Emporio's March Catch All - Quests + OTA
Who: Emporio, his quest buddies, and More!
What: Questboard Catch-All! + Bonus Prompt for Visits
When: Early March + Month-long Wildcard
Where: The Forest, and the Town
Warnings: Will be added as needed
[[OOC - The quests are in a psuedo-chronological order, but I've left the official timing vague to keep things open. As it stands, while Quest prompts presumably happen earlier in the month, the open prompt could be at any point in time.]]
[RESCUE SMOOCHUM]
[It starts, in part, with an agreement. Being in Lum, Emporio and the Ring Spirit naturally have an advantage in accessing the quest board, though not near as much as others higher up the chain. It's access enough though, and so the agreement comes into play; the Ring Spirit has finished reading up enough that he feels ready to tackle some kind of mission. Not just berry gathering either, a proper quest, with possible reward.
And so, they get to the quest board, look at what's left and... ...well it ended up being that there were actually rescues remaining. Only one would really work for his typing, but it's sure a rescue.
So the assignment was taken, a few others contacted via pearl and-]
Okay. From what we know, Smoochum went somewhere in...this direction of the woods.
...Apparently though, that's about all we have. [Thanks Onix.] So our best bet is unfortunately going the same way and hoping we find something.
[But that said, given who is in this group... ...He looks to Akechi.] I don't know if we should go too far away from each other, but if you're alright with flying now, it might be a good idea to fly a little ahead and above us to get a better view.
[And then, Ingo-] Do you think that fire you used last time might help us signal someone lost, as we go?
[A bright beacon seems easier for a scared pokemon to spot, than nothing at all!]
[MISSING?]
Huh?
[That's a little weird, Emporio thinks when he goes to the quest board a little after a successful rescue.] ...Wasn't this one already taken?
[He could have sworn that he saw someone take hold of this particular quest poster. Actually, he feels like he's seen it twice now but that can't be right.
Still- this time, he opts to take it, what with the sheer oddity of it all catching the Ring Spirit's attention as well. Of course, while the two of them are plenty clever, they should probably get help from one other...
...Which naturally, is how Emmet is recruited early into the investigation. It'll be a good test of that nose, right?]
Okay. Phantump is fairly small, and ghost-grass type- they look a little like a tree apparently, or...I guess more like if a piece of a tree had a little ghost in it, with glowing eyes?
[Emporio, helpfully, has a little note taking slate now, and has been using it to keep track of things. He's been doing his best, and coordinating with these pearls seems to be helping with that a lot.] I managed to find someone who thinks they saw them, what about you guys?
[BUSY BEERIES]
[After all of that, Emporio could use a wind-down. There's always a need for berries and sticks. The woods are nice and (relatively) dry, and supposedly walking in woods is relaxing.
So, berry gathering.
The cubone breathes out, helmet on his back.
All he needs to do, is Not think about that phantump!
...yep. Just gotta focus on berries.]
How are you guys doing?
[JUST ON THE BERRIES.]
[WILDCARD - LUM ROOMS]
[Being in Lum has its perks, and one of them is that technically speaking, one could argue that Emporio has his own address. At the very least, he definitely has his own door, which people can knock on and visit him at near the edge of the town.
Of course, that can go one of two ways- if they're smaller than four foot, he can let them into his relatively small (but certainly cozy) abode. Otherwise, he's going to just have to come outside and go somewhere else to do...whatever it is his visitors are here for.
But on that note- what IS he getting visitors for?]

If we [ him and Emment ] both mark trees together, with our different heights that should make it extra clear that it's an intentional marking and not coincidental damage...
Right. We should probably get a move on, before we have to worry too much about it getting dark too.
[ Time to head off...! ]
no subject
Ah well. With a sigh, and a nod, he automatically goes to climb back up Emmet's mane. Let's face it people, they will need Speed now.] I'll see if I can at least spot anything from up here then...at least we all have good night vision?
[Probably more like 'cave-vision' in his case but whatever it counts.]
no subject
[ Though, true, of the three assembled he's definitely still the only one with any actual height to him, so Emporio's perch might as well be as good a vantage point as any as Emmet hastens to follow after the Ring Spirit. Into the woods they go. ]
no subject
[ On into the woods!
The Ring-Spirit is diligent in marking trees as they go; otherwise, he keeps an eye out for any suspiciously-Phantump-shaped bits of wood that might be lying about... ]
Phantump...? You awake? You're worrying your friend back in town...
no subject
[Emmet, when you are a foot tall, everything is ENORMOUS.
Anyway. Time to help shout!]
PHANTUMP..!!
[Hopefully that does not destroy Emmet's ears!]
no subject
kind of do go flat, honestly, immediately swiveling into a shape and tension to dampen the sound. Ow. He's had worse, but still, sensitive ears. ]
Ah. Please give me a little bit of warning before you do that.
[ In any case, Emmet marks the same trees that the Ring Spirit does, as per their agreement earlier, following along as best he can with part of his attention also focused on keeping an eye out for any particularly animated-looking shadowy bits, considering what Phantump looks like. ]

"..are
we w̵͖̃h̴̯͂o̸̺͋ we
t̷̝͋h̶̪͠ị̶͋n̴͓͆ḱ̷̺... we are.̸̼̍.̵̪͌.̴̙̒?̵͎̃"
...Who said that,,
They're a reasonable distance inside the forest now, surrounded by trees at varied stages of growth, both standing and fallen. There isn't much underbrush at this location, but Phantump doesn't have feet to leave prints... ]
no subject
[He drops his voice to a whisper immediately.] S...sorry...I'll try not to-
[....................
uh]
...did anyone hear...that..?
no subject
I heard it. You are not hearing things unless we both are.
[ Which, honestly, given how their time here has gone is an actual reasonable concern between the nightmares and associated hallucinations, and whatever effects the fog in the forest has on their minds.
(Fairies? Ghosts? Some derivative of a Musharna's mist...? Wait, hold on...) ]
no subject
...Phantump...?
[ There is, if one listens closely, a faint response.
It's coming from the opposite side of the path to where the Ring-Spirit's gone to check.
It sounds a little like snoring. ]
no subject
[They're coming closer to...something, it feels like. He can't smell anything, or even hear anything really, but he feels like they're in the right direction at least. His attention is drawn to where the snoring comes from, body still shivering from the unease of what they heard.
The idea of things being...that level of unknown feels wrong.]
no subject
Over here. Your attention please.
[ or: Ring-Spirit you're going the wrong way, he's calling for you before they accidentally leave you behind as they head towards the source of the snoring (maybe).
(are they who they think they are. really, is there any reason for them to need to doubt? there's a saying, maybe, about butterfrees dreaming, but in all honesty philosophy isn't really something Emmet finds that engaging...
a funny thing, though, for what some would call the ghost of a zoroark to be made to ponder.) ]
no subject
On the far side of, and half-beneath, a fallen log just off the path, they all find a soundly sleeping Phantump. If they attempt to rouse them, the most they'll get is a faint increase in volume of snoring. They seem to be unharmed, but...
Hm. Welp, Phantump's been located, but there's clearly something else amiss. ]
no subject
[How strange... Emporio just peers from over Emmet's head, and stares.] ...Do we just pick them up and go back..?
no subject
[ The Zoroark's ears twitch. There's nothing else around or lurking that might be responsible for this, right? Grass types are immune to powder moves, but there are other methods of forcing sleep too even if less common.
He's going to crouch down a bit; Emporio's free to disembark or stay atop his perch if he likes, but Emmet's going to try to check for if there's anything else that seems off. ]
If only one of us knew Heal Bell or Aromatherapy ... Either way. We should bring them back, yep.
oh right skipping RS means it's my turn oops
[He'll come down. If at least because it's probably easier for him to help inspect the little guy.]
...I could bring him up into your mane maybe?
wwwwwww
[ This is his job now, huh. Ferrying passengers around? Well, that's not a change from the usual, really, it's just that doing so so physically...
(Phantump's still not waking up, huh. Strange.) ]
But sure. Everything's ready. The Emmet Express is open to additional passengers.
no subject
It's weird they came out here, and it's weird they won't wake up... hm.
Is there anything out of the ordinary that you can see? I can't myself... but if there's anything here that could explain their actions, the clinic would likely need to know about it.
no subject
[He really is! He swears.] If they were awake I wouldn't do this, but neither of us are really big enough to carry them, and if something attacks, you'll need your arms free right?
[Unspoken addition to that is that Emporio does not think he'll be especially effective if they're attacked out here. Which...given the ghost pokemon so far, that's probably a fair assumption. Normal moves suck.]
no subject
Don't apologize. I do not mind. Your logic follows. Though, I would rather not get in a fight with passengers on board. I like battles, yes. But that does not pass safety checks.
[ Maybe if Phantump were awake enough to hold on themselves... but as it is, unless they're pinned down somehow Emmet probably would err in favor of just booking it back to town in the case of an attack. For now, though, he'll stay still to let them move Phantump up. ]
Don't see anything around here that would cause this. No powder residues either. But grass types are typically not affected by those the way other types are anyway. [ ... an experimental sniff of the air. ] ... Don't smell anything strange either. Just normal forest.
no subject
[ He gives one last look around before turning back to the others. ]
Guess we're done out here? Should probably go ahead and get them back to the clinic, then.
...Though we should probably stick together too, just in case there is something out here waiting to pick us off.
no subject
[Alright, he'll just clamber up with Phantump and make sure they're secure...]
...Maybe someone sang them to sleep before we got here..? Mmmmh...
...He's right though, we should probably save any brainstorming for when we're back in town.
no subject
[ Psycho Shift, Lovely Kiss, Yawn, even Secret Power. Seems grassy enough for it. Many such possibilities.
Emmet has to resist the urge to shake himself out once they're both back up in his mane. That can wait until they're back at town and he's not carrying a potentially injured passenger. ]
You will not be riding yourself? [ This is directed at the Ring Spirit, but Emmet's not fussed either way on what the Mimikyu decides. ] Okay. Last call before we depart. Anything else we want to look for before going back?
[ Because if there's nothing else they want to check on, then off they go. Move with speed, not haste. ]
no subject
Mn, I think we've done all we can out here.
[ And (unless Emmet wants to argue about his carrying capacity) they are indeed off! ...If left to his own devices, the Ring-Spirit lags behind periodically and has to play catch-up via Shadow Sneak. ]
no subject
[Off they go off they go!! Once they're back in town, Emporio will get down from Emmet's mane with Phantump carefully gripped in his arms. They can afford to walk more slowly, now after all.]
Alright- so...I guess the next stop is the clinic for now.
