Who: Flowey & Emporio, Anasui, Akechi, Firoza, and maybe YOU!
What: Quests, discussing Theories, hearing stories, and rumors of a certain boy's birthday (aka-- I decided Flowey's birthday is on the Undertale anniversary, September 15th)
Where: Furnace Mountain, in & around Death Blood Murder Skull Town
When: Throughout September
Warnings: Potential Pokemon battling (violence/injury), Flowey's trauma (mentions of/themes of depression, depersonalization, guilt, child death, murder)

[... Flowey doesn't really want to fight Anasui. Not right now, at least. Golbat could easily tattle on him to Ribombee. And Emporio is right there.]

Fine. Put me down or whatever, Mickey Mouse boy. Throw me down there again and I'll teach Emporio how to swear.

Emporio already knows how to fucking swear. Why would you think I cared about that?

[Anasui does recognise that Flowey is standing down though. The Espathra releases his hold on Flowey, and while he doesn't try soften the short drop, he does make sure he's not taking his temper out on Flowey by slamming him down into the ground.

With that done, he looks up at the Pokemon they're escorting and talks as if their group hasn't just been squabbling.]

We'll wait here until you're ready to go down to the caves, Golbat.

[Thanks Anasui. He can always count on you to act like things are totally normal.

Unfortunately, while Anasui is doing that, and while Golbat is extra doing that, Emporio can't exactly...do that.

He sighs in relief- not only at the lack of a fight, but at the fact that comparatively speaking, Flowey goes down rather gently- and after a moment of silence decides he has to ask the one thing on his mind now.]

....How come you thought I don't know how to swear?

Um... because you're, y'know. A kid?

[Two things may become apparent to the observant:

1. Flowey is also a kid.

2. Flowey doesn't know how to swear.]

[Unfortunately for Flowey, Anasui is pretty observant when it comes to these sort of things and he notices immediately. However, Anasui isn't the type to actually comment unless it concerns him, so he just gives a quiet snort and keeps watch...]

[Well, small mercies at least. He keeps his voice down so that Anasui probably wouldn't be able to hear.]

...People are supposed to watch their words around kids, but when they don't know a kid is there, you hear plenty of them, sorry to say.

[Emporio knows swears!]

...I just never really found they were necessary I guess? At least, no one really deserved the real ones for the most part...

[And in that situation, he had other things to focus on, like not dying.]

[Flowey tries to whisper in Emporio's ear, but he can barely contain his excitement.] Emporio!! Teach me the worst swear word you know right NOW!

Huh???

[For Flowey's sake, he will whisper back.]

The worst one?? The worst ones are always targeted, there's like 20 of those...

[HE HAS TWENTY 'WORST' SWEARS???]

[He should've brought a pen and paper!!!!!!!!!] Okay, okay! Let's go alphabetical. Let's start now!

[Golbat isn't the only one learning today!]

Oh geeze...uh...

[Oh god. He's going to start. It's faltering though, mostly because even if he's heard them and knows them he has to one, figure out mentally if it's actually alphabetical, and then two, figure out if it's an acceptable insult to even share.

He's not going to go repeating slurs himself, let alone try teaching them...

About five swears in- he has to explain them dammit!- he looks around at the others.] ...Do we need to focus on anything..?

[Flowey immediately turns to Anasui.] Howdy, you rat bastard! Suck on-- [I'm not typing out all the swears he immediately unloads.]

[Anasui turns to Flowey when he hears his name and stares blankly at him as he's slammed with an onslaught of insults and swears. His expression doesn't change much but he does let out a small sigh, suddenly extremely tired. He gives Emporio a look, almost as if begging him to let him kick Flowey for real if not outright stab the child, before he turns back at their other companion.]

... Yes. Do we need to focus on anything, Golbat?

[Golbat shakes their head and extends a wing out to the cave. They're ready to go! Onwards! Just try keep the noise down... caves echo, after all!]

FLOWEY-!!!

[So he hisses the moment the words 'rat bastard' comes out of that seed's mouth!!!

There is a tense moment of gawking astonishment while he looks between Flowey and Anasui, and finally Anasui just....

Takes the higher road. Woah.

He's going to get that bird SUCH an ikea disaster to play with later, mark his words, he'll find a guy.

For now though with a quiet, exhausted sigh, he focuses on his friend.]

Why...did you do that..?

Yeah, let's just go into the caves. I know my way around in there, thanks to you.

[Golbat is Arceus's strongest soldier for not turning around and going home.

Flowey follows along, sticking close to Emporio in case a Fire-type tries to ambush them. When Emporio asks him 'why', Flowey just blinks.]

You taught me all sorts of awesome new words! I just wanted to show you that I understood them properly. Hee hee.

[... He doesn't actually know why. He wants to say it's because Anasui is fun to mess with, but he's not, really. He's being such a 'good person' about it all. He thought for sure that Anasui would've snapped and tried to kill him by now.

(Well, he would if he knew how bad Flowey actually is, he thinks.)]

[Anasui's so stressed out, man. He hasn't felt this level of disrespect since he watched a close friend have a sudden personality shift and electrocute a man. And then ignore him! Honestly, Anasui could really use a car right now to dismantle...

For now, Anasui settles on taking the lead. Admittedly, he may or may not be looking for a wild Pokemon to give him an excuse to maul them but these tunnels are pretty clear.

Eventually, Golbat will find a nice spot, stop the group and get to work.

(Also yes, absolutely, Flowey. He would. But then again, he would stop the second Emporio asked him to. Flowey may deserve it but he's not a threat now...)]

[Emporio grumbles, and rubs his head underneath the helmet. He can't speak immediately, honestly. He can't properly think of just what to say to that, because it's pretty darn clear that Flowey's doing this on purpose, but-]

...We're supposed to be cooperating, [he finally says quietly.]

...I know...I know Anasui isn't the nicest, and I know he gets focused on...on a lot of things, on the precision, the perfection, I know he fights, [Emporio carries on, voice low as he waits before following after the others.] ....but he's still my friend.

...He looked after me. ...He was the second person I ever knew, and he looked after me. ...He still looks after me, [he emphasizes. He tries to put as much of the meaning into his words. The importance of it. He was Alone. He could have been even more alone, coming here. His world is gone. He should be alone.

This is all that's left from that place.]

You don't have to like him, just...

...Maybe don't antagonize him on purpose..?

That moron started it! [Flowey says, and then hates that he said that. Ugh, he sounds like a child.] He kept threatening to kill me. And he launched me down this stupid tunnel and didn't come find me like you did. I don't see you telling him to be nicer.

[Flowey supposes not actively killing him is a kindness for Anasui.]

[... but. He gets it.

Anasui sucks. But so does he! And Emporio still likes him for some weird reason.]

... Whatever. Fine.

[He turns to Anasui.]

I'm sorry.

[It's the most insincere, "the teacher told me I have to apologize" apology ever.]

[Emporio likes them both for some reason. Does it mean that Emporio's standards are low? Or does that mean that both Anasui and Flowey deserve a chance?

...

Anasui looks up at Flowey when he hears the Sunkern shuffle and rolls his eyes.]

You should be. [But he gives a big sigh. He knows what should come next after this social cue but he doesn't like it.] But... I'm sorry too. You may be a brat but I shouldn't have thrown you off like that. It's not your fault you're legless.

[Are you proud of him, Emporio?]

[He's very proud. He's so proud.

Emporio genuinely looks a little weepy, even if he clearly picked up on the 'that's not a real apology'.

That the cubone is actually wiping at his eyes now, probably means...something?

It means something, and he nods to them both.]

It's like I said, right? ...You guys don't have to like each other...or even be sorry, for that matter, [he coughs, because it's honestly better for him if Flowey is honest.] Just try not to perpetuate a cycle.

...You, uh. ...You both get pretty invested in payback, it feels like.

[What??? Them???

Never.]

Who, me? Never!

[~~Cue audience laugh track.~~

... joking aside, he's actually surprised Anasui apologized to him.]

Armless, too. You get used to it.

[With that said, he continues hopping along the tunnels after Golbat. The scholar seems to be on the trail of something interesting, so Flowey keeps a close eye on him.]

... When I died, I lost a lot of my, uh... [He doesn't want to say 'soul'.] ... 'humanity'. So to speak. It's hard for me to really feel sorry. But I won't say that mean stuff anymore. Disney had some okay movies, after all. I suppose.

Hm? Do we now? [Anasui pauses, considering what Emporio said. He supposes that's true, especially here, where things are 'kinder'. Before, if he ever bothered to get 'payback', he'd make sure it wouldn't ever become a cycle with force.

But back to Flowey. Anasui rolls his eyes gestures to his wings, showing that he was armless too and was indeed getting used to it. But then he nods quietly.

So the kid did die alongside being immortal. And he did come back different. Surprisingly, Anasui can relate to some aspects of what he said, and it fills the man with a new sense of understanding. Anasui follows along, thinking carefully before he speaks again.]

... Understood. I'll try be more patient so you feel like you don't have to say mean shit. [Anasui gives a small smirk.] And... fair. Disney has some really bad ones but some really good ones as well. Maybe you just haven't seen the better ones.

Well, at least you guys know what movies are okay and not, [Emporio chimes in, very much not intending to be depressing all over.

He's clearly pleased though. As long as his friends and loved ones can at least co-exist....well, he'll take it.]

I think just taking those steps are enough, though. You can work toward 'humanity', or...whatever you'd normally call it, too. Like Foo Fighters, maybe... [he mutters, though the last bit seems mostly for himself.]

The ones with singing princesses and crap are so BORING. Now, Fantasia? THERE'S a good movie. [They were limited to whatever washed up in the garbage dump and still worked in a tape player, though, so he doesn't have much experience.

He decides to ignore the cheesy crap Emporio is talking about. He's had enough of that for one day. Sorry, Emporio.]

[Anasui hears what Emporio has to say and nods slightly. He knows that's mostly directed to Flowey but he feels like it's directed at him too. Working towards 'humanity', one step at a time.

In any case, he snorts loudly.] Fantasia is a good movie but I'm shocked you don't think Sleeping Beauty is awesome. Few movies have a guy throw a sword into a dragon's heart.

[The Golbat... has no idea what they're talking about but they're done with their research. Time to go!]
