HOME ON ARRANGE
So, whoever Noelle is, he's assuming she's no older than her teen years. Even Anasui knows that kids need to socialize with kids, Emporio supposes.
And, willing to admit it or not, Anasui does care.
Thus, when Emporio arrives at the designating meeting point for those intending to work with Abomasnow, his eyes soon land on the deerling roughly his size. It takes a moment, but....]
...Are you 'Noelle'?
no subject
[She normally would go for a handshake or something... but instead, she just nods her head.] I spoke to Anasui. He said you also help out at the clinic, right?
no subject
...I guess if you talked to Anasui, that explains how you guessed my name...probably...
[He DID just do the same thing.]
I'm doing my best at least. Anasui was actually in med school before he got arrested, so he had some experience before we got here... ...Mostly, I've just been learning what I can.
[Anyway, they're not here to do a clinic shift.]
...I haven't learned a lot about construction though, so this should be fun.
[Oh Boy!]
no subject
... Wait, what was that Emporio said about Anasui getting arrested???
She doesn't know how to ask, but then it's time to start working, so she doesn't. Abomasnow, fortunately, is less scary than they look; in fact, they remind her of one of her teachers. They're passionate and knowledgeable, and Noelle finds that admirable. She winds up fetching supplies a lot, not able to do much else.]
Um, I also don't have any real formal education in medicine. Just stuff I've looked up, you know, some articles here and there. Were you in school, Emporio? [He seems like he might be an elementary schooler...?]
me crawling back a week later like 'oh that week hit more than expected...'
[He's the only one with hands... ...That's a lot of pressure.
Fortunately, Abomasnow seems keen on making them something of a parcel delivery pair, through the use of one helping to load up the other. Phew.]
That makes sense. Uh- I mean, you can correct me, but you don't sound too old..?
[It's just a guess though!] I never went to school though. I just read a lot.
im feeling this lately.
Uh, thanks, I guess? [She laughs awkwardly at his comment.] I was 16, so... what about you?
its august...i blame august....
[Th...That's!!! Alarming!
Anyway excuse him he'll strap these on your back Noelle.]
12! ...I think by my math...I'll be 13 around new years? I'm just going to count it when I normally do, in February though.
FUCK august.
Well... at least you can read and know your basics, right? Did they not have school where you came from? I met someone from a world that was like, more medieval, sort of.
no subject
Yep! I read as much as I could, including the encyclopedias and manuals.
[The straps for the wood are secure! Let's move that luggage.]
Mnh, no, they had schools. I just couldn't go.
[It's fine don't worry about it]

Oh. Well, it was too dangerous to leave the prison...so it was pretty much impossible.
[It's fine don't worry about it!
He brings a hand...paw? Mitt? To his chin, as he thinks more heavily on it.]
...In hindsight, I kind of wonder if I could have snuck my way into online schooling... ...but I got the feeling I was ahead of the curriculum anyway, so...
no subject
...
[She's truly speechless, her mouth hanging open in surprise.]
... oh, I see...?
no subject
Trust me when I say, I'm a very unique case in that regard..! ...Honestly even the jail itself counts as a unique circumstance...the ghost rec room was really nice, I think it might have been the old library.
no subject
...
W-well. I'm glad you're... okay? Fahaha...
no subject
[He's rapidly growing aware of how awkward the situation is!]
A-Anyway, it's been a lot nicer being here, and we even get to see a whole town get built now..! That's cool, right?
no subject
no subject
[Mixed?? Bag???
But in the interest of maybe keeping the conversation on good things-] What was your hometown like?
no subject
... it's pretty small, but nice! Or, uh, it was. [She's not used to thinking about it in past tense...] It was mostly a monster town, though Kris was a human. They're-- I mean, they were my next door neighbor. Umm, there was a little lake and a forest that I used to explore in with Kris and... well, family and stuff. It was a great place to live!
Actually, my mom was the mayor, so I guess I'm a little biased.
no subject
[Part of him things of others he's talked to that made those kinds of clarifications, but, Flowey in particular never mentioned any towns that shared with humans, so this is probably very different.]
Huhhh...
I mean, it sounds nice..! I don't know that having a parent in politics would increase bias that much in this case at least...
no subject
... um, the monsters are friendly. It's kind of like this, except a lot of us stood on two feet and wore clothes and stuff. And didn't have powers. I guess I should've clarified. It doesn't seem like we're that common across the other worlds...
no subject
[The idea of academic expectation is, for better or worse, lost on him.
Emporio nods along though, listening as they move the load of construction materials along.]
It sounds kind of like...Monsters and humans were basically the same, but with different appearances then? ...It seems pretty human for humans to separate themselves out like that anyway.
Uh.
If that makes sense. [He's defined a word with the word in the definition, he's very sorry.]
no subject
[Does this sound familiar, Emporio? Flowey said something similar.]
no subject
This is definitely someone from a world like Flowey's. Maybe the future?? Mayors are more of a modern (ish) thing, so he can't see her being from before any...mountain business, however that went.
But also.
He would be exposing this poor deerling to Flowey.
...
Emporio decides not to say anything about that!] I see...
...I guess that's pretty definitive in that case. Th-though, surviving without a soul seems...
[Flowey seems to be a rather bizarre exception to the rule, and given his experiences back home, he's inclined to agree.
People without Stands died.
Fast.]
What would even remove a soul though...
no subject
Umm... surgery...? Haha. Like I said, it's really uncommon. Sorry, weird topic.
[She's getting into a good rhythm of working and talking at the same time. Maybe Archnemon was right-- she can be helpful! That's a nice feeling.]
Anyway! What kind of stuff do you do for fun, Emporio? Besides helping out in the clinic. I know you do that! [Right. Normal conversation. She should work on that, next.]
no subject
What would that even be to treat...
[He can't help but mutter that curiosity aloud, sorry. But anyway!]
Oh. Uh...I guess I like reading a lot?
...I didn't really have much else to do before. I would sometimes throw a baseball around, but that was always alone. ...I was told it'd be a good idea to uh...maybe try playing it again here but...
[He's not really sure that's going to work out with so many quadrupeds.]
