Warnings: possibly violence? it's "just sparring", but different folks may value safety vs winning to differing degrees,,

[ The Ring-Spirit has been feeling the need to work on his battling capabilities ever since he helped rescue Smoochum back in March... and the disturbing discovery made during Tangela's more recent rescue only made the importance of combat practice more clear.

So! He makes arrangements during the month to meet up with various other pokemon to spar - not on the coast (CERTAINLY not after hearing out Tangela), nor too deep into the forest, but just outside of town enough that they won't have to worry too much about the uninvolved getting caught in the crossfire. ]


[A] - Meeting as Arranged!
[ If you previously agreed (in person or over pearl) to meet with the Ring-Spirit to spar, you'll find him already waiting at the location when you arrive. He perks up on seeing you. ]

You want to stretch or something first, or get right to it?


[B] - Who You??
[ If you're not someone he's expecting to meet up with, but you linger long enough that he starts thinking you're seeking his attention, he'll be a little ruder. He has plans! ]

...Yeah? What do you want?

Oo, fun move...

[ He's favorably impressed - he hasn't seen a move quite like this before, not in action. He eyes the circling Shokas, sizing them up. Hm, which to strike at, which to strike... ]

Eeny meeny -

[ - Then, before finishing the rhyme, he picks a Shoka and goes all-out with a hefty swing from his now-glowing tail-stick. If it connects he'll get hurt too, but he's willing to risk that. ]

[telewarped]

I know, right?

[There's only one voice; it seems that the doubles might be unable to speak. This would be an effective way to pick out the real Shoka... if only they weren't all moving so fast now, circling madly in an attempt to throw the Ring-Spirit off even more as he sizes them all up.

Finally, he makes his choice—and it's just one Shoka off. His tail-stick sails through thin air, the illusion disappearing on contact.]

Aw, so close!

[The Shoka to the double's immediate left lunges, coming at the Ring-Spirit with another Shadow Sneak.]

[ The Ring-Spirit's turned around from the doubles circling him, and doesn't react before Shoka gets a good hit in. ]

Gah!

[ In the wake of damage taken, he's still a little disoriented; he acts on impulse, swinging a second Wood Hammer tail-stick attack at her. Probably not the most tactically sound choice now that he's already taken some real damage... he's got less wiggle room for handling the blowback damage if this one connects. ]

[As the Wood Hammer descends on her, Shoka is readying a Wood Hammer of her own, hoping to follow up on her Shadow Sneak with massive damage. This means that they both swing at almost the exact same time... and also hit at almost the exact same time.

The Ring-Spirit's tail-stick connects with Shoka's already broken disguise with a solid thwump.]

Agh—!

[That blow paired with the recoil from her own attack send a shudder of pain through her, then make her crumple to the ground, strength spent. All her illusory doubles disappear, dissolving into nothing.]

[ The Ring-Spirit doesn't have the chance to figure out if it's Shoka's final attack or the added recoil from his own that takes him out - he only has time to register that his own attack connected, and that Shoka is going down! He manages a single victorious: ]

H-ha!

[ ...and then he flops limply to the ground himself, out cold. Oops. ]

[Some time passes like that: the two of them collapsed side by side on the ground, looking not unlike a pair of matching, abandoned hand puppets. If anyone sees them like this, they'll probably assume the two Mimikyu are just hanging out. Ultimately, Shoka is the first to awaken, cracking open her eyes with a groan.

At first, she's too dazed to remember why she's here... But then she turns and sees the Ring-Spirit, and she remembers (mostly).]

... Hey. You good?

[She snakes out an arm to reclaim her tail-stick and give him a nudge with it.]

Ugh, wake up already, loser.

[improvking]

[ The other Mimikyu's costume twitches.

Then it's still.

...Then it twitches a bit more.

......Eventually: ]

Ngh... what day is it...?

[ He makes no move to actually get up yet. ]

[telewarped]

It better still be the same day, or I'm gonna kick your ass again.

[With great effort, she drags herself upright, her disguise-head still hanging heavily from its broken neck. Once she's back on her foot, she starts to look the Ring-Spirit over.]

Okay... How bad's the damage? Am I gonna have to drag you to the clinic, or...?
