Umemiya Hajime - Wind Breaker - Lucario - OTA
atoneapologizemake up for it, he's volunteering in the clinic, for everything from food runs to keeping injured Pokemon company to using Life Dew to help ease the pain.Does it fix everything? Nope. But he has to do something, right?

"Ume," she says, trying the feeling of the nickname. "Dr. Dino said you can take a break when you're ready."
Whether or not he accepts that break though remains to be seen.

"How are you holding up?"
It's not purely deflection, at least. Genuine check-in with one of his favorite people.

And she understands-- she really does, even though she did go on the quest. "I'm doing okay, actually. The Pokemon we were after used a big Heal Pulse on us all, and I was with a good team." Actually, she feels guilty that she isn't hurt worse. Maybe he can tell.

"I think that's the goal, isn't it? To still be in good shape after a quest. Like, not that we hold it against anyone who does get hurt, but you did a good job, coming back intact."

Riiiiight?
"There's a cafe nearby that does pretty good sandwiches."

She begins to lead the way before realizing she doesn't know where it is. She looks back to him sheepishly, though she's still wagging her tail.

III is helping out around the clinic as a means of making up for that (he doesn't have any healing moves just yet, but he can keep company) when he runs into Hajime.]
Need a hand with anything? [He won't make Hajime slow down or stop, but does want to help. Anything to make up for not being there to help fight.]

[Umemiya's ears perk up.]
There's a kettle I've put on for tea, but I haven't been able to stop and pour cups for those who want it. Can you make sure it gets to folks? It's made with dried Aspear berries, so those who got frozen or who are cold will benefit most. But it's also good tea in general!

It's something familiar, he thinks as he pours cups. It's not unlike preparing tea for his family, a gesture meant to try to bring peace to his bickering older brothers and unstable father.
Of course, thinking about his absent family only causes homesickness, so III does his best to dispel that train of thought and focus on the Pokémon in need. If nothing else, he's attentive, using his psychic abilities to carry more tea while making sure to confirm who wanted some.
He'll even offer an extra cup to Umemiya, just in case he wants some.]

Thank you. This helps a lot.

[Notably, III does not take any tea for himself. A little hypocritical there.]

You don't get to say that unless you're making sure you're good to keep going, too.
