When the party is going, and he's made sure everything he's responsible for is in order, he goes up to Flowey. He's carrying a small satchel. Inside: an assortment of poffins, because he's not sure what flavor Flowey prefers.

So grumpy, and that on your birthday, [Ren says with a grin.] Not enjoying your party?

It'd be nice, I guess, [he says with a small smile,] but I don't find it that important, either. It's your birthday, isn't it?
[He'd much rather do something for someone else. Not like he's really celebrated his birthday properly in a few years, beyond the obligated 'happy birthday' from his parents (and even then, they didn't even bother with a text, last year). It's not something he really misses, or feels attached to.]
Hmm, y'know, if you hate it that much, you could just leave, [he says with a grin.] But you're still here. Why is that?

Something about Ren's whole demeanor changes. He doesn't lose the smile, but it gains a distinctive, horribly hurt edge. One that he's trying to hide, mostly effectively, too. If you look properly, you'll notice, but if you're only looking for surface reactions...]
Something like that, [he says lightly.] You figured it out.
[He thought Akechi was dead. He'd hoped, after the engine room, but he knew, knew it was unlikely. When Maruki brought Akechi back- Akechi could've been dead. Ren thought he was killing him, again, but taking Maruki's deal would've been killing him just the same. Just in another way. Akechi's body would be alive, but what made him Akechi-
He's glad he chose otherwise. He's so glad. But Akechi could've been permanently dead, and it would've been his fault.]

Flowey's own emotional state may be a chaotic mess, and he may not have love or empathy, but he can at least recognize when other people are going through it. Usually, that's been to exploit their weaknesses, but he's becoming a 'better person' or something now.

I don't know what happened. All he said was that someone saw something in him. Some potential for good, despite everything. Or some mushy crap like that.
[So it's no wonder he's here. If he's that much of a stupid optimist, Ren would probably believe in Flowey, right?
... Well, there's also some romantic stuff going on with those two that he doesn't know or want to know about. But still.]
Besides, it worked out! He's here and nothing's getting rid of that know-it-all now. Hee hee.

Obviously! I stalked people for days without them noticing! [That's concerning, but okay. ... He also had the ability to dig underground at a moment's notice back then, which he doesn't now, but it's probably fine.] I'll get the berries, you make sure the coast is clear tonight!

[Then, he straightens out, slipping into an easy smile, and says a bit more loudly,] Well, hope you enjoy your party, Flowey. Happy birthday again.
[He turns around to go mingle with everyone else. Or, at least, that's what he appears to be doing... he may be eavesdropping on what everyone's plans are for the evening so they can avoid them.]
