i. Heads or Tails (Guilmon)

This feels fairly familiar. He did this once with Akechi and A.B.A - interviewing Pokemon, searching for clues, and finding a Phantump who was probably sick with whatever A.B.A had. Or... at least, that's the best that Firepaw can guess. There's a part of him that worries that he and Guilmon will have a much harder time with the interview portion, but he feels pretty confident that they can find clues. They are, after all, both creatures used to using their nose.

"I think Stunky mentioned a Pumpkaboo that we could speak to... but I don't actually know what those look like."

Nor does he know what a pumpkin is.

ii. Mad Moonlighter! (Dark Heart)

Firepaw's fur was puffed up when they entered the forest, and after a few minutes it's finally starting to go down. He's gone into the forest several times now, and every time he's experienced fresh horrors, but he's allowed to be afraid as long as he keeps going.

"Keep an eye out for hallucinations." He jumps over a fallen log, and then hops back onto it to make sure Dark Heart can actually follow him without help. "Siffrin mentioned visions when they were here last, showing their death. It's... probably a good thing, but still."

Better than just experiencing the death of his Clanmates, without any real idea of how to help.

"Yeah! Just like a ghost! So maybe it's a ghost pumpkin?" Giggling, Guilmon follows along, joining in the sniffing. "Digimon can be all kinds of things, so maybe Pokémon are like that too..."

"That makes sense - animals can be a lot of things, too."

Not as many things as Pokemon or Digimon, but still.

They find Pumpkaboo quickly enough - she's speaking to one of the Pokemon running a market stall, and startles a little bit when Firepaw pokes her side to get her attention.

"Excuse me - Stunky said that you might know where Zweilous ended up?"

"Oh! He said someone might ask about them... uh... yeah, I think I saw them near here, actually..." Pumpkaboo thinks for a bit. "They said something about 'recovering what was lost', but... something was off about it. That's all I know, I think."

Firepaw glances at Guilmon, as though looking for instruction - the last time he did this, Akechi at least seemed much more sure of when to believe Pokemon and when to press for more.

[guilmon]

Hmmm... That's not good, it? Guilmon grunts softly, trying to make sense of it. "Maybe they dropped something important? Like bread, or a fun toy..."

Sniff, sniff... He doesn't smell bread nearby, though.

"Or maybe the fog's making him act funny? Guilmon isn't sure..."

[firealone]

Firepaw's ears slide back.

"Hard to say... but it could be. The fog has been making all sorts of Pokemon act strange."

He hesitates, before turning back to the Pumpkaboo.

"Sorry- thank you for the information. Er... do you have something that smells like them?"

"Oh, I do, actually!"

Pumpkaboo produces a bandana from... somewhere? They seem to just be making it float, and at Firepaw's request they hold it out for Guilmon.

"Guilmon, do you think you could track Zweilous's scent? I can try to keep an eye out for things like... blood."

Just in case.

[guilmon]

"Mm! Guilmon's really good at finding smells!" So he'll lean in and take a good whiff. He then turns around, sniffing the air.

"Ah! This way!" He points his claw and hunches over, ready to run.

Just not without Firepaw. That would be rude.
