JUNE 2025 EVENT LOG
⋆✩ THE BOTTLECAP RAFTING FESTIVAL ✩⋆
May Showers long gone, the sun that greets the month of June seems to intensify its brilliance to make up for absence. It’s only the start of the season of Summer, but the heat is already rising by the passing of the day.
For the residents of Bottlecap Bay, this is just another part of life. Once the threats of strange Pokemon and the enraged Dondozo are resolved there’s nothing stopping them from preparing for the end of the month. Banners are being strung across the streets. Signs are being posted at every business door.
But just what is the Dragafloat Festival anyway?
PREPARE FOR A FEAST
Though life in Bottlecap Bay still proceeds with relative normalcy, the air of celebration is impossible to miss after the mid-month passes by. Not content with simply displaying festive banners and flyers for the incoming event, plenty of stores and even small eateries are pulling out all the stops. This holiday celebrates the very first arrival to Bottlecap Bay — but more than that, the timing of their newfound peace can’t be ignored! It’s the kind of chance experience that puts spirits into the highest of moods.
With street foods of all kinds on display, it’s no surprise that Pokemon will see things that weren’t there before. In fact, some shops might even be taking a page from the books of their newly accepted friends, giving their very best attempt at dishes and treats as described to them by these strange foreigners from worlds afar.
The celebratory air isn’t restricted to the daylight hours either. With the battles in the various parts of the woods, the Fog that so afflicted the bay has now receded; only partly, but enough to encourage bolder acts into the night. Local Ghost Pokemon are far more friendly (though no less mischievous) without local suspicions turning their way, and happily dance along great bonfires being erected upon the beach.
As June 20th draws closer, even the Guild Leaders can be seen joining in on the fun. Was that Ribombee with a mug of mead? Did Polteageist just offer to tell a story by the bonfire? It’s said that similar fires were used as signals for other Pokemon to make their way to the shores, but in his very own words, that’s not quite what these blazing towers are for this time. What are they for, in that case?
"Well, that’s just something you’ll have to see for yourselves!"

ii. THE ANNUAL DRAGAFLOAT RACE
ARTISTIC PRIDE
On the morning of the festival, many Pokemon rise much earlier than they normally would. The lone exception belongs to those who were early birds and nocturnal sorts to begin with — in which case they’re not only out and about already, but in some cases staying awake as long as they possibly can. It’s the Dragafloat Race, and for some aspiring extreme artists that means it’s time to show off their Pokemon spirit.
What better way to do that, than express themselves? The Pokemon preparing their paints don’t intend to do that on just any canvas though. They’re here to paint each other, and will happily encourage others to do it as well. Eager to show their skill or teach a new budding artist, it’s time to get creative and try something new.
And preferably, something bright!

ON YOUR MARK…
In the days leading up to the 20th, sign-up sheets will have been seen near to the Quest Board’s typical postings. These sheets require Pokemon to sign up for any one of two roles: Tow, or Passenger. Apparently, the sheets explain, random pair-ups will occur at the start of the race for full fairness.
But what about the race itself? When the day finally arrives, the morning is dedicated to preparation. Uniquely colored rafts are prepared for each team, and various body-painters offer their services to help each team match their float. In the true spirit of the race’s origin, each team is encouraged to choose one of the first Pokemon of Bottlecap to theme their ride around. Samurott perhaps? Maybe Gastrodon? The right to pick the coveted Dragapult is one many fight over, so it may be best to choose one of the less popular ones! Bottlecap wasn’t made by one alone after all.
The race starts in the bay, and ends in the bay; it takes Pokemon far, far out to sea before turning them around as Passengers cheer and support their Tow partner through the entire event. It’s up to the Passenger to protect their partner so that the Tow can focus on swimming. It’s a group effort, and one that takes hours of work to boot!
But with the end of the race in sight by way of massive bonfires sitting in the Bay’s evening light, it’s work that will be well worth it. Do your best, Pokemon of Bottlecap!

Must be a place unique to your world. I've never heard of Norvrant anywhere else yet.
[He'll peck at the food and pause.]
... For a biscuit, it's impressive...
no subject
[She beams at the approval, though!]
Full glad am I to hear it!
no subject
...Anything else you recommend? Or just the ones you mentioned before?
[He's bad at small talk.]
no subject
[You would never think a bean paste would be a good filling for brioche style bread but it is.]
...I...quite enjoy bread. If that wasn't obvious.
no subject
It wasn't. [It was that obvious. Anasui does not sound convincing in the slightest. But it's clear he doesn't quite understand why.] Is there a reason? Or just... the taste?
no subject
no subject
Sounds... nice...
no subject
[Just a subtle indication that he should take this chance to try what new things he encounters. New things are great!]
no subject
Asides from food, what else do you try when you end up in a new place?
no subject
I try to talk to whomever seems in need. Sometimes a helping hand can lead you to places in a city or a stretch of wilderness you might have overlooked, and you can learn a bit of something about the people while you work. What they value, what they cherish, what they know of the land...I like that kind of learning. It comes easier.
Oh! And I like to try to learn new techniques for clothcraft. So many cultures use different materials and have different clothes or things they use fabrics for...there's embroidery patterns and colors you might not see anywhere else...my mother is a weaver and seamstress, I grew up with a great appreciation for the work.
no subject
At least talking about fabrics is more his speed.] Do you like fashion? I used to experiment quite a bit with styles but I was... limited in what I could do.
no subject
[It can be fickle, and it can be fleeting, but oh can it be so fun.]
I...hm. To me, it is important to balance form and function. Sacrificing one for the other, especially forsaking one's comfort, isn't going to do you any good on the battlefield...but when you make things for others you must have their needs in mind. And then, as I said, different cultures use different materials...they weave their fabrics in different patterns...to learn of them is a wonderful challenge.
[The kimono of Doma and Kugane. The silks of Thavnair. The vibrant colors of Tural. Gods above, there was no end to man's creativity in this small regard.]
As adventurers, it's a common practice to make our armor look different from what we're actually wearing. Glamours, essentially. And I don't quite understand where the word came from, but I do agree with it - many will say "glamour is endgame". It means that once the dust settles, the most rewarding thing to do is to make yourself look and feel the part of the adventurer you wish to be.
[Ah, she wishes she could show the others her own choice in attire. Something about the disparate pieces collected over her journey made her feel so, so right. And good, and. And confident! And she knew she was always protected and safe no matter what the glamour hid beneath.]
But t'was also nice to experiment. To have options for occasions...to see what can flatter the body without needless restriction. The way I am normally, my body is...I don't look right in a lot of popular things, for women. [She just puts that lightly, because we don't need to get into her own self-doubts.] Oh, and to dye things freely! I favored blue, but that in itself comes in so many shades and hues, you can make something completely unique even if someone else is wearing similar pieces! And the way the fabric type interacts with the color, and...
[Anasui are you sure you want her to ramble about this]
no subject
But these glamours sound interesting. I assume it's an illusion that lets you style yourselves however you want without sacrificing practicality. I know a lot of people that would kill for that.
[Well, she can always share her thoughts with him through their Grumpearls and literally beam the image over from her mind. Anasui could show his clothing of choice too, though it's a little more... outlandish than Firoza's.
He tilts his head curiously. It's been a long time he's heard an info dump from anyone except Emporio. It's... not awful. However, he will interrupt her mid-ramble.] Have you tried dyeing anything here? Or any form of sewing? I know there are Pokemon that make accessories. You should be one of them if you like it so much.
no subject
Yes, that's it exactly! You would be surprised at how many adventurers wish to look...incredibly unexpected.
[So many people in 2B Leggings...]
Oh, yes, I've been working on relearning in this new body. I can't handle a needle with as much ease as I used to, so it's been some trouble, but simple things...processing fiber into fabric, and simple stitches...it's coming back.
[She misses the ease of old skills but the challenge is one she relishes, truly.]
no subject
[And to be fair, the 2B leggings are good leggings and go so well with everything.]
... I'm thinking of commissioning someone to make me some accessories to match my hat. If you're half-way decent, I'll keep you in mind. [Technically Anasui asking nicely if she wants to take up an extra job or not, even if it doesn't sound like it.]
no subject
[You want to give her a project?? Please!]
no subject
no subject
[It's like wearing a linkpearl, it's just second nature to have it on her person at all times.]
Whenever you're ready.
no subject
The boots are unnecessary. And I already have the hat as you see. But trying to describe fishnets to anyone else would be a pain, and I need a functional belt for my bird body. What do you think?
no subject
[Anasui just gets a brief glimpse of what some attendants at the Gold Saucer wear. Some of them have fishnet stockings! Its not that weird.]
Ah, nevermind - tis a unique ensemble. I'm not sure how easy it would be to replicate exactly, but I could certainly try.
no subject
It doesn't have to be exact. Just... something familiar, I guess. Something about clothes being comforting and all that. [It probably means more to Anasui than he himself realises.]
no subject
[The fashions of the land of Florida must certainly be beyond her...]
...I will give it my best effort. When it comes to feeling comfortable as yourself, I quite agree.
no subject
At least in Araki's Florida, it sure is beyond everyone. Anasui isn't even the weirdest.]... Alright. But if you find it too hard, or can't be bothered, let me know. I'll find someone else to do it.
[Thank you. He appreciates it.]
