Tenna October Catch-All
Who: Tenna, Archnemon, the people doing the TV Studio Quest, and YOU?!
What: Quests, general interactions
When: Throughout October
Where: Cheri Berries guild, Bottlecap Bay + surrounding areas, and wherever the wildcard takes us
Warnings: (Potential) Deltarune chapter 3 spoilers, Tenna's volatile emotions. Will add more as they come up.
1. Woodn't You know It (Closed to Archnemon)
Though he's already gathered wood earlier, Tenna isn't quite done! A combination of helping the city and his selfish little TV studio project, he enlisted the help of a curious little Pokemon who appears to have stolen his name. Hatenna?! He doesn't even wear a hat! That little misunderstanding aside, the company is welcome, at least. As long as she doesn't comment on him squirreling away some extra wood for his studio...
2. A TV-Tastic Studio! (Open)
Tenna's practically giddy when he gets the okay to build his studio, and he doesn't waste any time, immediately diving into the work... only to quickly realize he can't quite do this alone. He's used to having a whole crew at his disposal, so within a few hours, he's put up a quest asking for help. Over the course of the month, Pokemon come and go to help him out, and those that sign up are quick to realize he's running a tight ship! Despite his usually excited demeanor, he's very serious about what he wants and how things are built, which may come as a surprise to those who thought he was just a TV personality. This TV knows how to command a crew, that's for sure. Not to mention, any Pokemon unfortunate enough to linger may get pushed into working anyway...
"Hello! Are you here to help me build my new studio? WONDERFUL! Just follow me over here, please- I'll show you what to do!"
3. Ribombee's New favorite (Open)
To those living in the Cheri Berry guild, it has... rather quickly become apparent that Ribombee has come to consider Tenna one of his new favorites. He always has time for Tenna's (sometimes rather bizarre) requests, and while not all of them get the okay, many of them do. Within days of being recruited into the guild, Tenna's bedding has received an upgrade, and construction on a roof over his head has already started! Worst of all, Tenna himself seems to not even notice Ribombee's blatant favoritism. He has nothing but good things to say about the guildmaster whenever he's asked.
At least that means he's happy in the guild, and cheerfully greets his fellow Pokemon. If he notices them giving him the stink-eye... he's trying very, very hard not to show it.
4. Wildcard!

Ribombee's New Favorites
"Adjusting well, I take it?"
no subject
"Why hello! Yes I am, thank you very much!" he says, turning around. "I don't believe we've met, so allow me to introduce myself," he bows with a flourish. "I am Mr. Ant Tenna, but you can just call me Tenna!"
He springs upright again, putting his appendage up to his face conspiratorically with a stage-whisper.
"But maybe you already knew that!"
no subject
She puts it forward in the most neutral way possible.
"I'm Agnes, also new to the Canopy."
no subject
"He does, doesn't he? Ribombee is such a gracious host, I'm so glad he's enjoying my company!"
Definitely not neutral. Is he ignoring the 'rumors' part...?
He blinks, then extends an appendage in greeting.
"Anyway- Agnes, was it? It's a pleasure meeting you." he smiles widely. "Phew, at least we're not in this strange situation alone! It almost feel like some sort of... adventure show! Oh, I have to write that down somewhere..."
no subject
"You seem to be making the most of things."
no subject
"Well, that's the least I can do, isn't it?" he hums, patting his bed. "It's a new world with new opportunities!" With no crew, and (almost) nobody who knows him, and no knowledge of TV...
... it's fine! "No time to dawdle! I'm sure you know how it is."
IT'S *TV* TIME! - ft. Siffrin
So TV has never been something he's all that interested in.
That doesn't mean he's not interested in seeing someone make a studio for TV though. How is that even going to work?? There's no electricity in that sense here?? Yet here he is, accompanying who he thought was Siffrin (and apparently it...Is? Siffrin? Different Siffrin. Pearls have made things more confusing than he anticipated), all the way out to...
...Well, it looks like a miraculously empty (mostly) lot. Nice score, Tenna.
Upon hearing the volbeat's cheer, Emporio nods- his helmet hanging on his back like a bag. "Uh- Yes! That's what we're here for...It's nice to meet you?"
no subject
"Sorry! I got so excited about your help that I completely forgot to introduce myself! How very rude of me!" He clears his throat, and strikes a... T-pose? "My name is Mr. Ant Tenna! But you can just call me Tenna. Now, what should I call you two?"
1
What does raise a (metaphorical) eyebrow is that some of the wood they're gathering don't all seem to be going into the designated supply boxes. Why does he keep wandering off... she doesn't comment on it at first, but she can tell there's an energy about him...
"Was there something extra to this assignment that I missed?"
It's clearly an innocent question, mostly as she tries to gauge his intents by seeing how he responds (and what his emotions may imply).
no subject
Then, he grins, and it's like nothing was ever wrong in the first place.
"No, not at all!" he says with a smile. "Why, you've been doing an excellent job so far! I've really been enjoying your help, dear Hatenna!"
no subject
"Well, of course. Being helpful is why I'm here, after all."
Very carefully. She can tell she would have to wait for him to let his guard down before trying again at that angle. Fluff an ego a bit, she can do that a bit too well.
"And you seem very enthusiastic for getting this all done, yourself."
no subject
Which is true! He's being genuine! It just... probably doesn't sound as much when he's been squirreling away wood for his own benefits...
no subject
Which may or may not be true, but that was terrible and she knows it. Still, it's in her hopes that by the way her companion has been speaking, that he might be further disarmed by it instead.
"Did anything strange happen before he approached you? He seems to have a knack for recruiting...~ unique individuals."
no subject
He's a little surprised by her next question, though. He tilts his head a little, questioning.
"Hm? Not that I know of- unless you want to count everything going on here." The strangeness does seem par for the course. "I, for one, am glad that someone was able to recognize my talents!"
no subject
"Are your talents not usually recognized? Or... did you have something much more glamorous going on from where you were before?"
no subject
This has gotten very serious very suddenly. Tenna looks positively glooby.
As soon as he realizes, though, he paints his smile back on, and it's as if the serious mood was never there in the first place.
"But it's all good now! I was given hope, and Susie and Kris, they promised me they'd find me a new home- though I suppose that's moot, now that I'm here. Not that I'm complaining, I get to teach everyone here the joy of TV!"
no subject
Still, she did not like the feeling that she could relate to that feeling too. Of knowing when she was "no longer needed", feeling her value decrease no matter how much she tried to cling to relevance. What a different life. Ugh, emotions were annoying-- she pushes away the thought much as he shifts the subject.
"Well, that is what's important after all of that, right?"
It's not her job to reassure, but it seems better to keep him steered around whatever might trigger an emotional pitfall. "You can reach all kinds of new audiences without waiting for someone else to do it for you."
no subject
... But he can't do that if he doesn't have a studio! And for a studio he needs materials! He almost forgot what they were here for!
"Well! I suppose we better get back to work! These logs aren't going to prepare themselves!"
no subject
She can appreciate someone choosing to be more proactive than wallowing in their perceived fate. At the very least it means she's more able to assist than to be slowed down by fatigue.
Even if of course, the amount she's able to gather is a bit more limited than what he might bring around, it doesn't stop her from putting in the effort, anyway.
Sorry for the delay! brain fog happened
So they both get back to work. Tenna's clearly putting in the effort to get as much as he can- and he takes note of Hatenna's efforts too, of course! Well, she is smaller than him, and lacks proper arms, so he can't exactly blame her for not getting as much as him. But she's still doing good!
... Of course, he continues putting some wood aside for his own use. He doesn't see anything wrong with it- he's a resident of the Bay as much as anyone else! If he puts in the effort on his own, it's fine, right? That's what Ribombee said, either way!
No worries!
"Look at you, almost double the work. They're not offering you more of a prize you know..."
It's almost said is the light tone of a joke since it's not exactly a competition... right? Just her way of observing what he did there. With all the extra. Without exactly saying it. She can be subtle.
no subject
"I can't make my dreams come true if I don't have the materials to build my new studio!" he says, pointing at the sky as if striking a victorious pose. What a weirdo. "If I just gather enough, TV Time will be coming straight from your house before you know it!"
no subject
"Oh? You probably would want to reach out to those two that run the grumpearls. Find out if any other networks can be created than that standard, annoying, psychic one."
Regularly scheduled broadcasts for entertainment, surely that wasn't a terrible idea.
2. A TV-Tastic Studio! (with Anasui)
"Kinger reporting for duty!" Kinger says cheerfully as Tenna approaches with their tasks.
no subject
"Anasui, here," Anasui says simply, looking right down at the Volbeat. "What do you need done, Tenna?"
no subject
"Kinger and Anasui! Lovely to have you, truly!" He ushers them along the lot, towards the crew of working pokemon. "But there's no time for chit-chat! TV-Time Studios(tm) isn't gonna build itself! Anasui, why don't you-" he points towards rows of heavy, carved trees that a medium sized, muscled pokemon is dragging towards the lot, "-go help Gurdurr over there with those? We need them to make a proper foundation. And you-" he turns to Kinger, "-follow me! We need to make sure the foundation is level, and you seem like the mushroom- er, pokemon for the job!"
no subject
Kinger scuttles over to the foundation and sticks his left and right mushrooms out to the sides and sways back and forth, trying to be a living level and make sure it's not at an angle.
"I don't know if this is working!" Kinger says cheerfully.
no subject
He's never lifted something so heavy but his eyes glow blue as he concentrates, as does one of the logs. It takes Anasui's entire focus but soon he's moving one of the logs all on his own.
That being said, hearing Kinger, Anasui sighs and puts down the trunk about halfway it's supposed to be and rolls his eyes.
"Kinger, you look like an idiot. Go grab a glass and make a straight line on it. Then, when you fill it with water, you can see if the ground is straight or not."
no subject
-and he drops a glass of water next to Kinger. Seems he overheard, after all!
"Here you go!"
... And he's gone again.
no subject
He notices a small length of rope nearby, not long enough to do anything useful for construction. Kinger unravels it into a thinner thread to work with, and rapidly ties a very secure knot in it with his tendrils, wrapping it around the glass in an even line. Kinger steps back, impressed at his own work.
"I wonder if I was a Boy Scout." Regardless, Kinger wanders around, using the glass to make sure things are level.
no subject
"Huh... Not bad. That's surprisingly level." Anasui nods his approval before he turns back to the foundation. He frowns as he looks at it and does the math in his head. Then, without telling anyone, he uses his psychic powers to move the log Gurdurr placed a few centimeters forward, accommodating for the wood of the tree to make the foundation perfectly straight. Then, he'll go back to work if no one calls him out on it.
i know i dmed about potentially handwaving this, but i realized you might want to hit 5 comments,
"That's a good timber hitch, but you really need to add a clover hitch to really secure it into place. If someone's celebrating on stage you don't want them bringing the house down! Let me show you."
Kinger hops up and starts securing some of the looser knots a bit better.
