FEBRUARY 2025 QUESTBOARD
QUESTBOARD
( SIGN UPS FOR THIS MONTH ARE HERE )
At 7am sharp every morning, the city comes fully alive with the posting and highlighting of new quests! Of course, the questboard is something that should always be checked, with rescue missions always a possibility outside of normal update times, but there's something special and heartwarming about the way the entire city comes together this same time each day, just to see what they can do to help one another.
Upon joining their guilds, newcomers have been invited to take a look at the quests themselves. There are rankings they'll have to concern themselves with, after all. Today is a special day, because the newcomers have now officially all been added to the member ranking roster! They are all listed under their respective guilds at the very bottom, sporting a nice 0 points so far. Don't worry, no one's judging them yet. Currently, the guild leaders are at the top rank of their respective guilds. As far as guild ranking, Lum Berries are the top guild, followed by Oran, and lastly by Cheri.
The quests themselves are pinned to the wooden board securely, hanging in clear view with the following information listed for each: quest giver, difficulty level (1-3 stars), rewards (points and/or items, plot mentions obviously are not there), and a message from the quest giver. As for the currently available quests...

GUILDS
( YOU CAN OPTIONALLY THREAD WITH GUILD LEADERS HERE )
Many newcomers already seem to be settling into their respective guilds, and it's left the city with an optimistic energy buzzing around! Each guild has their own unique way of handling things, but all three come together in a way that benefits Bottlecap Bay as a whole, and the newcomers seem to be blending in quite well, despite those worrying nightmares from before.
Acceptance comes with new responsibilities, though, and there are a number of things that each guild expects or requests of their new members.
Lum Berries are straight to work recording information about the latest storm, as well as the newcomers and their nightmares. Polteageist requests that the newcomers in this guild pull their weight by gathering as much information as they can about each newcomer in the other guilds and help record this. Physical descriptors are important, but so are their dreams, their personalities, their beliefs, and so on. It can be hard to dump this sort of information on just anyone, so do try and make some friends if that's what it takes. Beyond that, the results of the exploration quest recently posted will become important, as Lum Berry members will be consulted on the next steps.
Cheri Berries first hold a group celebration of their new members in the Canopy where they'll be spending so much of their time. After a lot of great food and silly icebreaking games, Ribombee will personally thank everyone and mention his quest posting, implying that guild members should try to help not just with their own guild quest, but others. In addition to that, duties will be split across the new recruits, and everyone will find themselves with a schedule of berry gathering, scouting, and monitoring the forest growth and ecosystem health. Busy busy!
Oran Berries are having a month long celebration for its new members. Meals are already held together, but they're made extra special and fancy this month, straight out of Mightyena's metaphorical pocket! She's working overtime to provide for her little Oran Berries. Members are encouraged to help out in the mines, but more than that, are told to enroll in fighting classes, as well as potentially host some of their own to fellow newcomers. No one understands the struggles of adapting to a new body quite like someone already going through it, right? The city is relying on you!
NIGHTMARE RESOLUTIONS
( PLEASE SEE THIS THREAD )
As mentioned on the TDM, characters who have not shared their doubts or feelings with another still have had their nightmares vanish by February 10th. Since then, not a single report of nightmares has been sent in to the Pokeclinic or the Archives. Isn't that great?
More perceptive characters may notice a sense of foreboding despite this calm, however. The more the month goes on, the more a nagging feeling surfaces at the back of every mind. Aren't you forgetting something? The feeling gets more intense, overwhelmingly so, and nothing seems to help with it.
Please respond to this thread below indicating whether your character shared their emotions to relieve the nightmares, or whether they timed out. There's a helpful little form, so go ahead and fill it out as soon as you can! Once we have everyone's info, we'll get back to you all with an update.
NOTES.
⟡ Guild and member rankings will be more properly displayed hopefully next month! Since no player character has any points yet, we did not make that a priority. As of right now, we will be tracking your points, but we recommend keeping your own tracking somewhere as well in case we mess up.
⟡ Please keep your eyes open for a temperature check sometime before the end of the month! This will discuss potential changes, player wishes, and other plans for the game as a whole. Because of this, March's schedule is likely going to change as we iron out the details with you all.
⟡ Please review the quest page for more information on each type of quest and how to sign-up.
⟡ Guild leader threads will be limited to five (5) comments from us. Meaning a thread can get up to 10 comments maximum before we stop replying! This is to prevent overloading ourselves on threads, so thank you for understanding!
⟡ Quest replies will be sent as soon as we can, but may not necessarily be same day (at least this time). Apologies for that, and thanks for understanding!
⟡ As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask them here!

GUILD LEADER THREADS
Guild leaders can be assumed to be in their guild base, or performing any of the normal guild duties.
Oran
...Or, well, that may not be completely true, there's some kind of fear, but...not the usual fear she's used to. She's not scared of Mightyena in the traditional sense, even though she's experienced her raw power first hand when they sparred. Even though she commands such an intimidating presence, even though she holds so much respect so effortlessly. Mightyena...is everything A.B.A pretends to be. That terrifying, authoritative power... But...instead of using it to chase people off, like A.B.A often imagines that she's doing, people instead flock to Mightyena. It's so strange, she never imagined that such a combination could exist. Terrifying...yet welcoming?
No, A.B.A can't put a name to it, but this feeling she has...is possibly her first taste of gratitude. Gratitude and admiration. She's not going to kid herself, she knows she's just as strange and unnatural here as she was back home, she can see it in the locals' eyes. No guild was fighting to take her, no one even knows what she is. But Mightyena approached her... She called her irreplaceable... She housed her, fed her more than she's ever been fed in her entire life, and made her feel less like an outsider. Her!! Not an outsider!! She's never...felt like she belonged anywhere before, certainly not like this.
This fear...it's the fear that she might do something stupid to let her down, she wants Mightyena to like her so much, she doesn't want to give her a reason to think she's made a mistake. She wants to continue feel...wanted, and if she ever lost this feeling, she isn't sure what she'd do.
As A.B.A's mind spirals with these thoughts, she misses the fact that she is no longer "frozen," but rather sloooooowly shuffling her way forward until she's finally right up to the "Bite" Pokémon, front and center. She squawks, surprised by her actions, by her own betrayal to...herself, and just unleashes every thought all that once.]
M-Mightyena!! H-H-How do you do?! I'm quite well, actually, your glorious hospitality has been a beacon to my otherwise bleak and empty soul- I was just on my way to continue training- I've been training ever since, you know and- I do believe it's time for me to go now- GOODBYE!!!
no subject
"Wait."
It's a bark that demands attention, but in case that's not enough, her paws pad forward enough to close the smallest distance, one lifting to catch at the back of one of A.B.A's legs.
"I've heard you've been just as hospitable in these rough times. It was you who made sure the newcomers all felt comfortable in their sleeping arrangements, wasn't it?"
That's one way of phrasing it, isn't it? She seems intent on this, paws bringing her forward so that they can be face to face once more, roughly speaking. Her head tilts a little to one side, doglike curiosity taking hold.
"It's good that you're continuing your training, but remember to rest, as well. And keep your head up, no matter how tall you are."
It's... a little difficult to tell if she means that last part literally, or in a like, metaphorically deep kind of way. Good luck.
no subject
Feels nice...]
You've...heard about that?
[It makes sense, she was a little all over the place that one night. Shouting occasionally. Some Pokémon may not have...appreciated her methods, but the fact that Mightyena sees it as something worth praising only confirms to A.B.A what she already knew. That she did the right thing. If she was a little more self aware, she may not take the credit seeing as her intentions were mostly selfish, but maybe she needs the little boost in pride. Yes! She DID make them comfortable, didn't she? No one should be made to feel alone, it's a tough time.]
Have you seen them at night? The way they toss and turn... No one was sleeping well... It makes sense, we're all misplaced in a way that seems unimaginable, but all of them? It's....peculiar. I can only hope it helped.
[Because the more it helps them, the more it helps her. By making sure they continue to sleep all around her. Her beautiful collection of living stuffed animals who would never leave her. Ever.
Which is why she nods at Mightyena's helpful advise.]
The mind deteriorates when it isn't properly rested, and one can't defend themselves when the mind is weak... I've been resting much better now.
[Whether or not that last part was literal or not doesn't matter, A.B.A straightens her neck up taller and will probably be doing that all day now.]
no subject
Instead, after a soft growl that manages to convey something like a hum, she responds simply. "I think you did help. And no matter how small, that matters."
She pads forward a little, like she's inviting the other to move with her. "Keep it up." The helpful energy! Or the sleepovers. Both are fine. "You'll soon learn that you and all the other Oran Berries help just as much as I do, if not more."
no subject
I'll admit, I'm not used to being....helpful. [Why she's comfortable enough to tell Mightyena this, she can't seem to figure out.] I was always just an observer... An outsider looking in... People are...difficult. But Pokémon? Pokémon are so much easier, I can't explain it... A lot of you remind me of my husband...
[She's particularly fond of a Pokémon called "Scraggy," and she even learned there's a key Pokémon out there somewhere!]
I want to continue being helpful...
Cheri
Well. If he was from Eorzea, he'd be an Ul'dahn. Probably one easier to work with and not nearly as cutthroat as Teledji Adeledji, may he rest in piss, but he's got...he has a feel to him. Like, if amassing gil was part of being a guild leader, he'd be all over that. So, there's a measure of caution to how Firoza wants to bring up her idea, but not any more than usual. After all, you don't rise up through the ranks of gladiators to become a Paladin anywhere other than Ul'dah, and if you can't take the desert heat, you're not cut out for it.
Still...she wishes she had something to show for it now. Walking on four legs has become easier, but using those forepaws when she's not walking...it's like she's all thumbs. But maybe there's a way for her to get some practice in, and maybe he knows where she can do that. Where she could get materials, and how it could benefit not just the Cheri Berries, but lots of Pokemon who might need it.
Satchels. She wants to make satchels. A simple construction would be best for making them quickly and adapting to all sorts of sizes and shapes of Pokemon, and would allow any Pokemon, no matter their abilities, to carry things. Lots of things. Which is great for supply quests, or for spreading out supplies on bigger missions so no one is a singular pack mule for the whole group, or - anything, really! If she can learn to sew with these paws and could get fabric and thread, even if it was cheap or cast-off, she could make it work - she just needs a chance!
If Ribombee's in his...office, or the main guild hub, she'll knock before entering - but whether he is or he's out and about, her request starts the same way:]
Pray, Ser Ribombee? Do you have a moment?
no subject
She's managed to find him at a perfect time, in fact! In his little office, after just returning from a scouting mission of his own. He takes the time to finish stamping a couple of things with his hand even after he welcomes his guest in, free hand gesturing to the opposite side of his desk. It only takes another moment or two before he's stacking papers aside, fluttering this way and that and then recentering himself to look across at Firoza.
"You've found me at a good time! How can I help?" Cheery and upbeat, his beady eyes blink with an expectancy that seems to hold a bit of pressure behind it. That sort of it better be something good, but in the way where you're not quite sure if you're reading too much into it or not... He's smiling, so it can't be all that bad, right?
no subject
Thank you. I...have a concern, regarding limitations, and how best to rectify them. I've gotten better at moving around, but I can only carry so much at a time when it comes to gathering resources. And, I know others must have a similar issue - not just newcomers, but Pokemon with bodies that aren't good at...carrying things.
[Apparently ghosts are Pokemon, and things that look like objects are Pokemon. Incredible.]
I'm sure there are satchels and the like to be had, but I thought perhaps...it might be prudent to furnish ourselves with them. Not just the Cheri Berry guild, but all the guilds. A-and, where I'm from, I have the experience to do that! I've trained in the art of clothcraft since I was small. [She holds up a forepaw.] But I'm used to having hands - er, paws - more suited to holding a needle and thread.
The point is - would you happen to know where in Bottlecap Bay I could learn to develop that finesse again? And, where might I be able to source a cheap and durable fabric? If I had those things, I could make satchels for anyone who needed one, sized to their needs...and resource gathering would be much more effective.
[Mhm, just like bargaining with an Ul'dahn. Here's what I want, and here's how you benefit - let me develop a skill, and everyone will celebrate your guild for providing helpful tools.]
no subject
"Oh, that's a wonderful idea! There are many Pokemon who share their expertise in crafting throughout Bottlecap Bay, but I have no doubt that your own talents could fill a much needed niche. You do have the benefit of trying two different forms of carrying things all on your own, after all!"
From hands to... paws! Ribombee moves quickly, pausing in his short bursts of flight to make for a zigzag pattern before he ends up at a map posted along the wall. There, he begins to point out a few shops.
"This shop here is short on hands, and would gladly take you in. Simply speak to the Spinarak there and tell her that Ribombee sent you to aid her, and she'll show you the ropes! Or strings, really. Hehe." Another slap of his bug-paw. "Materials are a city-wide sort of deal, so Spinarak may have more ideas than me... But! Hmm, you should take part in a number of quests that gather materials, regardless of what they are. The more you put yourself forward and aid the city, the more the Pokemon of the city itself will help you in return! So here, there's a nice old Metapod who might be willing to provide his hardened string for a youngster who's contributing... You know?"
He flashes his smile back at her expectantly. Following?
no subject
I would be happy to focus on gathering.
[She never picked up a trade in gathering back home - it'd probably be more cost effective if she had - but even supplying raw materials found through adventuring had been a boon for others.
So long as nobody's asking for poop. Gods, she's tired of fetching poop for people. It happens more often than one would think.
Firoza bobs her head in a little bow to Ribombee.] Thank you - I shall begin as soon as possible. And if there might be aught else I can help you with in return, you need only ask.
Lum!
Except for Polteageist. Perhaps it was a sign of trust, or perhaps it was a sign that he had the dedication to be part of the guild. To Polteageist, Perrin was Perrin. So as he entered, small book in his hands, he looked as relaxed as he could.
"I am certain," Perrin started after a slight wave - no time for idle chitchat, "you heard me on the Grumpearls - unless you guys aren't listenin' in on us." His own information gathering, even if he had been a bit ignorant over a few things. Like many universes. "I dunno, felt right t'ask as a member of th'newcomers. Even before th'request."
His voice was that confidence that he did not have that night in his mind. "'course, it's not like I'm not gonna share these documents with my esteemed boss." There was a bit of a smirk on his lips, the confidence he showed as a man - not the sort he showed before backstabbing somebody, either. Right now, Perrin didn't feel he had a reason to betray Polteageist - their arrangement worked out well. "All part of th'job."
He placed down the book for the other to see - notes and all, with also bad sketches of each of the others. Before: "Though, if there's... tools more befittin' somebody with claws and size like me, now that'd make it easier."
no subject
That they are busy, that delegation is important, that they listened long enough to hear a Lum member was handling this before leaving it in his capable hands. It doesn't seem as though the casual attitude bothers Polteageist at all, as they completely move along with the talk. Little liquid hands somehow manage to slap onto the book and turn it enough to get a better view, but with a showing flair of them afterwards, they reveal that they might not use the most typical writing tools, either.
"We have a variety of methods to use. Those of you with claws are the most valuable, in fact, because you're able to transfer these words onto stone. Far more lasting than paper, or dirt, or anything else..."
They've ducked behind their desk now, an animated sort of rattling before they pop right back up with something that looks like a stone tablet. As they set it down on the table, they slap their hands against it as well, some of the liquid forming droplets that quickly evaporate.
"There's a process here, you see. While the tablet is soft, those with claws or hands or well-adjusted paws can carve the writing with ease. It's then passed on to a fire type Pokemon who can bake them into something far more solid, like this. Do try to connect with Charmander on the upper levels if you don't know another Lum Berry fire type; he's rather efficient."
no subject
"Of course - and it's not like you've found any fittin' newcomers who can use fire t'join us esteemed Lums. Yet." He was still learning, after all - perhaps he would learn to wield fire, or perhaps another of his would become a fire-type though evolution. "And I don't think these records'll need to be altered - and if they do, there's always addin' more - no sense erasin' history." Though, he did find a question bubbling at the edge of his mind. And what sort of meeting would this be if he didn't ask about his curiosity? He knew he was rambling. But his calm rambling could also be seen as him sharing information.
"So. There's humans out there. And there's Pokemon here. Those the only sorts of guys?" A beat, as he found himself explaining more. "Back in the Mojave - my home - there weren't just humans. There were mutated humans who were able t'go invisible, th'livin' dead - sort of like you Ghost-types, and all sorts of other sorts. Plus, animals - which were like Pokemon, except not as strong."
A beat.
"Well, there were these big toxic bugs. Fuckin' cazador. But they weren't intelligent."
no subject
For example: the topic moves straight along. They knew they could count on Perrin to value their time.
"Hmm. A valid question, and one I'm afraid I don't have a solid answer to. You see, I could say that as of now, there is no evidence to other species or whatever you'd like to call them, apart from humans and Pokemon." They float this way and that, their magic tea sloshing a little along with the movement. "But a lack of evidence doesn't count as proof! As I'm sure you know well. There may very well be things we've yet to discover in this world. In fact, we're at the hot spot of much of it, on this unknown landmass."
They extend their little arms in a wide gesture. "But at least, for the time being and here within Bottlecap Bay, there are nothing but Pokemon to worry about."
no subject
There's many reasons, of course, not to have explored out there yet. It's dangerous. Or they might have just arrived-- no, things were too established for that. "It's quite good, though. Get people out there, explorin' and figurin' things out. I might be staying in town for the meanwhile, though. After all, we'll need to figure out what to do with th'information we get. And while I'm not fully established, I feel it's a good use of my time figuring out how to not get in th'way with things like not knowing how this body works."
Yet, Perrin seems to know he'll likely be leaving Polteageist soon, to continue on his duties.
LUM
Considering what the citizens of the town would have observed even before the boy was quickly recruited by Polteageist however, maybe it was expected. A human who's spent his life afraid of humans? What a thought.
Some other newcomers have been quick to chat to the little one as well of course. As such, Emporio has been putting together thorough notes in addition to helping with Perrin- he was the one to suggest the dragonite look into a slate in the first place- and so Emporio turns in additional, candid observations. Who's familiar with pokemon and why. What similarities exist between various homelands thus far.
What the actual Arceus a 'cat' is-
He takes great care in putting things in terms other pokemon can properly refer to, often asking others in the guild for advice. And that's the other thing.
Provided they prove he's a welcome presence, it's the locals that Emporio seems quicker to connect to. They're the ones he's shyly asked for recommendations, ideas, thoughts. They're even the ones that wear him down into talking about his nightmares first, for all that the mimikyu in Oran manages the same.
They're the ones who, after finally pulling out that deep worry of his, said 'Talk to Polteageist.'
By the time Emporio approaches Polteageist- no, perhaps because of this timing- he's managed to only barely free himself of his nightmares.
(Or at least, the supernaturally caused ones)
"...The nightmares..."
A correction. Because Emporio has had nightmares since the day he arrived- this is about the nightmares that everyone started having, in February. "...The symptoms from the recent nightmares stopped after speaking to other Pokemon about the source. With limited sources so far, it seems a connecting thread might be self-doubt, and insecurity, but I can't be certain without comparing more data. I..."
There is a pause. A hand twitches to hold his helmet- that he was wearing it when he came in is already a strong sign of his anxiety.
"...I need to ask. If... ...When a way home is found for the ones that appeared here..."
He swallows. Looks to the ground, because even if he's admitted this core fear at last, it doesn't make it easier to seek answers.
"...Would I have to go?"
no subject
So they hover closer, at those words, taking in the information with quiet little nods that slosh the rest of their tea-like body around. And eventually, as that question is asked, they reach out a little purple paw and plop it right on Emporio's shoulder, firm and reassuring.
"We may open doorways here, my friend, but we will never push you through them. The decision will be entirely yours to make, and should anyone attempt to pressure you otherwise, I'll stop at nothing to correct them."
Firm, commanding, with a presence that creates a sort of aura in the room, tense and not at all aimed at Emporio. And just like that, it's gone, eased off and light, and Polteageist moves his hand back, smiling a little.
"And how are your nightmares doing?"
no subject
There is a sigh of relief.
But of course, it can't last for long- Polteageist has cut to the meat of the matter. Emporio's recent nightmares, as he said, Stopped. He talked to other pokemon, both local and otherwise, and they Stopped.
But, Emporio's other nightmares sure haven't, and the grimace on his little cubone face- what can be seen under the helmet- gives that away quite well.
"The ones that stopped at least, were the worst of them. I couldn't get a full night's sleep at all while they happened, but I was able to after. ...Even so..."
Well, there's no hiding That from Polteageist. "...As you might have guessed, that didn't stop the ones I've had since. ...since arriving," he admits, his voice quiet.
"...I don't think those are going to go away as easily." Those ones are strictly a matter of personal trauma- it's a sad truth that can't be avoided.
Cheri!
Here comes your most flamboyant new recruit, Ribombee - rather, Alastor has been having a delightful time using Shadow Sneak outside of its combat capabilities to simply pop up in a room uninvited, already handily fitting in with his ghostliness.
Alastor doesn't act like a stranger, either - cheekily, he tugged the guild leader into a one-armed hug. "Before I go out for a few rounds of quests, pal, let me pick your ear for a moment! Word around town is that Lum is in charge of planning all of the town's expansions. Tell me - surely there's more involvement in the planning process than just that silly little band of scholars?"
no subject
"Now, Alastor, they are our teammates in one sense of the word, you know? Be nice~" Lightly, airy, as if there's no real backing to those words at all. Obligation, maybe, and with a giggle the barely holds back. "But of course there's more to it, silly! A process takes a lot more than one or two steps. Polteageist brings the plans to the table, but Mightyena and myself have plenty of say in the matter, too. Even that little Dedenne gets involved."
His wings flutter, and he stops his slow trailing upwards to instead tilt his head a little at Alastor, curious. "Is there something missing that you find yourself wanting?"

"And the arrival of us off-worlders poses a nice little opportunity. A nice reminder that community comes first before academics! I think it would be wise to get an understanding of these new strange community members and what skills or inventions from their own worlds they can replicate for us here."
After a chuckle, Alastor folded his hands behind his back. "Most importantly! It would make the locals understand the newcomers nicely. Help them come to know what sort of strange oddities we have rattling in our memories. Get some of those lessons put into action to help before the knowledge is plucked and skittered away in books instead of being used. Find a foreign gardener or farmer who knows something new and clever that can grow more food, or a form of communication not reliant on psychic powers. Her answer is a little gruff, but despite how easy it may be to think so, it's not out of any sort of agitation. Her paws slow to a stop, after all, to give her fellow guild member a proper bow of her own head, returning the greeting in kind.
"Have you been adjusting well, now that you're a real member of the Oran Berries?"

"Quite well, thank you for asking! I feel much more at ease in this form now, and I am accustomed to sleeping in close quarters with my Pokemon companions! This is only different in that we are all still getting to know one another!" He pauses for a moment, expression never shifting from his usual frown. "It is good to spend the time with Emmet, as well. We are brothers."
The last is added as an afterthought, as he realizes that he's not quite certain whether she knows that. It's not a secret by any means, but they haven't talked about it before.
