The tragedy of being about a foot tall, is it's very easy for him to get bumped into. Doesn't matter that Anasui is nearby, it's a fact of life, and really not a huge issue.

Most of the time.

"Ack-!"

He tries not to drop his tablet, and breathes a sigh of relief when it doesn't go crashing out from his arms.

"I-it's okay, just try to watch where you're going..."

That might be a problem.

Anasui turns around, away from the shelf he was looking at as he hears the small commotion. He raises an eyebrow, immediately recognising the small Sylveon.

"Ah. It's you. You didn't get lost in the fog. What are you doing here?"

Oh hey! Dolly met these two vague blobs before, it's been some time since the Skull Town Festival. Right..the fog? Is it known to eat Pokemon here? Well another to add to the list of things to avoid.

"Yep, I got pretty lucky with getting into a group earlier for going to Bottlecap Bay. It's great to meet up again here though, how you're holding up?" Dolly goes to situate herself properly for socializing.

Oh..OH...the elephant in the room has been brought up by Emporio..."I'm so sorry about that, I'm having a hard time seeing without glasses."

It's them! Big gold and purple blob, with brown and green blob! Emporio quickly recognizes her, and looks between the Sylveon and Anasui. "She almost got lost?" he repeats, looking back to Dolly. "It's good to see that didn't happen then. I'm surprised to hear you need glasses though, I didn't think any Pokemon really did..."

Which. Might cause a problem when it comes to getting them back. "...do Pokemon even have proper optomitrists...I know we have the clinic but..."

It's like the classic nostalgic show, the Adventures of Blob and Blob! Big Blob and Little Blob, truly a nostalgic trip for Dolly. "Yeah, I wasn't sure who I'd have to go to just yet at the clinic for glasses." Dolly tilts her head to the side as she thinks for a bit. "But I'm glad too, Bottlecap Bay has been really lovely so far."

Hmm..time to think of a creative solution for the glasses situation, "Do you think one of the others might have been an optometrist before becoming a Pokemon?"

"I've seen scarves and heard of glasses that provide stat buffs, so I suppose there would be someone that specialises in eyewear. Even if we don't have an optometrist in the bay, there will be one out there in the world." Which, doesn't help Dolly right now whatsoever.

"Hm... I'm not sure if the clinic can help you. They mostly deal with medical emergencies... But if someone there could... do you have any idea what sort of glasses they wear?"

"I'm still not entirely sure I understand how stats work..." Emporio can't help but mutter, but he quickly refocuses.

"I think we have another doctor but...not really?" He looks at Anasui. "...And you were going into surgery as a specialty right?"

He's not sure mentioning that he 'read a few books' is the right thing to say just yet.

They mysterious world of Pokemon eye sight only deepens from there as Dolly quietly hopes it won't lead to surgery. How would surgery work in the Pokemon world...YEP NOT THINKING ABOUT THAT ONE.

Wait...they're a maybe doctor here? Okay that's promising to ask about. "That's so cool, you were in class to be a doctor?"

Definitely not going to address the elephant in the room of the maybe(?) doctor...that's already a pretty uneasy thought there.

Anasui glares at Emporio and gives him a small nudge with his foot. He was trying to be subtle, kid. Honestly. But then he'll give a big, exaggerated nod for Dolly's sake.

"I was in med school, yeah. I know every part of the human body pretty well." Those statements are not related but Dolly doesn't need to know about that. "And I may not have studied optometry but I know about eyes pretty well. You probably won't need surgery for that. Just glasses."

"... Nearsighted or farsighted or both?"

"Oh I'm nearsighted, its been a bit of struggle so far since arriving, more so than normal."

Dolly is wide eyed in wonder of the head nod which is pretty adorable thanks to the Sylveon eyes. This was pretty fascinating to learn though still! So long as there aren't any PokeSurgeries happening..tell Dolly there isn't any PokeSurgeries going on..

"I- I was just trying to emphasize that you weren't an optometrist..." he protests in vain, sighing as the conversation carries on. Alright, well, at least some help is happening even though that...wasn't quite his intent??

Sure.

"...Nearsighted shouldn't be too hard to fix at least, right? ...though it'd be easier if we were the ones making the glass..."

There are no PokeSurgeries happening in the Clinic, Dolly :)

"Mmm... It shouldn't be," Anasui responds to Emporio. "We can work around it. Glassmaking isn't my forte anyway."

Anasui looks back at Dolly. "Myopia is caused when the light focuses on the front of your retina than on it. If I had my way, I'd reshape your eye to make your eyes more spherical, or at least curve your cornea." He says, as if that's not a concerning sentence. "However, since I can't, we'll work on glasses. We will need glass that's thinner in the center and thicker at the edges so they diverge light rays to your eyes properly. Hm... Do we have a bottle anywhere? We should test how bad your eyes are."

Oh that was a relief for Dolly that PokeSugeries weren't happening in the clinic after hearing that Anasui couldn't perform such a surgery like that on her eyes. At least they're all opting for the glasses route instead! Dolly's eyes are spared...for now.

Though, now was a time to put on that little invisible thinking cap for a moment for Dolly. After some considerations, Dolly goes to offer some possible location ideas.

"That's a good question...if there's a dining hall or cafeteria here, maybe there'll be some glass bottles? Another option could be one of the shops in town if they have an empty bottle for sale."

Emporio doesn't hide the wince that follows Anasui's idea on what an easier method of sight correction would be- you can't just say those things dude- but...

Dolly doesn't actually seem to react to that, so maybe she? Didn't see anything weird about it? He's noting that down. He's remembering that, for later.

The boy shakes his head immediately though. "Using glass from bottles might work to test what kind of shape will help most, but we can't just make glasses from bottles, that's not how optics work. What we'll have to do is figure out the precise curve necessary in the glass and then find a glassmaker here to work with it.

[But he's not an optometrist guys.]

He couldn't do surgery like that yet. Not for a lack of him or Akira trying. It was on the ever-growing to-do-list.

But Anasui doesn't even notice that Dolly doesn't see his speech as abnormal, though that's more a reflection of him than anything else...

"Mmm... Emporio is right. But considering how glasses aren't widespread here, we'll need to tell them the precise measurements to best help you. Bottles won't be a long-term solution, just a metric for gauging what we need to tell the glassmakers."

Anasui turns heel and starts to walk off to get the bottles without saying anything else. Because he does that sometimes.

The ever concerning potential of PokeSurgeries grows to a very unaware Dolly, she's just grateful to be getting glasses in a pretty fun teamwork way.

It wasn't too abnormal, it should've been, but it wasn't to Dolly. No, she's experienced worse...so much worse beforehand thanks to the Tir Na Nog Queens.

This wasn't a big deal at all as Dolly continues to listen to both Emporio and Anasui on how to go about on a makeshift gauging system for figuring her eyesight.

"That's a good idea, I wonder if there's someone here with some fire abilities like back at Skull Town? Maybe someone could warp the glass bottles for us to be used for testing?"

It's fine. Don't worry about it. Glasses will be happening! And that's just great.

"Oh...well, we do have a lot of Fire type Pokemon here...one of the others would probably have enough precision, right?"

Yep totally fine! Nothing to fear here! Glasses are going to be made and that's the important part!

"That sounds like a good point, maybe one of them has the precision for shaping the lenses. I wonder if one of them is hot enough to melt sand into glass if all else fails?"

"They already can make bottles and the like. They have some way of sourcing glass - and if they can do something as intricate as a bottle, they'll be able to make a lens." Floating next to Anasui is a few glass bottles he's sourced from the kitchen. He stacks them in front of both of Emporio and Dolly for the two to pick between.

"Which one do you think we should use first?"

A good point, that. But for now, here they are with the bottles. Emporio's not going to ask why Anasui knows where the kitchen is here.

"Hmm..." He inspects the first, squinting at it. "This one has a curve inward- I'd say that'll be a good start."

Dolly considers things carefully before hearing Emporio's reasoning. He had an incredibly good point about the curvature on the bottle, it would work...Dolly is throughly impressed by Emporio.

"That's a good idea too, I'd say let's do the one that has the curve inwards."

It's not even a bad reason why he knows. It's the Archives. Anasui has combed through every inch of this place looking for some rhyme or reason to why the tablets here are organised the way they are. He may have not found any sensible explanation but he did find the kitchen and remembered where it was.

In any case, Anasui knows what they should do first. With the prompting, he uses his psychic powers to pick up a curved bottle that's more stout than long and holds it in front of Dolly.

"Emporio, hold up a slate. Dolly, see if you can read any line from this distance. You should be at least able to see the title."

"Got it!" he cheers, grabbing one immediately to prop it upright. It should be simple enough, and the letters are all nicely carved in...

"Ready when you are."

Dolly was pretty thrilled for a chance to be able to see things again as she goes to take a peak through the bottle-lens as instructed. The letters were clear to read, but there was something just a bit off. Confused, Dolly had to do a bit of a double take to make sure it wasn't her being unused to glasses after arrival, but...

Everything with the bottle lenses on looked like an impressionist's painting in motion, an Enya music video if one were to describe it. This explains so much about why Dolly's vision had been so bad upon arrival.

"Awesome, I can read the lines with this."

Anasui, who pointedly does not wear glasses and cannot see through Dolly's eyes, nods. Assuming the reaction is normal, he puts the first bottle down. Then then he uses his psychic powers to pick up a thicker bottle.

"Try this one? Better or worse?" He asks, judging purely off what Dolly says. "Which one makes you squint less?"
