[Closed] Wayfinding: The third one (Heavy Downmoor)
Who: Emmet and Anasui
What: Wayfinding: Heavy Downmoor
When: Mid-late October (Basically after Emmet gets back from his other Wayfinding)
Where: The 'Second Archives' of Heavy Downmoor
Warnings: To add if it comes up
-----------------
[Heavy Downmoor is the only one of the three locations Anasui hasn't visited before. While some may consider that a disadvantage, Anasui thinks that it'll make his Wayfinding even better, since he has to rely on the terrain for directions and not memory or instinct. On the way to the flood basin, Anasui will mutter about a landmark he notices, making a mental note to check if it corresponds to an existing landmark that had previously been documented.
The storm is thick and heavy, and despite having left at what should have been an optimal time, it's pouring. Anasui frowns, looking up at the sky as the brunt of the downpour hits his Light Screen and rolls harmlessly off. Having been warned about the dangers of Heavy Downmoor from both Lum Guild members and Volcarona themself, Anasui has been practicing his Light Screen and was currently projecting it over himself and Emmet. However, despite his best attempts, they're still getting wet as the wind tosses both rain and snowflakes their way.]
I hope the fucking Archive has a decent roof... I'll be pissed if we're expected to make maps in the rain.
[The water in the flood basin churns ominously, as if responding to Anasui. Anasui glares at the water as if it had said something offensive and then kicks a wet stone into the basin.]

The last time he'd been this drenched by the weather, all those other odd happenings had been going on too. Nothing of the sort is repeating itself now, but it still evokes some kind of sense memory, huh. Nothing for it, though. Part of his attention is focused, actually, on maintaining the circling blue-white foxfire of Will-o-Wisp for light and a modicum of warmth for them both, feasible at all only thanks to the bulk of the rain being directed away by Light Screen, but. If right now they are more focused on finding a path, then Emmet will just mentally note down the odd rock formation here, a copse of trees standing apart from the others there to possibly mark later, on their way back. An ear flicks when Anasui speaks up. ]
At least the slates are more durable than paper. Do not think the teams sent to the volcanic area would have fun trying to map with anything too flammable.
[ The Zoroark squints again at the shadow of the building he thinks he can see in the distance, past more of what probably is normally just a normal riverbed or lake if it weren't for the rain, but at current is just a big mess of overflowing water of hard to discern depth. Is there a roof on that...? Hard to say. ]
But if enough of the structure is still standing. Probably should be somewhere enough to get out of the worst of it.

Hmph. True. But it's still a pain carving on a slippery surface. We have a lot to write because we have a decent number of landmarks...
[Anasui looks away from the water towards the structure too. He can't see much more than Emmet but it's at least reasonably close by. Even while taking the time to ensure they don't slip, it looks like a fifteen minute walk at most.]
Let's get a move on then. Before it gets worse or lightning starts up.

[ Navigate by triangulating based on the mountain ranges in the distance, except not even that is necessarily reliable because of the odd discrepancy of how they appear from afar not matching with how they do from a closer distance... at least the mountain passes are easy enough to follow. ]
But you are right. Full speed ahead? Have been relatively lucky with the storm so far but there is no need to test that by staying here too long.
[ They can maintain their current efficiently brisk pace or speed it up; Emmet knows that Anasui can keep pace with him either way. ]

[Anasui has no love for Icefall Lake and its surrounding area, considering he and his team fell through the ice and was swept away by a current the first time they were there.]
Yeah. Forward or whatever. [Anasui is equally confident that Emmet can keep up with him so he moves a touch faster. He's mindful about the terrain though, and he makes sure that he's not at risk of slipping. Eventually, the second Archives come into view, and while the wind and rain is close to becoming snow and ice, Anasui ensures his Light Screen shield is up to protect them both until they get inside.].
Bah, I'm sick of Heavy Weather...
