Umemiya Hajime - Wind Breaker - Lucario - OTA

Guess who's feeling REALLY GUILTY about not having gone on a Mega Raid this month? To atone apologize make up for it, he's volunteering in the clinic, for everything from food runs to keeping injured Pokemon company to using Life Dew to help ease the pain.

Does it fix everything? Nope. But he has to do something, right?

At the very least, Noelle is grateful that one of her friends isn't injured. She took some mandatory rest and got a check-up, but she's actually doing okay after the quest-- far better than some people (namely, Kris, who she's been fussing over/yelling at). Thus, to help the clinic deal with the influx of injured Pokemon, she's been volunteering with her Heal Pulse move and otherwise assisting where she can.

"Ume," she says, trying the feeling of the nickname. "Dr. Dino said you can take a break when you're ready."

Whether or not he accepts that break though remains to be seen.

"When I'm ready." If he becomes ready. What does ready even look like?

"How are you holding up?"

It's not purely deflection, at least. Genuine check-in with one of his favorite people.

[Guess who also didn't go on a raid this month and is also feeling guilty? It's this little guy!

III is helping out around the clinic as a means of making up for that (he doesn't have any healing moves just yet, but he can keep company) when he runs into Hajime.]

Need a hand with anything? [He won't make Hajime slow down or stop, but does want to help. Anything to make up for not being there to help fight.]

[Umemiya's ears perk up.]

There's a kettle I've put on for tea, but I haven't been able to stop and pour cups for those who want it. Can you make sure it gets to folks? It's made with dried Aspear berries, so those who got frozen or who are cold will benefit most. But it's also good tea in general!

While Anasui got off relatively unharmed during the Mega Raids, Emporio didn't so Anasui is in the clinic more often. He's not doing more outside of his normal volunteer hours but he does visit and sees what's going around. Or rather, who's going around.

The first time he sees Umemiya, Anasui simply nods his head and moved on. The seventh time he saw him running around, he frowned but said nothing. Now? Well, Anasui was genuinely unsure if Umemiya went back to the guild or he just slept here.

So the next time Anasui sees Umemiya moving about the clinic without something in his hand, Anasui will immediately try to trip the Lucario to force him to stop. Impromptu reflex test, go!

Umemiya absolutely gets tripped, but he catches himself pretty quickly, turning to give Anasui a look of betrayal.

"What did I do to deserve that?"

Cedric got a little singed by Siffrin's electricity during their fight, so he was ushered in the clinic along with everyone else. While he quietly appreciates the care, he feels guilty getting attention when his teammate took a far worse blow than him and will likely be here for longer.

When he spots the Lucario helping out, he's about to say something but stops himself - he mistook another Lucario for Umemiya last time, he doesn't want to do that again. So instead, once they approach him, he just gently insists,

"Don't use that healing spell on me; others need it much more than I do."

"Don't be a martyr. If you're hurt less, that means I can get you much closer to fighting trim than the Pokemon who need personal care from Dr. Denne and Nurse Chansey."

At least this is the right Lucario, the chipper teenaged one.

Kris Dreemurr | Deltarune | Deino | OTA!

Kris is unconscious when they're rushed into the clinic. The severe poisoning has to be treated first, along with a myriad of cuts and scrapes that are no doubt at risk of infection. The Deino is battered and barely clinging to life, much like the rest of their party, and for awhile the question is whether they'll wake up at all.

But eventually, their condition stabilizes. It's still hours before they wake up long enough to ask what happened, and they quickly pass out again once they've confirmed no one else is dead. They do seem to rest a little easier after that, at least—and they really, really need the rest.

... but isn't it still a little too soon to be sleeping? At some point the nurse assigned to Kris makes the mistake of assuming the little Deino is just going to snooze for the rest of the day and clearly doesn't need the constant supervision. In that moment of weakness, it strikes.

Kris drags themself out of bed and starts making the rounds. Gotta check every standing object in the room. Gotta check on whoever is rooming with them. Gotta check several signs they literally cannot read. They look tired and unstable on their feet, wincing whenever they move their leg in a certain way, but boy are they determined...

If you're resting in the clinic yourself, the question of the day is "How are you doing?" Hopefully better than them! They look miserable.

After reopening all their wounds and stabilizing a second time, Kris is assigned a very stern Gothorita to stand in the corner and give them Mean Looks if they so much as think about walking around again. So. Not doing that again, thankfully.

Despite the restlessness from earlier, they do seem content to just sleep like a corpse all day. No matter what time of day you check up on them, they're always conked out like they're in a deep sleep... unless you happen to be carrying food, or are someone they know and actually want to talk to, in which case Kris will instantly "wake up" and sit politely like they've been awake and waiting this whole time for someone to show up. Please talk to them, they are so bored actually.

Extremely alarming: waking up to have a Deino right in your face, staring at you. Or not staring at you. Snuffling at you? Patiently clicking through your entire (lack of) dialogue even though the fast-forward button is right there? Doing something at you, at any rate.

"...!!"

Out of reflex, Siffrin tries to smack Unknown Creature Hovering Above with one paw.

But also everything still hurts and moving fast especially hurts. So what actually ends up happening is they do that cat thing where they put their paw on you and just hold it there at full extension.

They freeze in place. There is now a paw planted on their face, gently dissuading them from the draconic urge to nip at their fellow patients.

Kris stands like this awkwardly for several more seconds before it decides what topic they need to start with for today.

[III is not a patient here, he's just helping out. Still, it's pretty startling to have a Deino suddenly come up and stare (?) at him, especially when said Deino seems to still be injured.]

".....I'm fine," Odile replies slowly. She's not here for herself; she failed to keep Siffrin from going off on one of those quests, so she's here to visit them. And, admittedly, she had also heard that Kris was here too. Poor kid. They're not Bonnie's age, so she's not sure anyone really has the right to stop them from going on quests...but they do still seem very young to her.

They also look pretty bad! The Weavile narrows her eyes. She's not one to beat around the bush, especially not after what happened. "What are you doing up?"

Why does it feel like I always meet you here?

[That's not exactly true, considering they did make soap together, but if Anasui had a nickel for every time that he met Kris in the clinic after a critical battle, he'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot but weird it happened twice.

Being a regular volunteer, Anasui is once again doing the rounds and helping feed the assorted patients here, so he does indeed have some nice, hot food floating on a glowing blue tray in front of him. The Espathra breaks his concentration so that the tray gets placed on next to Kris' bedside. Anasui nods at the Gothorita before he addresses Kris again.]

You feeling okay? Did you take your medicine?

It was another escape attempt on Catrina's part trying to get away from the dreadfully hideous creatures known as Chansey when Catrina took up hiding out with Kris in their room at the Clinic...Yep gonna drag Kris along for the Clinic break out it looks like..

"Shit, Kris, what those wretched awful egg weirdoes do to yah!?"

A. Bippitie Boppitie...DON'T YOU RUN AWAY! (Volunteering)

Congrats Dolly, you didn't need Survive to basically survive that ordeal and look what happened to your teammates! Why does this happen? The cave lied about Dolly getting wounded, very rude right there cave!

What better way to chase off that good ol' fashion survivor's guilt than to drown herself in volunteering at the clinic using Wish Bippitie Boppitie Boop? Maybe you're one of the patients here that Dolly has been assigned to for healing? Either that or you're a friend of Dolly that's grown concerned about how much she's been at the Clinic?

B. Ah Yes...Delicious Treats..Hand them over! (Visiting)

Either Dolly got told to take a break or she finally is cooling down from the bing volunteering, there's a basket of baked goods. One half of them is homemade chocolate chip cookies while the other half is PokePuffs she picked up. Deep breath in...Deep breath out...Dolly's got this, she definitely does.

You could be a friend of Dolly's that got hurt during the Mega Evolution Quest that she's visiting or perhaps one of the teammates she was with? There is that, or you could be the world's biggest stinker of them all to snatch the basket of goodies and run off with them!

[Robin has been self-conscious about the optics of being a coffin in a hospital, probably not the best reminder to her fellow patients, but she doesn't know how to heal from spectral assault on her own. Most of her body is wrapped in Spell Tag-like bandages, but from the edges of the sarcophagus lid between them, wisps of ghostly energy are rising like smoke. Robin tries to give her least terrifying smile as the adorable pink creature approaches.]

Good morning. [Is it morning? Robin just woke up from a nap not too long ago, at least.]

A. KARMA USED WATER GUN! IT WAS SUPER EFFECTIVE!

Boy, karma really did come after Catrina shortly after making things HELL for the team she was in during the Froslass Quest and pretty much coming out relatively unharmed unlike poor Robin. Upside, Anasui got the last laugh after the Tough Luv quest when the Luvdisc attacked!

Catrina learned super duper quickly that water moves are super effective against her fire typing and soon finds her waxy buns in the Clinic. You may find her sulking in the clinic, wanting to get away from the dread creatures known as Chansey. Other times...she might break into another patient's room and be a general nuisance...this is a very easily bored candle!

B. I WANT TO BREAK FREEEEE~ I WANT TO BREAK FREE~!

SUCCESS! SUCCESS FOR A CATRINA! She felt well enough to use Minimize and slip away from the Nurse Chanseys as she scurries away as quickly a now tea light sized candle can do! The dreadfully dead fish eyed pink nightmare shows are scrambling trying to locate Catrina and get her nasty little waxy buns back in bed to recover!

She could be anywhere really! Catrina could be hitching a ride on someone leaving the Clinic or maybe she could be climbing out the window at the size of a mouse on fire....

C. FIRE AWAY! (wildcard)

Anasui would be lying to say if he didn't get a kick of seeing Catrina injured after their quest against the Luvdisc. However, he is trying to make an active effort to not be an asshole, so he does accept the request from a very frazzled Chansey to deliver food to Catrina despite his feelings about her.

"I'm coming in," Anasui says without knocking. He walks over to the sulking candle and dumps the food in front of her, not caring if any spilled.

"Eat."

Wonderful bedside manner, Anasui...

His injuries minor compared to others, Cedric was released pretty early from the clinic the following day. So imagine his surprise when he suddenly feels something land in his plumage without his permission.

He instinctively flaps to knock it off, but he notices two things. 1) That doesn't seem to work, and 2) Whatever it is, it's moving. So he moves on to the natural next step: caw and flail as if he's performing Astonish on himself. Which mostly means hopping and flapping in a circle. Cedric has never been the most dignified creature.

Emporio Alniño - JJBA: Stone Ocean - Cubone - OTA

[Emporio isn't someone people expect to be carried into the clinic. If anything they don't expect him to be pulled there by any means other than his own volition- he volunteers there. Helps to tend to the injured, the ill.

He doesn't get injured himself, not like this.

He's certainly been in and out over snow-rash; a rather unfortunate response between his Ground typing and the water. But this is something else. Ground types resist poison. They're strong against rock. He had the greatest possible advantage, it turns out, against the foe that his team had been pursuing.

The trouble being, they were the only team to do so.

The greater trouble being that they were vastly outmatched. Were it not for the care of their quarry itself, the Glimmora who came to their senses and called for rescue, they could have easily died out there.

As it stands, Emporio has been asleep- not comatose, this isn't the same as those other Pokemon- for a good long while.

...and now... ...now...he might be waking up...]

[OTA - BEING IN THE HOSPITAL SUCKS]

[There's a noted difference between Emporio and his fellows in the clinic.

That difference seems to be that he understands the importance of actually listening to the doctor, and stays in freaking bed. He's all swaddled up in his bed, helmet on the side, and various things like berry juices or herbal seed mixes set at the side.

Still, even if he's a good little cubone who doesn't wanna break the rules, he...is pretty bored.]

[To Cedric's credit, he's not going to say no to attention after that battle, even if he was merely fizzled a little bit. He's even kept quiet while the staff treats him, leaving the vocalizations for those who are really hurt - which means he easily picks up Emporio's words.

He frowns. It'd be nice if children could stop being put in danger everywhere he goes.

Best not to talk about that, he suspects. So he simply addresses the strange item the Cubone referenced.] Please tell me it's not called that because the computer is possessed.

[Kaiba isn't the kind of guy to volunteer community service hours to a clinic. He's the kind of guy to busy himself working in a personal laboratory to further improve a piece of technology that suits his purpose.

That said, there was clearly a great deal of trouble with the last few quests put out by the guild leaders, enough to pique his curiosity on the matter of who was hurt.

Seto Kaiba doesn't have friends. He has sycophants, nuisances, or employees. At best, he has acquaintances.

And yet somehow, when he noticed that a familiar Cubone was on the list of patients, it gave him pause. He knows that kid. That kid left him a gift, little that he deserved it, or cared about the entire gifting situation past what he was obligated to participate in by S.I.N.T.O'S unclear instructions.

So, despite not having friends, and having hurt Emporio before, he pays frequent visits. It's not as if it gets in his way--he'll often bring a book, or busy himself with writing in a journal he carries around frequently, anyone's guess what he writes, but that's not important. Don't worry about it.

As it so happens, the day that Emporio comes around, Kaiba's seated nearby, thumbing through a reference book with one leg crossed over the other. He's dressed in an outfit that definitely seems anachronous to his surroundings, but that's fine. Even as a Hakamo-o, Kaiba feels extremely anachronous to his surroundings anyway.

His eyes leave the book for a moment--did the kid just shift? Is he...waking up?]

[ Kids are their damn technology. They need to learn how to be bored and like it. Except Bigby remembers something about this. He turns a bit awkwardly, little paw in a sling, trying not to move his head too much. At least they didn't put him in a cone of shame. ]
