[CLOSED] Lay low, clutch your limbs forever
Who: Umemiya, Guilmon, Anasui
What: Expedition: Blue
Where: Out in the wilds
Warnings: None yet
Umemiya, for his part, is clearly excited and eager for his first big mission since arriving. He's hopping from foot to foot, making sure he's got the balance of the pack on his back in mind. "Just be sure you stick close to me, if you're hurt. I might not have the same healing chops as the clinic, but Life Dew is better than nothing."
He just hopes he can squeeze enough uses out of it for the whole trip. He'll need to be discerning, at least in the beginning.
"We've got this, I'm sure."

He had reviewed the mission several times already and while there's nothing particularly dangerous in the description, he had taken precautions. The Espathra's long neck bends to the satchel around his body and pulls out two brown scarves and passes one to each of his companions.
"...Once you two are dressed, let's go. We don't know what's out past this outpost, so be on your guard."
no subject
It's important to be polite, especially with teammates. Fortunately, he does get the scarf on after some fumbling.
"Guilmon's a fire type, so I can keep you extra warm!"
This may not be especially good for a Lucario, but shh. He doesn't know that.

"Sounds like a plan. Let's get going." He knows Steel is weak to Fire, but he's also strong against Ice. He isn't going to need the warmth the way Anasui might. He's being optimistic about it.

Admittedly, it's not a bad walk despite the denseness of the trees and it is a nice change of pace to have companions that aren't tiny. For all the grief he gave Guilmon in their first meeting, Guilmon and Umemiya were both tall enough that they won't fall behind him by just walking.
Not being a fan of small talk, Anasui won't talk as they walk. He just keeps his eyes up and stays on guard. He will notice the heavy clouds overhead. Seems like it will rain or snow any second...
Or worse...

His nostrils twitch as he sniffs the air.
"Maa... I think the weather's gonna change soon. The air feels all wet."
no subject
Even as he says that, the first quarter-sized balls of hail begin their descent, as if he jinxed it.
no subject
"Damn hail..." Anasui growls. He glares at some hail flying past him and zaps it with his psychic powers as if that would do something. As a reward, he is immediately jabbed in the eye by more hail. "Damn hail!"
no subject
"Wah! Not like that! Not like that!" Hastily, he starts scooping up dirt to throw at the spreading flame. Thankfully, he's quick enough that he snuffs it out before it can expand too far.
"Maybe we should have packed helmets..."
no subject
There's a couple of almost half-hearted attempts to knock hail away before it hits him, but Umemiya covers his face with his paws and forges ahead.
no subject
"If we get knocked out due to hail, I'll never hear the end of it," Anasui mutters. What a stupid way to die.
The hail is aggressive and only getting moreso. Anasui frowns. He has to be able to do something about this. As they forge ahead, Anasui focuses on his two companions and tries to manifest his psychic powers. There's a flicker in the sky and for a split second it looks like there's some sort of barrier between the group and the hail.
no subject
Not that the hail cares, but the barrier does seem to be hindering its assault. Though Guilmon winces, he picks up the pace.
"Maybe we just have to find a Pokémon and make them stop."
It'd be nice, anyway. Better than the weather just being that way.
no subject
And they can't be sure this is anyone's doing, actively.
no subject
As the hail gets harder and there's less cover, Anasui doubles his efforts to use his psychic powers. It takes him a few tries but eventually he manages to get a barrier up, which is somewhat similar to Reflect. It's rather small and not a perfect barrier but it absorbs the brunt of the oncoming hail.
"Stay close. I don't know how long this hailstorm will go for..."
no subject
Whatever's causing it, at least there's a way to fix it next time. ...If there's a next time, but he hopes there isn't.
