[OPEN] Dreams & Ghosts
Who: Mayaka & you !
What: 2 open prompts (reviewing dreams from last month + attempting to get over her fear of ghosts) and wildcard option
Where: Around Bottlecay Bay + Skull Town
When: Beginning of Feb
Warnings: none atm a. dream review
Perhaps you're passing through the Archives, or the living hall in Skull Town when you spot a Sneasel sitting at a table furiously scrawling out various drawings on paper. Mayaka's gloves have been set aside neatly beside her for now, because she finds it easier to hold onto the charcoal pencils using her bare claws. She's experienced some weird dreams from last month. Though she doesn't remember the exact details, she's been dutifully drawing out the images that lingered in her mind upon waking up. Now, it's time to try to make sense of them. On the table you'll find the following drawings:
1. What appears to be a spaceship, though Mayaka's drawn it to look more like a truck with four wheels underneath.
2. A primordial-looking fish creature. She has given it a pair of cute, anime-sized eyes to make it look more approachable.
3. A black cat with an extra pair of eyes on its stomach. More cat-like than Mimikyu at this point.
4. The drawing she's currently working on, and struggling to capture. She's trying to remember what the alien beings in the final big nightmare looked like, though the large and erratic shapes on paper may not look recognisable to anyone. Mayaka is finding it difficult because she doesn't have an image in mind to associate with what she saw in the nightmare.
She's too caught up with this to notice if someone were to approach...
b. how to deal with ghosts
If you're wandering around Bottlecap Bay, you'll find Mayaka outside her house in the Lum Berry housing area, rooted on the spot.
Her attention is focused on a small clay sculpture she's placed in the garden of her front porch. It's a little handmade ghost figurine with a hairbow on its head. While it might look strangely cute, the more you look at it, the more you'll notice that it's two eyes seem to be gazing directly at you with an unblinking Stare™.
This is the ghost that's been chasing her in her dreams, but she's too scared to get rid of it! (Also, the fact that it was a gift to her from Catrina doesn't help!)
The Sneasel is shaking a little, and it's not from the cold weather. She's standing a safe distance away from the figurine, muttering to herself: "It's just a doll... it's just a dolll..."
(Dolls are creepy too, though??)
c. wildcard!
for any other threads or ideas that come up!

Very trusting, to hand it over like that!
What do they have with them? They tap their saddlebags with a paw, trying to remember. Mostly just berries and expedition supplies, things like that, nothing especially valuable or interesting... they could definitely find something back at the Canopy, but that's the Canopy...
When she asks for their name, their tail twitches once.
"I'm... Siffrin." The hesitation is just long enough to be noticeable, though they try to make the transition smooth. Weird.

"Oh, it's fine, Rin-san. You don't have to give me anything." She is efficient with her nicknames, and unconcerned with a transactional exchange for a simple sketch. Of course, there's also the fact that she's never had to worry about resources as a Lum Berry. This, Mayaka has yet to be fully cognizant of.
"Maybe we can trade when my art is actually worth something, y'know?" the Sneasel says a matter-of-factly. She's still a long way from being satisfied with her skills.

And they're not going to complain about getting something for free, anyway, especially when they still hadn't figured out what they were going to trade for it. (They seem a little taken off balance by the nickname, too? Not in a bad way, though.)
"Um, thank you. If you're sure...?"
They roll the artwork a little tighter - charcoal rubs off if it gets slid against itself too much, right? - and tuck it very carefully into one of their saddlebags. They'll need to find a safe place for it in Skull Town before they actually head out on their expedition.
"Are you here for one of the search expeditions too?"
no subject
"Hatenna-chan and I also tried to find Pokemon trapped in the avalanche, but there's only so much we can cover." Both of them are a tad too small to be helping out larger Pokemon, or journeying to places beyond the outskirts of the town.
Mayaka scans Siffrin from head to toe with an inquisitive shine in her eyes. They look ready for a journey.
"Are you planning to head out soon?"
no subject
...they don't comment on Hatenna, with whom they have... a complicated relationship.
"As soon as my teammates are ready!" they respond instead. Now that it's after the avalanche response and Lurantis is getting everyone back on expeditions... "We're heading into the woods."
good to wrap ! cos im gonna be on hiatus till late march ~ ty for the thread <3
"Be safe out there, Rin-san!"
It seems well wishes are the only thing she can offer right now. That and...
"I'm staying in Skull Town -- if you need me to hold onto anything or to watch out for stuff, just let me know."
Given how much it seems they're carrying, perhaps her offer will help the Shinx lighten their load?
thumbsup!!
Surprise! It's a return nickname! It's less polite than Mayaka's - but then, it's hard to say if Siffrin can even tell that Mayaka is including a honorific? They don't seem to intend it in a mean way, at any rate!
Actually, now that she mentions it... they gently retrieve the drawing and nudge it back toward her. "It'll be safer with you until I get back!"
But they're definitely going to be back for it. They want it on their wall in the Canopy. And if she does end up asking for something in trade for it when they return, that's fine too!
They stretch out their front paws before hopping up to head out.
omg that is the loveliest nickname ever!!
