[ Who could've possibly let it slip? Was it Chara?

It wasn't not Chara. My, what motives their best friend ascribes to them, though. Surely they would not do something so mean-spirited...? For all that Flowey might claim to be miserable or above it all, there's at least a few moments they'd noted as they drifted by, lurking in the shadows of the dense canopy above, where his excitement betrayed himself.

So Flowey's made friends despite himself. What a thought. This world ...

When the proceedings have quieted down somewhat, and fewer Pokemon remain, Chara drifts up through the floor. Their mask is nowhere to be seen, leaving them free to lounge idly in odd positions in the air in defiance of gravity. ]

And so the passage of time continues apace. It is still strange to think of, is it not?

[Flowey's excitement betrays him a few times, as Chara noticed. There may also have been a few times where they noticed that he was visibly looking for someone.

By the time Chara shows up, most of the sweets have already been eaten. Flowey has stubbornly saved one of the last chocolate-flavored confections. He's finally thrown off the party hat and is wearing his new skull-print beanie proudly.]

Howdy! Finally decided to show up, huh? Welcome to my amazing Cheri Guild housing!

[It's... still pretty pathetic, even though he clearly tried to make it look nicer. A pile of leaves in the corner must be his bed. The various food offerings have been placed on massive palm leaves which otherwise rest on the ground in lieu of a table. A few basic party decorations and games have been brought in, but otherwise, the room is empty. Flowey's little satchel rests in another corner, stuffed full of various seeds. The only thing of note in the room is a Sun Stone, sitting on a little shelf on the wall, glowing faintly in the natural light.]

That's right. It sucks. You already knew I was bluffing, didn't you?

I was not going to say anything.

[ Maybe it's a little unfair that even like this, their poker face is as inscrutable as ever. The benefits of being a ghost without very obviously expressive features.

They do, however, raise their arms in an approximation of a casual shrug, tail swinging: ] But yes, I might have had an idea. [ Might have. ] I have tried to get a general idea of where it is we've found ourselves, after all.

[ That said, they do find themself curious... ]

Does it not discomfort you, having the leaves covered?

[ How much does and does he not have in common with a 'normal' plant? Flower monsters were not exactly a common sight in the Underground, for perhaps a number of obvious reasons. ]

[Flowey will complain forever about his crappy roofless abode out of principle, but as a plant, he actually doesn't mind it too much. Fresh air, sunlight, rainfall... after spending so long in the Underground, it's refreshing. Still, he has to maintain appearances.]

It's kind of like wearing a big scarf over your nose and mouth. I can still 'breathe', but it takes some getting used to. I've got to find some way to adapt to winter. [Maybe he'll evolve before it really starts snowing... though he isn't counting on it.]

Your turn! What happened to your mask? Easier to lurk around without it, right?

It is around. I have not lost it, if that is what you are asking... but it is easier, yes.

I believe it is akin to a tether, of sorts? Much like how you do not see Polteageist far from their teapot. Unlike them, it appears I can stray further from it ... to a degree. Not far enough to be going on missions without it, unfortunately.

[ They hum a little though, thoughtfully, as they drift their way around the residence. ]

And what are your thoughts on how to handle the upcoming winter?

Huh, neat! I wonder if you could change your tether...? Maybe find a new suitable mask... or host. [He's not suggesting they join bodies again. It didn't go so well the first time. But, ever the pessimist, he's wondering if the mask could break.

Surely it could be repaired? It likely wouldn't regenerate on its own, as if it were biological material... but then again, Pokemon are weird.

As for their question, he doesn't... actually know. As far as he's been able to read (when he can get into the Lum archives, and actually find what he's looking for), Grass-types don't suffer any type of mass extinction in Winter. But he's already struggling even just as the temperatures start to dip for Autumn's approach, and the potential increase in the amount of Ice-types proves worrisome.

He used to be fine in Snowdin, at least for a while. Somehow, he doesn't think bringing up the past around Chara will lead to any positive outcome, though.]

Get someone to build me a stupid roof already. Wear my handy new hat. Try not to die. You know, like always. I don't suppose you'd let your old pal Flowey warm up in your place?

You dare trespass upon a private haunt? Supposedly there are ghost-types that have killed for less.

[ A haunting, empty gaze, all the lines of their body mere suggestions and oddly more jagged at the same time, as if akin to a creature with fur or feathers bristling, as if they haven't invited him over before. ]

[ But, like flipping a switch, they settle back with their usual smile. ]

Hahaha. Well, I suppose I will have to allow it so long as you ask politely.

[ They are hardly about to let him freeze. (What are the guildsmembers of Cheri supposed to do, though, when their residences are like this...?) A different tether, though... Like the ghosts of the Underground, then? Trading bodies or simply being without until they find the one that suits them best? It is a thought... ]

I do not believe I am that kind of ghost. Still, I have no confirmation for certain, or at least I have not yet read anything to that nature. It is a subject worth at least some exploration.

[For a moment, it's like he's Asriel again and nothing changed. In lieu of fur to bristle, his stem stands up like an exclamation point out of alarm and his pupils dilate.

Then he bursts into laughter.]

Hee hee hee! So you really have gotten better at your creepy face!

[Has he ever consciously thought about the fact that his own evil smile is a simulacrum of their own? Maybe. Maybe not. He's too busy chuckling to put it on right now, anyway.]

Hmm... how about something cool instead of a boring old mask? Like a knife! [He does not know that Honedge exists at this point.]

I would hope I have, all things considered.

[ Imagine not being better at creepy faces when you're an actual literal ghost now! ]

As for the knife ... I have a suspicion that even if it were possible, it would have to be something with some amount of existing significance to me.

[ The mask is literally their face. Probably not just any knife will do!

... maybe they should start carrying one around? ]

Any old knife isn't good enough, huh? You need a real knife. ... probably won't be as good as what you can do already in this new form, though. Hee hee.

[The mask was their face, indeed. Flowey thought, honestly, they'd be eager to get rid of the last vestige of their humanity. He thinks about objects that are important to Chara. Chocolate... that one sweater they knitted for Asgore...

... the locket.

But that's long gone. It's not worth thinking about.
