and refuses to let go, electricity sparking over their fur, back legs kicking and tearing at the Zangoose's stomach furiously. The Zangoose is clawing right back at them, inflicting at least as much damage, but they don't seem to care.]

[guilmon]

"Um... Guilmon can dig and breathe fire... and make lots of smoke, too!" He looks around, puzzling over what to do. "Maybe I should do that first? Then we can get super sneaky!"

[seacub]

"Mnnh..." Bugger. Emporio rubs his face, but nods all the same. "I guess so... ...I'm not really sure drying too much will be too good an idea, but I could probably at least...help to find the best ways to store it..?"

As he says that, he dips a toe in the water. Salty? Fresh? One of the two is definitely better...

"We have the cloth for wrapping this stuff in at least, right?"

"We'll break an amount of wood in that time, at least." The more wood, the better??

Anyway. The cubone takes aim at a nearby tree, tapping a foot in place for a moment. "Cutting and splitting seems like something you'd beat us at at least!"

"I made sure to pack some in my satchel." His satchel, which will be wet if he doesn't remove it first.

Just give him a moment to do that, so he can set it aside a safe distance from the water.

Once that's done, he stretches his wings in preparation for the descent. Once that's done, he turns to Ren. "I should be able to manage the dive well enough. At the very least, I don't have a weakness to water."

Firepaw goes to sniff the water - it's saltwater, but more importantly it smells stagnant. Great, he's going to have to clean old, muddy, salty water out of his fur later.

"Are you going to be able to go underwater, though?" He glances at Akechi, "I thought birds were too light, and they'd just float..."

Either way, he's diving in first, grabbing one of the nets in his teeth and doggy-paddling into the middle of the pool before going down. He can't hold his breath well, so he's going to be coughing and snorting when he comes back up, but he's being powered by pure determination.

Siffrin!

[Ren's quick to come to their aid, catching the Zangoose off-guard with a Sucker Punch to the back while it's clawing at Siffrin, dealing a good bit of damage. Just as quickly, though, he has to dodge out of the way of one of the other Zangoose's Slash, and Ren hisses as it clips him in the side.

His joints ache, as does the slash wound. He needs more healing-- but if he doesn't start dealing big damage now, he's going to be in trouble, too, forced to dodge and weave between attacks. He starts readying his seeds, adrenaline coursing through his system. It's meant to be a Leech Seed, but--]

Get back!

[He growls, and to his surprise, when he launches the seeds, they don't just latch onto the Zangoose-- rather, they explode with a bang. It knocks the Zangoose right out, and sends some of the others scattering out of the way.

He doesn't quite realize it yet, but he just figured out how to use Seed Bomb.]

Yeah Emil, I am sure you can do it.

[Yup, her teasing of Emmet still continues.]

I can break down a lot too. Maybe we can do a whole buttload, and then Emmet can stay busy while we get that wood treated.

...Firepaw raises a fair point. A very fair point. He is not a waterfowl, nor other birds known for their ties to the sea.

He looks down at his talons, and then he looks to Ren. "If need be, I can hold onto Ren and grab additional clay with my beak."

It's not ideal, but he does need to take into account the limitations of his current body.
