Flowey's Friendly February (& March) Catch-All

He likes that she asked. It makes him feel important-- though just as easily, she could be patronizing him. He'll have to show her what he can really do.

"You got it! Just follow me!"

The way he has to move around as a Sunkern doesn't exactly command respect, though. He hops toward the shoreline. Once they're close enough, he calls forward another Sunny Day as if issuing a challenge. His Solar Power ability (as he heard it was called) makes him feel invigorated. Hopefully, his ghostly friend isn't averse to a little sunshine.

The waves churn, and sure enough, cute heart-shaped fish with little beaks burst out of the water to answer the challenge. Half of their Water Gun attacks evaporate in the hot air, leaving only a little sprinkle that wets his leaves. He lets out a mocking laugh. "Is that REALLY the best you can do?"

Time to return fire. He starts spitting out Bullet Seeds that knock several of the Luvdisc out of the air. They splash back into the water unceremoniously.

Oh, that's what he meant by heart-shaped. That's much less gruesome than she expected. Floating over the water to claw at them is dangerous, so it's time to try a new technique. She crosses her lower pair of arms.

"Cien Fleur!" A crawling sphere of shadow begins to manifest in front of her. At first glance it looks like a mass of spiders, but closer inspection reveals it is many tiny Cofagrigus hands. "Infestation!"

Robin launches the unnerving sphere at one of the Luvdisc, who reels back slightly at the initial hit. The ball then unfurls and the tiny hands begin crawling and clawing at the Luvdisc. The Luvdisc squirms and tries to shake them off, but the hands hold its fins in place so it cannot swim away.

Flowey has never been more impressed and more jealous in his entire life. The Luvdisc who just got hit with a super-effective Bullet Seed got off easy! He considers finishing the infested Luvdisc off as a coup de grâce, but decides to avoid kill KO stealing as a sign of respect.

"Golly, you sure can hold your own!" he says. "... Say, pal, how about we make shooting fish in a barrel a little more interesting? Whoever beats more of the Luvdisc is the winner!"

He has the feeling she's still holding out on him. What other horrifying moves does she have in store?

[With a twist and a sickening crunch, the tiny hands finish the job and Luvdisc... faints.]

I'll try to keep up.

[The Luvdisc seem a little uneasy at the pair's bloodlust competitive athletics, and then one brave Luvdisc swims quickly to the front of the school and fires off a Hydro Pump, knocking Robin on to her back.]

[Just when they were starting to have fun! That's what he gets for underestimating them. Flowey can't do anything more than toss an Oran Berry back to her and try to hold them off.

By using Grasswhistle, a few of them fall asleep and are carried away by the waves. He just barely ducks under a Hydro Pump- for the first time, he's grateful he's so small- and counters with a Mega Drain that heals off the little bit of damage he has sustained.]

You're not going to give up because of a little bath, are you, rookie? [He glances back at Robin. He sure hopes she didn't die already. (Can ghosts die...?)]

[That was definitely seawater. Even though her mouth is only painted on and she has no visible nose to speak up, she can somehow still taste and smell the salt of the water that hit her. And yet, the immobilization that normally comes from that doesn't hit her. Then she realizes.

She doesn't have a Devil Fruit here.]

No, no I won't. [Robin levitates into the air, all four arms extended.]

Quatro Fleur,

[She then launches at full speed at the school of Luvdisc, Shadow Clawing at them with a fury.]

Claws!

[Even though he had a head start with her being knocked out for a moment, she's already surpassing him! He shoots a 'spray and pray' of Bullet Seeds, but the Luvdisc have started to get wise to his strategies. They use Surf to wash away his attacks before they land and wash him away, too. When the tidal wave recedes, he's soaked through and has to shake off a Pyukumuku.]

Golly! You really are a trained killer. [He watches approvingly as several of the shadowy hands make the Luvdisc... faint. He accepts his fate just cleaning up after her with Mega Drain.] Snap a lot of necks back home? Soldiers don't fight hand to hand... mercenary? Assassin?

[voidcentury]

[Robin turns, smiling at him. She has no problem admitting she's a pirate, but in this moment it would be fun to just say...]

An archaeologist.

[friendlyflower]

[Fine, then. Keep your secrets.

... Just kidding. His nosy ass isn't about to let up that easily when she clearly thinks he was born yesterday.]

I guess you must've had to do something to keep those precious artifacts from being swiped by those lousy museums! Or do you want me to believe you were snapping mummies' necks?

Usually Marines, actually. [Robin explains vaguely.] Or bounty hunters.

[She's clearly having fun with this. It has been a long time since she was in a place where she wasn't notorious.]

Golly! An archaeologist with a bounty? They really didn't like whatever you found! [He continues fighting the Luvdisc as he talks, as if it's second nature to him.] I like your style. This place has plenty of secrets I'm sure you're dying to uncover.

... No pun intended! [Ugh. Kill him.]

[Robin pauses, Luvdisc clutched in one of her hands ready to be thrown back into the ocean.]

I haven't found it yet, that's what they're afraid of.

[Robin hopes that the secrets of this world aren't being intentionally hidden in the same way as her own. It does seem like the guild leaders don't know any more than they're saying, except maybe Polteageist. She hurls the terrified Luvdisc, skipping it like a stone across the water.]

[Interesting. Too bad she's never going to find it now. It must be hard for people with 'lives' and 'goals' and things to wind up here. (As if he gives a shit.)]

You should talk to Akechi if you haven't already! He's dead set on solving the mysteries of this place. [He has a conspiracy wall and everything! Flowey's also interested because he hates feeling out of control and not knowing things, but it's not like he's trying to get home or anything.] Though most of the stuff he knows are things found by yours truly, hee hee.

Akechi. I will make sure to speak with him, thank you.

[Robin has spent enough time with Usopp to know when someone is bluffing to sound impressive, so she is careful not to stroke or deflate his ego.]

What kinds of secrets have you found?

[Finally, someone who takes him seriously.]

Reality breaking up. A long-destroyed guild with archives identical to our own, but in a far-off region. Hints about some kind of cycle of destruction. It's second nature, really.

It sounds like secrets are being kept here for similar reasons to my own world. The World Government's excuse for outlawing research is that they don't want anyone to uncover the Ancient Weapons. Something terrible and destructive is being hidden from us here.

[As the last Luvdisc retreats for the time being, Flowey can't help but feel like he lost their little bet on who could wrack up more kills KOs. But it was worth it to see what this newcomer could really do-- and the conversation has been pretty interesting. Maybe she won't be like the others who just give up.]

And unless we find it, we're all going to succumb to it! But no pressure or anything! [He sure sounds chipper.]

... Ribombee is the shadiest one of the guild leaders. The other two are just as clueless as we are. [That's potentially even scarier than if they were malicious and trying to stop them from figuring out how to break the cycle.] But that doesn't mean we don't have some fierce opposition! But you've definitely shown me that you're more than able to handle yourself. I think you'll do just fine.

You think Ribombee knows more than he lets on?

[It is not Robin's first time working for someone shady, but she would have assumed it was the haunted teapot who lives in comparative opulence. But if all of the guilds in actuality do have similar resources, the Cheris are the ones where it is least obvious where those resources are going. The Archives are obvious, but the mining operation in the Spire requires resources too.]

I don't think. I know. [... he just can't prove it.] He does have the city in mind, I'll give him that, but he seems to think the ends justify the means. He doesn't hesitate to play favorites and leave the rest of us behind. That's why I've been trying to earn his trust. [Right now, the best evidence he has is "takes one to know one."]

Perhaps we should be looking outside of guild leadership.

[Hiding information for the greater good is a lie told by leaders to stay in power.]

[That's what he's been saying! But Akechi thinks he's too paranoid. He's just a big guildmaster's pet for Mightyena, though.

... He'll keep that tidbit to himself for now, though. He doesn't want to color her impressions of the others just yet.]
