[ parvati's been doing her best to dodge dumping any snow on siffrin at all, in the meantime. or, at least, not enough to bury them at any rate. she won't squish him! ...hopefully. ]

I dunno, a grouch maybe. [ almost done now... yep. that'll do. she hops back down next to him with an unceremonious thud! ]

How about it?

[That thud! might be the moment that Siffrin realizes they wouldn't have been able catch her and her hammer even if they tried... but if so, they don't let themself react to it!]

[They tap the door once to warn that the two of them are coming in, then hook it open with one paw. They head in first, but end up pausing as they see what's inside.]

[Dewott is sitting at a table - really more just a stone slab - with a Quilava, who is steadily heating up a tea kettle with short bursts of Ember. But all around the building - one large room, with some beds at one end - are more stone slabs, covered in little carved and gnawed wooden mechanisms. Some of them are ticking.]

[After a second Siffrin continues onward, shouldering the door so it stays open for Parvati.]

[ parvati glances around once she's walked in behind them, taking it in. huh. guess the pokemon who weren't people before didn't need much, but it still felt a little weird to see such a simple house now. kind of like home, in a weird way. ]

Hopefully I got all the snow, sorry if I missed any. You building stuff in here? [ of course she'd notice, someone like her obviously would. ]

[Quilava glances up, her ears quivering.] Yes, that's - oh! You're the one who was working on the pump in the Spire, weren't you?

[The... oh, that's right. Siffrin very vaguely remembers seeing something on the questboard about that...]

H-huh? Oh. Yeah. That's me. [ she rubs the back of her head bashfully. ] Wasn't just me though. Whole team effort. Couldn't've done it alone.

[ she hadn't thought it'd be such a big deal? to the folks who weren't in the guild, anyway. she glances awkwardly to siffrin. ]

[Quilava waves a paw at this, her expression still excited. Maybe it was a team effort, but Parvati was the one who got it started!] You'll have to explain to me how it works! How's it getting powered? I asked Venusaur - [a friend from the guild, probably?] - but he had no idea!

[Siffrin... winks at Parvati and settles back. Thanks for nothing to them!!]

[ siffrin! don't leave her here! siffrin! siffrin!!!! ]

Oh, yeah. I'd be happy to explain how it all works, lemme come over.

[ she casts a wary glance at siffrin, mouthing "thanks", before walking over to the quilava and beginning to go into the intricacies. as it turns out, she also named the pump system "sophie". ]

[Siffrin just winks, very helpfully!!!]

[Still, Quilava is attentive and enthusiastic! She seems to be the source of all the little ticking automatons and models scattered around the inside of this building, but none of them are quite as practical or useful as "Sophie" - all other things aside, her materials have been nearly entirely limited to wood and Pokemon products. She's been able to get some carefully hoarded metal springs, but beyond that everything she winds up or puts under tension has to happen with Pokemon hair or leather. And being a Fire type, she's never known what to do with water... but she is happy to talk about what she has tried, if Parvati seems interested! Her recent project is a crossbow for launching Cacnea spikes and Corsola twigs, and -]

[(Dewott pulls over the heated teapot and starts pouring some of those hot drinks... he seems resigned to this taking as long as it's going to take.)]

[Eventually, Quilava moves on to asking:] So what's your next project?

[The thought of Parvati maybe not having a next project yet doesn't seem to even occur to her...]

[Meanwhile, in the background, Siffrin has found a device that they're sitting in front of. Judging by how they're very carefully rotating something with one claw, it's either manual or it's something that's wound down. But it's hard to tell what they're finding so interesting without actually walking up behind them and looking over their shoulder.]
