JUNE 2025 EVENT LOG
⋆✩ THE BOTTLECAP RAFTING FESTIVAL ✩⋆
May Showers long gone, the sun that greets the month of June seems to intensify its brilliance to make up for absence. It’s only the start of the season of Summer, but the heat is already rising by the passing of the day.
For the residents of Bottlecap Bay, this is just another part of life. Once the threats of strange Pokemon and the enraged Dondozo are resolved there’s nothing stopping them from preparing for the end of the month. Banners are being strung across the streets. Signs are being posted at every business door.
But just what is the Dragafloat Festival anyway?
PREPARE FOR A FEAST
Though life in Bottlecap Bay still proceeds with relative normalcy, the air of celebration is impossible to miss after the mid-month passes by. Not content with simply displaying festive banners and flyers for the incoming event, plenty of stores and even small eateries are pulling out all the stops. This holiday celebrates the very first arrival to Bottlecap Bay — but more than that, the timing of their newfound peace can’t be ignored! It’s the kind of chance experience that puts spirits into the highest of moods.
With street foods of all kinds on display, it’s no surprise that Pokemon will see things that weren’t there before. In fact, some shops might even be taking a page from the books of their newly accepted friends, giving their very best attempt at dishes and treats as described to them by these strange foreigners from worlds afar.
The celebratory air isn’t restricted to the daylight hours either. With the battles in the various parts of the woods, the Fog that so afflicted the bay has now receded; only partly, but enough to encourage bolder acts into the night. Local Ghost Pokemon are far more friendly (though no less mischievous) without local suspicions turning their way, and happily dance along great bonfires being erected upon the beach.
As June 20th draws closer, even the Guild Leaders can be seen joining in on the fun. Was that Ribombee with a mug of mead? Did Polteageist just offer to tell a story by the bonfire? It’s said that similar fires were used as signals for other Pokemon to make their way to the shores, but in his very own words, that’s not quite what these blazing towers are for this time. What are they for, in that case?
"Well, that’s just something you’ll have to see for yourselves!"

ii. THE ANNUAL DRAGAFLOAT RACE
ARTISTIC PRIDE
On the morning of the festival, many Pokemon rise much earlier than they normally would. The lone exception belongs to those who were early birds and nocturnal sorts to begin with — in which case they’re not only out and about already, but in some cases staying awake as long as they possibly can. It’s the Dragafloat Race, and for some aspiring extreme artists that means it’s time to show off their Pokemon spirit.
What better way to do that, than express themselves? The Pokemon preparing their paints don’t intend to do that on just any canvas though. They’re here to paint each other, and will happily encourage others to do it as well. Eager to show their skill or teach a new budding artist, it’s time to get creative and try something new.
And preferably, something bright!

ON YOUR MARK…
In the days leading up to the 20th, sign-up sheets will have been seen near to the Quest Board’s typical postings. These sheets require Pokemon to sign up for any one of two roles: Tow, or Passenger. Apparently, the sheets explain, random pair-ups will occur at the start of the race for full fairness.
But what about the race itself? When the day finally arrives, the morning is dedicated to preparation. Uniquely colored rafts are prepared for each team, and various body-painters offer their services to help each team match their float. In the true spirit of the race’s origin, each team is encouraged to choose one of the first Pokemon of Bottlecap to theme their ride around. Samurott perhaps? Maybe Gastrodon? The right to pick the coveted Dragapult is one many fight over, so it may be best to choose one of the less popular ones! Bottlecap wasn’t made by one alone after all.
The race starts in the bay, and ends in the bay; it takes Pokemon far, far out to sea before turning them around as Passengers cheer and support their Tow partner through the entire event. It’s up to the Passenger to protect their partner so that the Tow can focus on swimming. It’s a group effort, and one that takes hours of work to boot!
But with the end of the race in sight by way of massive bonfires sitting in the Bay’s evening light, it’s work that will be well worth it. Do your best, Pokemon of Bottlecap!

CW: past injury, and vague series spoilers
The one that highlighted perhaps, just how unfathomable his situation was.
Flowey is the first to focus on the rest of it, perhaps. Not that no one else didn't find it harsh, but.
The firelight enhances contrasts. It casts shadows and shines a strange brilliant light.
Emporio's arms are littered with odd, spiderwebbing scars, like from electricity.
But what's more worrying perhaps...is the clear, smooth, round one at his shoulder.]
...sometimes I wonder, if I could've left. ...maybe it was just the one who killed mom I had to worry about. Maybe...because he didn't know I was there, nothing would have happened.
...but...
...I think, even knowing all the bad, I'm glad I was too scared to try. It meant I met Weather Report, and Anasui. Jolyne, Hermes, and Foo Fighters...and...
[Quieter. Quieter, quieter still.]
....even if the world is probably gone now...it meant that man couldn't sacrifice their souls to trap the rest of the world in hell.
[It's a hypersimplification, yes.
An unintentionally relevant one, perhaps.]
i like how this is the same thread as flowey eating entire nana
He doesn't exactly feel things like 'sympathy', but he does listen without interrupting, and he does understand-- at least, on some level. He used to be so scared, too. And while he wouldn't say he's 'glad' all of that happened to him... he's begun to try to move past regrets.
The last part of Emporio's speech is absolutely insane, but honestly, he's used to it. He did try and do something similar, himself.]
The past is the past. There's no going back to change it. [Ironic, coming from someone who reset the timeline so many times-- but he was never able to go back far enough to redo the one thing that really mattered.] Whether you did the right thing or the wrong thing... it doesn't matter. You were doing the only thing you could. So don't worry about it.
[He's lost his appetite. He watches Emporio eat the roasted banana instead. When he speaks again, his voice is significantly more cheerful.]
And you got to meet me, right? Hee hee!
Undertale and JJBA handshaking in their dualities-
His eyes are watering. That's a bit stupid, isn't it? He's smiling, but his eyes are watering...] Sn...mmngh...
[He tries to sniff the incoming tears and sounds back, but it fails rather spectacularly. It's not even what they were talking about. It's stupid, isn't it?
They weren't talking about the end of his world. But-]
Y...yeah.
Yeah, I did. I did the best I could, and...
[Deep breaths. In and out.] ...Pfhhah-! ...Yeah. ...
It's been nice, to meet people my age.
I'm glad we're friends, Flowey.
no subject
Emporio is crying. He doesn't know how to respond to that, either.] H-hey, come on, buddy! It's okay! ["Big kids don't cry" is on the tip of his tongue. He doesn't say that. Chara... didn't always give the best advice.
Being free now, sunlight on his face... meeting people who care about him, even when he's a jerk sometimes... he hasn't stopped to really look back, and when he has, it's only been at all the injuries and embarrassments. But this experience... it has been unexpectedly... nice. He feels warm. It's strange. He doesn't know what to think.]
I... uh...
... Yeah. Me too. [He can't bring himself to say it.]
no subject
I guess even if we weren't talking about it, what you said was important to something else though, so...
[He tries to think of...something. Anything else really, to talk about. Best not to really make it awkward, right?]
...The banana is pretty good. They said they're going to roast marshmallows later, too. ...Have you ever had those?
[The tone and expression are...unfortunately clear, in that Emporio at least, hasn't.]
no subject
[Important to something else? Is this about regret? Did he actually say something profound? He wants to pry, but Emporio is already crying, and Flowey doesn't get any do-overs if he screws this up. He's already bewildered enough he did something right.]
I've had marshmallows! Though all monster food in the Underground where I came from was made of magic, so it must be different. Have you?
no subject
[Mostly it's the prison thing doing that. But-]
Nope. I normally went into the cafeteria after it was cleared out, so I'm sure if there were marshmallows at all, they got devoured. Everything I read and heard said they were a great treat after all.
Oh! But I read something really neat about them in a book- apparently, the idea to make marshmallows came from a plant called 'marsh-mallow'! It stuck so much, that some people thought they were even made from the plant!
...but it's really just sugar, gelatin, and water. And air, technically. Which is probably why they're so easy to mass produce I guess...
[Oh he really tears off when expositing huh-]
...if all your food was made of magic, what made it taste differently? From different monster foods, I mean? Maybe they were still the same as marshmallows.
no subject
[He ponders the question.] Think of it like this. A giant monster with tons of teeth and claws is still a monster, the same as a tiny little slime. Both of them have monster souls, eat monster food, and turn to dust when they die. What makes them different if they're both made up of the same stuff?
[That... might not have made sense to him at all.]
Or, maybe like this. I read about this one in a book, once, myself! Everything's made up of little particles you can't see. If everything is made of the same particles, how is a hamburger any different from a marshmallow?
Im so sorry Flowey
[Mostly Anasui, wildly enough.]
Hmmmm....
[Anyway, time to think about how Flowey is explaining. He almost says something about molecules and elements...but then realizes something that actually makes more sense here.] Okay... ...oh!
I think I get it. So...when it comes to a hamburger and a marshmallow, in the end, even the tiny pieces making them up still have differences. What you're talking about are atoms- which in turn, make up elements. And elements then make molecules.
What makes them different is how they're configured- even atoms have smaller parts, and depending on how many of those parts they have, you have a different element. [Oh lord he just keeps going.]
...But there are also elemental molecules that are only formed of one element of atom. And depending on how many atoms there are, that changes a whole lot about the result we see! So what you're saying means...
...even though the molecules between a hamburger and a marshmallow are wildly different...the stuff that makes monsters- uh, at least, monsters in your world- is configured differently between each and everything and everyone, resulting in the same base components no matter what!
[....]
...At least, that seems right to me...I wouldn't know unless a monster wrote about the theory really...
no subject
Flowey takes that in stride, but the rest of his explanation leaves him speechless. He used to think he was pretty smart, having read all the books in the Underground, but monsters have never been exactly known for being scholarly.]
Golly! You're a genius, Emporio!
[With his ego bruised, Flowey uses his best skill: lying.]
It didn't work like that in my world, though. Pretty weird, huh? Guess it's just like how we didn't have Stands, either. Hee hee.
no subject
[Huh, wild. He seems more put off by Flowey now than he did ever before.]
It...it really isn't me being smart. I just read a lot of books... ...I mean there wasn't a lot of anything else to do...
[Wild.]
...maybe we should talk about something else...
[A good question Flowey may want to ask himself- ...If Emporio grew up in a prison, how many liars has he seen?]
no subject
[...]
Okay, fine, you got me! I didn't know any of that stuff! I don't even really know why monster food is different from each other! Monsters just don't... really ask questions about that kind of stuff.
[He coughs.] Uh... how about...
... sports?
no subject
It's Emporio, it seems, who feels ashamed.]
It..it's okay not to know stuff. I mean...I don't think anyone I knew, knew the stuff I read about. It makes sense not to- they had other things to do. They could go outside, or even just talk to a friend on the phone...R..really, even though I read so much, it feels more like I never knew anything about the world at all. I...
[Sports...hahaaa...]
...I used to have a baseball. There was a ghost uniform from...I guess when the prison had a team? It fit enough that I could use that for clothes, and I didn't really want to use the prison uniforms I found... ...but, I found a baseball, and a glove with those things.
I used to throw the ball back and forth in the stairwell near the ghost room entrance- the cameras are faulty there, so I wouldn't get spotted.
no subject
... Well, Emporio isn't 'any other kid'. This guy might have more issues than he does.]
... So what's the difference between a 'ghost uniform' and a regular uniform? Did you find it in your ghost room or something?
[He and Asgore- his father, a long time ago- used to play catch. He doesn't want to talk about it.]
no subject
There are better reasons, and all that.]
Really, just the fact that it's a ghost object. I keep saying ghost, but...being made of 'ghost' isn't a literal thing. They're made of memory, is what it is. The best way I can explain it is...
...the planet has a memory of its own. A memory of anything that ever happened on it, or sat upon it. And my Stand...my special power, it let me interact with those memories. The ghost room I grew up in used to be a real room at the prison- but it burned down long before I was born, and got built over.
Pockets like that were all over the prison...and that was where I found the uniform.
And well...since it's a ghost object, nothing can ever change about it. So it was pretty much perfect, as far as clothes that wouldn't get dirt got.
no subject
[He wants to ask more about 'Stands', but he's not sure if now's the time. It's difficult, not knowing how to talk to new people anymore.]
... Still hungry?
no subject
[He might not have asked about Stands, but he's about to get a window.] That's cool if you do!! No one's actually had a clue what I was talking about...and even at home, ghost objects were something I had to give access to for someone to even get to them. That was how my Stand worked- it might not have been good in a fight...
...I mean it couldn't even manifest...
...but it was still something I could do!
[Oh right, the nana... Flushed, he quickly goes to finish it off.]
R-right. Finished now, now we can wait on marshmallows.
no subject
Hmm... let's just say for now that I don't really 'age'. When you said nothing can ever change about a ghost object, well... hee hee. [He shrugs as if it's not a big deal.]
I'm full. [Full of nana.] I'll look forward to those marshmallows, though! And I'll be ready if they've got a peel!
no subject
[Interestingly, he doesn't seem to be concerned about that- simply curious, as he adds-] ....Even now? In this body?
[Emporio nods though, leaning back in his seat.] Great. We can wait for them then!
no subject
[He pauses. Oh.]
I... don't... know.
[Is he aging??? Is he getting old? He ditches Emporio and stares in the nearest reflective surface. Is he taller than yesterday? Is he going to die???? Oh no. Oh no.]
no subject
[Did he give Flowey an existential crisis...]
A...Are you okay..?
no subject
...
... no. But let's talk about this later. [He doesn't want to ruin the entire festival, anyway.] I'm going to... go. Sleep off all the banana. And think. Have a good time.
no subject
[...Is what he says, nodding slowly. He's not...upset, it seems. Not exactly thrilled, but he's not...disappointed.
Maybe he was willing to talk- but, at least on Emporio's end, he recognizes that the other party needs to be ready and able as well.]
...Sleep well, ok?
