Parties are not, generally, Odile's strong suit. She hadn't really planned to attend at all. But the noise has made even her own room an insufficient sanctuary, and so she's deigned to tuck herself away in Dolly's room instead. A bit quieter, easy enough to tuck herself into a corner and sample one of these "pierogi". Dolly is someone she already knows and rather enjoys anyway, so why not?

Anyway, the game building might be interesting. The Weavile has certainly not donned her own costume, but she does come over to peer at the makeshift board. "And this is...a game from your home?"

Surprisingly Dolly's room was really calm despite everything going on outside as she goes to greet Odile. Dolly was pretty glad to see Odile, especially after the rather less than stellar run in with the Pumpkaboo and Gourgeists. Upside, this was a nicer gathering for a game testing along with pierogis, those are the best comfort food in the world. Downside, no London Fog tea lattes to enjoy them with.

"It was, we had many other games back where I came from like Connect Four or Potions and Poisons. I figured Clue would be a fun for the season, nothing like a good ol' fashioned murder mystery for Halloween."

"And the same for the food?" Sorry, Dolly, Odile is still focused on matters of cultural exchange. Such things have always been interesting to her, even before she finally took that trip to Vaugarde. Pretty much everywhere she's ever been had a variation on this type of food - dumplings are truly universal.

No offense taken on Dolly's end, she was on a similar boat with Doriene some months back during its own major holiday. Dolly's still puzzling over the concept of gingerbread lasagna, such a weird thing it was for sure along with the Woozel Worm and the Goose on the Roof.

"For the cold weather, definitely. Pierogis are more or less a comfort dumpling for cold weather to enjoy. Sometimes there's bacon inside of the potato stuffing mixture that's really fun to bite into."

"More like Vaugardian cuisine than Ka Buan..." Odile muses to herself. It's not the same, of course. These feel as though they should come from farther north, maybe someplace like...

...

Anyway, she finishes her pierogi and leans forward to actually peruse the game board. Is there any sort of rulebook yet...? "We have several similar dishes, but they're usually filled with pork and vegetables."

Vaugardian? Ka Buan? Oh, those might be names of places from where Odile is from. That definitely has Dolly's attention though, she was curious about it. Dolly smiles as she shares information. "It was one of my favorites back in the midwestern states. They originally were from Poland that got pretty popular over time. It's honestly been a long time since I last had something like it."

That was a pause, wonder what for? Was it too abrupt?

Oh wait, the focus is back on the game board as Dolly relaxes a bit that it wasn't something she had said. Good news for Odile, there is in fact a rulebook for the game thank goodness! "That sounds incredibly good, like we had a pretty huge variety too from where I was at before the big 'move' happened, one of them had soup inside. I honestly missed dumplings, they're a really good dish."

She nods along, even as she hooks the rulebook with a claw and pulls it over for closer inspection. "Soup sounds interesting...ah, it's a logic game." Keeping track of things, and outmanuevering others to gain information faster. Odile thinks she might be fairly good at this.

"It is, like you have to snip the dumpling first to let the broth cool down a bit before eating." Dolly's attention returns to the real star of the moment, the recreated game of Clue. "It is, deduction and logic plays a huge role in Clue in solving the fictional murder and which character has done it. It's fun as the suspects changes from game to game, so its something new each time."

"Are we waiting for more players, then?"

She's certainly interested! Board games aren't a particular interest of hers; most of Odile's hobbies are a little more solo. But this one seems just about her speed!

"Pretty much, though not sure on who's playing the Miss Scarlet character yet. There were five folks here earlier that was wanting to play Miss Scarlet, but all of them left for the outside. Not sure what's going on there with them."

Alas, Dolly has no clue about the Miss Scarlet induced Pokemon battle going on outside of the room...nerd violence over a fictional murder suspect.

"Oh, are we competing for specific characters?" Odile seems a little dry about the concept - she does not care - but also rather amused by it.

"Ah if we are, I should've placed bets on the characters like one does with racing horses." Dolly joked a bit in good nature, it was pretty funny with how much the character names did line up with racing horse names.

Odile chuckles. "One drink on...Professor Plum." Several of them have very strange names, don't they? But plum is just a fruit, and Mirabelle's favorite besides.

"Good choice, I'd place a drink on Mrs. White." Dolly chuckles along, the characters really did have oddball names. At least it wasn't something too unfortunate like Creature Cheeseman, that would've earned a lot of stares. Dolly was really glad humanity grew out of that weird child name phases...maybe.

"Speaking of drinks, I wonder if they have mulled wine or mead for the colder weather?"

White...it's a common enough surname in some countries, but Odile does wonder about the etymology of it. Most common names like that reference something in particular. Oh, well.

"I could do with some mulled wine. They do that in Vaugarde - I've been traveling there for the past while."

There comes the mention of Vaugarde, it has Dolly's attention big time. Though, Dolly hasn't picked up the confusion about the color themed names of the characters just yet.

"I'm definitely joining you for the mulled wine then, I think it'd pair well with the pierogis. What was Vaugarde like? It sounds like a nice place to travel in."

"They're very welcoming. Almost strangely so. Vaugardians are easily both the nicest and the most ridiculously unsuspecting people I've ever met."

It's dry, but sort of fond all the same. Though of course, there's little time to dwell much on that. "But I didn't have the most conventional experience. I showed up just shortly before the King tried to freeze the entire country in time. It put a bit of a damper on things."

"Goodness, Vaugarde sounds incredibly lovely though. I'm definitely interested in learning about Vaugardian culture, it sounds like a lot of fun to learn. "

...Freezing a whole country in time? Well that was a new concept right there! Well, at least the King didn't try to DIY a phantom island with radioactive materials. Dolly remembered that one all too well, especially after getting sucked through a rift thanks to it.

"Same, when I arrived in Estrella Del Rio some months back, I ended up landing around a time of a disaster too. I'm not sure what became of the city south of Estrella or what even happened there, all I know is that its uninhabitable now."

Odile grimaces sympathetically. "That - something like that happened in my world once. Some other country." Which one was it, again? When was that? She can't really remember - it must have been far away, long ago.

"Vaugarde was a close call, too. Nearly all of it was frozen by the time we got to the King."

Dolly grimaces along, not for the mentioned town in Doriene, but else where too recently, "I'm so sorry, it's absolutely horrifying to have happen." It's best not to talk about it, the memory is too fresh...let's focus on Vaugarde, yes?

"I'm glad that Vaugarde pulled through something unprecedented like time freezing. You had to go up against the King?"

"Yes. He's frozen in time now."

Brief, but Odile has no real desire to recount the battle. In the end, even after everything, that day had barely been about the King at all. "Right in the middle of the House of Change. They're religious establishments found primarily in Vaugarde - you can see why he went there." As far as Odile is concerned, it must have been spite. The King never seemed angry or spiteful; she thinks he must have been a fine actor.

She leans back in her chair, remarking dryly, "I hear they've been dressing him up."

Frozen in time you say? Dolly was amused by that one, that's some pretty good irony right there.

"I'm glad the House of Change is making good use of their new statue though, hope they're dressing him in clashing fabric textures." Dolly smiles, her humor best served dry as beef jerky for this occasion.

That is weirdly the worst thing Dolly could ever wish upon another person. However, Dolly was sort've surprising the deity wasn't involved though. Maybe they're a bit more chilled than the ones back on Earth?

"I'll have to check sometime." Odile hasn't been back up there since the King's defeat. She's had far more important things to worry about. "Siffrin has been...unwell, since then, so we've been focused on them. Though they seem better now..."

Physically, anyway. Odile really doubts they - either of them - are as well as they want to appear. She's just uncharacteristically hesitant to dig.

Siffrin? Well there were two Siffrins, Dusty Siffrin and Sparkly Siffrin. Dolly wasn't entirely sure which one came from Vaugarde, but it was nice to know Odile wasn't alone in a new world. Though Dolly wouldn't blame Odile for not wanting to dig, she was in a similar spot with Lupe and Fernando, especially the latter...he is a morbid mystery of sorts.

"I hadn't realized you and one of the Siffrins were from the same place." Maybe Dolly will find out which one came from Vaugarde like Odile?

"....both of them, but that's complicated."

Odile's not inclined to speak on Siffrin's situation (well, any of Siffrin's several situations) with anyone here. Anyone outside of their party, really. It feels private, like a...rather like a family matter.
