There's a bit of a popcorn bounce from Dolly as she goes to show Anasui the testing set up. From the look of things, Dolly has it pretty well organized from the player figurine pieces to the horrifyingly functionally lethal mini murder weapons close by to Mr. Boddy.
"So what we're doing is to see if the game has the entertainment value that'll be fun to revisit during the winter months ahead and if there's anything that'll be needing adjusting." Dolly looks at her Mr. Boddy doll for a moment in consideration.
"My money is on encasing Mr. Boddy's boney frame in a ballistics gel of some kind."
no subject
"Hmm..." Anasui pauses as he also looks at the Mr. Boddy doll. A normal person may think that ballistics gel is overkill in protecting a game piece. Anasui is not a normal person. "The problem with ballistics gel is that it has a relatively short shelf life. It may be more practical to make more than one Mr. Boddy than preserving this one. Or using rubber."
no subject
Hmmm...Anasui did make an excellent point about the ballistics gel, that'll make a bit of a stink with the short shelf life. Upside was that Dolly did keep the molds she used when making the Mr. Boddy skeleton doll, so making multiples would be easy. "I wonder, do you think there's a para rubber tree here that we can get the sap to make the rubber body with? Its something I can fix up a mold with to cast the bones in."
no subject
"I'm sure there is... We'll have to ask around or check the Archives to see where we can find it. But even if there isn't, we definitely have wax. That should be a reasonable substitute, right?"
no subject
"Wax would be a great substitute if there's no Para Rubber Trees here. It's been a while since I last used wax in a doll crafting project, but I should be able to work well with it. Plus, it gives a really nice realistic look when done right for the hide."
no subject
Anasui grunts quietly. "I rarely work with wax. Not interesting enough to dismantle... So I'll take your word for it."
no subject
"It wouldn't be much fun to dismantle to be fair, the armature is normally too straight forward to learn anything. I did want to take apart a backflipping wind up toy though to see how it works for a project I wanted to do before this happened."
no subject
"You like disassembling things too?" He asks tentatively, as if he hadn't heard the Sylveon correctly.
no subject
"I do, especially with antique wind up toys or automatons. There's not a lot of books on how to make, repair, or build one. So I often go for the disassembling route to get an idea on how the pieces work or what can be modified with either repairs or even making one." Dolly smiles a bit as she explains, she loves getting to do projects like it, they're normally a fun challenge to tackle.
"I think my favorite process after a doing a lead test is getting to sand blast the old enamel or rust off. It's pretty fun to watch in real time."
no subject
"Mmm... Usually, when I disassemble something, I put it back in a different way. Sometimes, it's to serve a new purpose, other times it's just for my amusement. I don't always modify things though... It's satisfying to just break it down to its core components."
"I'm not sure if I have a favourite myself, honestly. But it's been a while since I did... well... any of that."
no subject
"That's really awesome though, like I haven't tried making it function in a different or new purpose yet." The gears in Dolly's head is very much turning and giving her some ideas for something try out later.
"Perhaps a bit later, would you like to scavenge with me to find an object to repurpose? It sounds insanely fun to try out."
no subject
"Sure. Even with quests and all that's going on, it's peaceful enough. I've got nothing pressing on if you don't." The trip may involve Dolly needing to stop Anasui from scavenging things he shouldn't or Anasui enabling Dolly to do more scavenging BUT it does sound fun.
no subject
"I don't either, I'm fully on board with scavenging with you some time for the project to try out. It's going to be so much fun to do." Dolly has no idea what form of Pandora's box she's opened, smiling innocently and thrilled to scavenge around with her friend Anasui.
no subject
"I'd be happy to do that now, but there are perogis to eat and board games to play," Anasui said, looking at the board again. "Just hit my pearl whenever you feel like going out scavenging. I don't really have a preference when we go since I will just fill any extra time with reading or working in the clinic. So any time is good."
Anasui is pretty excited, not going to lie. He's never had anyone who shared his special interest before... It's... Well, he won't admit it but it's not bad.

It was pretty exciting to Dolly, it's not often she meets someone else that doesn't get weirded out by her own hobbies. She blames the haunted toy horror genre for it, a real shame for sure. No it's so totally not the fact that the doll crafting hobby can sound like something out of a true crimes broadcast, don't be silly!
"Same, I'm mostly doing research at the Archives, though I do want to ask and see if they have a printing press for field research usage."
