Akech-All for October
Who: Akechi, quest partners, and YOU!
What: Various quests + one OPEN prompt
Where: Various locations
When: Throughout October
Warnings: Borb in a cloak
Woodn't You Know It - Cedric;
[It hardly surprised Akechi that Mightyena would choose him as Cedric's... tutor. Setting aside his high standing in the guild, he's one of the only birds among their lot. And, seeing how Akechi's had over half a year to accquaint himself with the ways of guild life, a simple quest like this shouldn't be an issue at all.
Plus, as birds, they have the advantage of flight to make transporting supplies more manageable.
So, as they make their way through the forest, Akechi scans their surroundings for viable wood. For the sake of extra preparedness, he's brought a basket with which they can carry their load.]
I doubt they're expecting as much as they would from larger birds, but we should still try to make a good impression. How used to aerial movement are you?
Geistly Behavior - Archnemon, Anasui;
[How did Akechi end up in this situation?
Obviously, he was going to attack the ghosts. He has the type advantage, and the fall is a pivotal season for harvesting crops...
But Anasui and Archnemon are both psychic types. Ergo, they are weak to ghosts. Ergo, Akechi is the only one without a type disadvantage. Though, Anasui is a bird, and psychic types are known for their variable moves...
Still, to be safe, he's whipped up a Tailwind to enhance their speed, and has chosen to take to the front of the pack to divert ghostly attention.
Speaking of which, there's some giggling from the pumpkin patch.]
All right. I believe that's our cue...
Intimidation Tactics - Kinger, Chara;
[It had to be tunnels...
Fortunately, as a resident of the Spire, Akechi is used to navigating the terrain. There's less room for vertical movement, but just enough for him to comfortably hover and ascend ever soo slightly. As he often does on missions, he's whipped up a Tailwind to hasten their search.]
Bear in mind that Tailwind only lasts a short duration. I can reapply it, of course, but we'll want to take advantage of our boosted speed in case we encounter inteference.
[The tunnels have calmed since the fog receded, but there's always a risk out here.]
OPEN - The Molt;
[Unfortunately, not all is well despite Akechi's hard work this month. Typically, corvids molt in the summer, and he has shed feathers on occasion, but now? Now, he's itchy, he's patchy, and he's decided that won't do.
Which is why he's going around in a cloak, still carrying out his business. It may look a bit silly, with his round shape, but he can be found in all his usual haunts: perusing the Archives for research, training in the Spire, and perching in high places for the sake of perching.
It's a bird thing.]

[Hmm, best to shift some of the twigs in the basket to make more space. Efficiency is key, so he squints and moves some of the wood about.]
At the very least, my crimes hold little bearing here. One challenge that awaits is moving forward in a world where I've left irreparable scars.
no subject
Instead of dropping more twigs, he decides to swoop down to stand next to the Rookidee, helping organize their collection.]
Does anyone there know you have... regrets?
no subject
[He heaves a small sigh, then flutters up to peck down more branches.]
That being said, I hardly expect forgiveness from the ones I've directly harmed through my actions. An apology can't bring back the dead.
no subject
[At first he's about to say he can relate, how those harmed can eventually forgive if your actions prove a change of heart, and then the last part hits him.
Can't bring back the dead.]
Oh.
[All right, scratch that, he definitely can't relate to going that far. He wanted to take over a kingdom, yes, but he never wanted to really hurt anyone, let alone worse. If not for Akechi's evident tone of regret, he'd almost reconsider trusting the fellow corvid.
But, like he said, this is a different world, where they lack their usual strengths and have to make do, including with each other. And if this guy truly wants to do better, then starting here is still a step in the right direction.
When he does finally speak, it's in a low tone - perhaps sounding a little guarded, but not dishonest.]
No... can't say it does, I'm afraid. But, whether the rest forgive you or not, you can at least return happy with what you've become. According to Mightyena, you're a great help here; that accounts for something... however small in scale.
no subject
[Ha. As if "mistake" could even encompass the severity of his actions.]
I suppose if there's one small blessing, it's that if the forces that used me arrived, they would be beneath me, forced to contend with new forms, without their usual abilities or status.
[Oh, that earns a wry little snort from him.]
Though my father was entirely human in flesh, despite his rotten heart and mind. Without his reputation or my assistance, he'd be a joke within this world.
no subject
Besides, even he can't really make that excuse; others encouraged him, yes, but ultimately, he was the one with the original villainous goal and has only himself to blame. These things are easier when you have scapegoats.
But even he understands the negative influence of a father.] Even a parent who means well can ruin someone; the damage is only greater when they don't even have your best interests at heart. And if yours or whoever else who did wrong by you come here, be sure to tell me so I won't, dare I say, "ruin a good joke".
no subject
If my miserable excuse for a "father" arrived, he would have nothing. No reputation, no borderline cultish following. He would be on the bottom rung of this society, and I would waste no time in making it clear what a wretched being he is.
no subject
[His own father, thankfully, is not the manipulative nor malicious type, but he does have the knowledge and charisma to win over hearts. Cedric shudders to think what he could do if he did have cruel intentions, which Akechi's father clearly does.
In the meantime, they have branches.] Is this enough to take back now?
no subject
[Regardless, they do have work to do, so he takes a moment to look over their gatherings.]
In any case, I believe this should suffice for now. If need be, we can always return later.
no subject
[He leaves it at that as he gives a nod to the basket.]
I suppose with the both of us, this should be no problem to carry in the air?
