i. Heads or Tails (Guilmon)

This feels fairly familiar. He did this once with Akechi and A.B.A - interviewing Pokemon, searching for clues, and finding a Phantump who was probably sick with whatever A.B.A had. Or... at least, that's the best that Firepaw can guess. There's a part of him that worries that he and Guilmon will have a much harder time with the interview portion, but he feels pretty confident that they can find clues. They are, after all, both creatures used to using their nose.

"I think Stunky mentioned a Pumpkaboo that we could speak to... but I don't actually know what those look like."

Nor does he know what a pumpkin is.

ii. Mad Moonlighter! (Dark Heart)

Firepaw's fur was puffed up when they entered the forest, and after a few minutes it's finally starting to go down. He's gone into the forest several times now, and every time he's experienced fresh horrors, but he's allowed to be afraid as long as he keeps going.

"Keep an eye out for hallucinations." He jumps over a fallen log, and then hops back onto it to make sure Dark Heart can actually follow him without help. "Siffrin mentioned visions when they were here last, showing their death. It's... probably a good thing, but still."

Better than just experiencing the death of his Clanmates, without any real idea of how to help.

"I just mean we'll have a heads-up, if something is going to happen." He slow-blinks in a way that he thinks is reassuring, although it gives zero information to anyone not familiar with cats.

Truthfully, he's just trying to make the most of it. Siffrin mentioned something about... areas where it felt like there was no right answer, every action led to death. So he supposes they'll have to keep an eye out for that too.

"There's a path this way that should be easier to follow... and something reeks over there, so we're probably headed in the right direction."

At least, every predator species seems to smell worse the stronger they are, in Firepaw's experience.

The gesture is lost on Dark Heart, who has never understood kind gestures. Especially as it pertains to himself, especially here.

"Easy street is best, right?"

He starts down the path, sticking close to Firepaw. Very quickly he catches the scent, visibly recoiling.

"Oh, you're not fooling."

"It smells sort of like the Oran berries."

His whiskers are twitching with amusement at his own joke. Although that stops pretty quickly, when he watches himself tumble over a ledge and into a pile of bones - and then blinks, and he's standing at the edge of that ledge. This must be what the visions look like... he shakes his head, as if clearing water from his ears.

"Watch out, the ground is uneven here..." He hesitates, "...That actually wasn't as bad as the visions I got in the Southern Forest."

"Ha, ha," Dark Heart mutters flatly, slowing to a stop about the same time Firepaw does. Maybe it's not his imagination then, the bones that they're walking atop.

He makes a face.

"If you're talking about the bones," He lifts a paw, swatting away a small femur. "That's not a vision."

He doesn't know much but he knows about this. Trust.

Boy, does he hate walking past so many bones, especially when a lot of them are larger than him... but he shakes off his pelt, and tries to keep moving.

"Do you think the bear was eating those Pokemon?"

On principle, there's nothing wrong with that. Everything has to eat. But he can't help feeling antsy, as he picks his way past a carcass that's taller than his head.

"Could be. I've seen someone do it before."

It's pointed, teasing. Dark Heart chuckles a little to himself before he stumbles forward on the bones. Just because he's aware of what's illusion and what's not doesn't make him coordinated.

"... See? Real."

It was intentional-- totally. He was proving a point!
