Emporio Alniño - JJBA: Stone Ocean - Cubone - OTA
[Emporio isn't someone people expect to be carried into the clinic. If anything they don't expect him to be pulled there by any means other than his own volition- he volunteers there. Helps to tend to the injured, the ill.
He doesn't get injured himself, not like this.
He's certainly been in and out over snow-rash; a rather unfortunate response between his Ground typing and the water. But this is something else. Ground types resist poison. They're strong against rock. He had the greatest possible advantage, it turns out, against the foe that his team had been pursuing.
The trouble being, they were the only team to do so.
The greater trouble being that they were vastly outmatched. Were it not for the care of their quarry itself, the Glimmora who came to their senses and called for rescue, they could have easily died out there.
As it stands, Emporio has been asleep- not comatose, this isn't the same as those other Pokemon- for a good long while.
...and now... ...now...he might be waking up...]
[OTA - BEING IN THE HOSPITAL SUCKS]
[There's a noted difference between Emporio and his fellows in the clinic.
That difference seems to be that he understands the importance of actually listening to the doctor, and stays in freaking bed. He's all swaddled up in his bed, helmet on the side, and various things like berry juices or herbal seed mixes set at the side.
Still, even if he's a good little cubone who doesn't wanna break the rules, he...is pretty bored.]
...wish I really did have my ghost computer now...
[Aw man...]
[WILDCARD]
[Got some fun ideas for the hospitalized lil guy? Go ahead and hit me up!]
no subject
He frowns. It'd be nice if children could stop being put in danger everywhere he goes.
Best not to talk about that, he suspects. So he simply addresses the strange item the Cubone referenced.] Please tell me it's not called that because the computer is possessed.
Ill never forgive araki for confirming its literally made of ghost sob
[Oh, he remembers Cedric! ...Cedric didn't know those tunnels near as good as the bird thought, but Emporio has trouble holding (most) grudges, so he'll just...not bring it up.
It's fine, he'll be nice.]
It's not a literal ghost, don't worry. I just called it 'ghost' because it's a tangible memory. In other words, it's basically a ghost! Right down to what it's made of.
PFFFF sob
(his Murkbrow, if you will). It's not a ghost, but it's also a ghost? Yeah, that still makes him a tad bit uncomfortable.]You mean the mind of a d- [Cedric, child.] -late person is inside?
[He doesn't exactly want to ask, but... all right, he'll bite.]
And just what is 'ghost' made of?
me shaking him *REVEAL YOUR SECRETS*
[Emporio almost panics, and then remembers that's silly, because he knows that isn't the case.] N-no!! That's not what it means at all..!!
It's the planet's memory. It remembers what the object looked like, before it was destroyed. I used to be able to access those...so, if a room was destroyed and built over, I could access the planet's memory of that room, in secret. It was a 'ghost room' that no one else could find, unless I wanted them to.
...Ghost objects...I mean, anyone would be able to see or touch them, but I had to find them first. Either way, they were really neat. You didn't have to wash ghost clothes, for example, since they were always in a state of being 'clean'.
no subject
[His eyes widen and he lets out a hearty chuckle.]
Oh, you mean the memory is inside, not a real soul! Of course! I knew that!
[He lets out a sigh, to
calm his nervesallow himself to collect his thoughts.]So it's more like... a box that allows you to reproduce something that's no longer there - but it's not the real thing, just the idea of it. Is that right? Reminds me of a spell I know, where you can make a magic visual of any item you want and even touch or wear it if you're so inclined!
[He tucks his wing under his feathers and pulls out... a feather. He stares at it for a moment before dropping it onto the ground, muttering softly:] Right, no wand.
no subject
[Emporio please have mercy on this bird.]
But yeah, something like that...That does sound a lot like making a ghost object though!
...I haven't found anything like that here, so it's alright that you can't show me, [he adds with a weak laugh.] ...Honestly it's kind of a shame though, since we'd be able to get a good idea of what the ruins used to be otherwise I think...
no subject
Sometimes I think I'll get used to it. But I find the longer I'm here, the more I'm reminded how much easier all of this would be if we could just have everything we left back home.

That said, there was clearly a great deal of trouble with the last few quests put out by the guild leaders, enough to pique his curiosity on the matter of who was hurt.
Seto Kaiba doesn't have friends. He has sycophants, nuisances, or employees. At best, he has acquaintances.
And yet somehow, when he noticed that a familiar Cubone was on the list of patients, it gave him pause. He knows that kid. That kid left him a gift, little that he deserved it, or cared about the entire gifting situation past what he was obligated to participate in by S.I.N.T.O'S unclear instructions.
So, despite not having friends, and having hurt Emporio before, he pays frequent visits. It's not as if it gets in his way--he'll often bring a book, or busy himself with writing in a journal he carries around frequently, anyone's guess what he writes, but that's not important. Don't worry about it.
As it so happens, the day that Emporio comes around, Kaiba's seated nearby, thumbing through a reference book with one leg crossed over the other. He's dressed in an outfit that definitely seems anachronous to his surroundings, but that's fine. Even as a Hakamo-o, Kaiba feels extremely anachronous to his surroundings anyway.
His eyes leave the book for a moment--did the kid just shift? Is he...waking up?]
no subject
But he'd never been able to do it before, and so that meant gifting as many as he possibly could, to anyone he could think of. Even just a little.
He'd appreciate the effort, even if the effort is denied. He will appreciate the effort, rather, as it seems that Kaiba is indeed not just seeing things. Emporio groans quietly, and slowly, his eyes begin to flutter open for a more lengthy duration than has likely happened through his recovery.
Annoyingly, perhaps, his first words- words of someone who has not fully registered where they are- end up...]
...did we win..?
no subject
Who knows, I didn't ask. Do you really think that's important right now? You're in a recovery room.
[It's poorly implied, but what he means is "Stop worrying about what put you here, and worry about whether you're alright."]
no subject
It's enough to almost wake him up fully. Almost.
As it is, he gives a bleary blink of probably-surprise, and then goes back to looking up at the ceiling.]
...yeah. [Yeah what? Yeah.] ...Things got a lot worse than we expected out there...
no subject
[It's said coldly, with no small level of judgment. Emporio's a child, he shouldn't have been allowed on such a dangerous mission as what was stipulated.]
Did your nursemaid decide against going with you or something? This should never have happened to you.
no subject
Anasui doesn't always team up with me. I went with Laios and Kris this time, and we had to go back the same way that took us to Glimmora in order to get back home anyway. ...Really, a lot just went wrong despite all the preparation.
no subject
[It isn't a question. It's also not a happy statement. The scale on his tailtip makes an audible CLINK as he twitches it into the floor, not unlike a peeved cat.]
Enlighten me, would you--why did you choose to go on such a dangerous mission, and why did you decide to run interference? I'm certain I've seen Laios before, he's a Boltund. A large dog. Three times larger than you.
Perhaps I'm the stupid one, because I can't understand why in the hell you would put yourself before him. I may not know all of the creatures here, but I am learning. I read.
[The statement is punctuated with him drumming his claws on the book he was reading. Once. Just to prove his point.]
Well? Is it ego? Is it some misplaced sense of responsibility? Go on, you're the expert here, tell me.
no subject
...he's always felt like the adult in the room, mentally.]
I'm 'Ground Type'. Resistant to fire, and...well, ground. Poison, as well. In fact, I'm considered stronger against it. ....Laios is Electric type.
He's weak to ground. Kris didn't have those advantages... ...but Kris gets distracted easy I noticed.
....both got poisoned while we were in the field. ...so it fell on me to choose a path home.
It's like I said. ....The path back to recovery was the same path that brought us to Glimmora.
We went through the forest, and foraged for berries to stave off the worst effects until we made it out. ...the problem is just that we didn't make it out.
no subject
So your partners were useless. I already knew teamwork was a dubious concept at best, but this is just sad. And it doesn't absolve you, either. You're not an adult, you should quit acting like it! There are others here who can throw themselves into the line of fire that aren't as puny as you are, and they probably should have!
[He won't add that he might have been better suited to this himself, because at the end of the day, he hadn't gone on any of those quests himself.]

From... from your ghost room, right? Not an actual ghost in the machine.
[ He never really learned what that was all about, did he? ]
no subject
[After the confusion with others, it takes a moment to realize that Bigby fortunately has the right assumption. Mostly.]
Yeah, of course! [he says brightly, smiling just a bit.] I mean, of course it's from my old ghost room. I figure...some people found their phones, so...
Maybe it's okay to wish? ....even if they're all text games, they would still have been great right now... Like a story that you're actually part of.
[Tell Bigby you think he's old without saying you think he's old, why don't you,]
no subject
[ Even if he could go without more unnecessary technology appearing around here. At least Emporio's mood seems to be lifting. ]
Right. [ A story that he's a part of. He's been in enough, truth be told. ] I mean, they have books for that too, don't they? Choose-your-owns?
[ So old. ]
no subject
[Ah, but that aside, he has a surprisingly normal-
....Well. Understandable, this is absolutely not normal-
Answer.]
Well...I knew they had those books, but the problem was there weren't any copies of those on the shelves in the ghost room. That meant any copies that existed were out in the prison itself, and they weren't really in any condition for re-use...
[Which, honestly really exhausting.]
no subject
[ Hopefully someone with far more creative talent than he could offer. He makes a slight face despite that though. Even after almost a year, he still hasn't gotten over the fact that this child grew up in a prison. ]
Uh-huh. [ He's still not sure what the hell Emporio means when he's talking about his ghost room, but first: ] Wouldn't have been a good idea to take one from the prison library anyway. Sounds like an easy way to get noticed.
no subject
[He frowns a bit.] ...Probably... ...I don't think everyone would be able to use them though, since those would need to be paper by necessity. When it's a full tablet it's not exactly easy to jump from page to page, right?
[Hmmm.] ...maybe there's something to that tabletop idea...
[Ah well, whatever.]
Oh-
Normally, yeah...There was one wall that line up with it, so I could get to it pretty easily even after hours, but it did still mean I could only really take books from one shelf.
no subject
[ Tablets. Bigby is so fucking sick of tablets, but that's an old rant for another day. He shakes his head. ]
Anyway, doesn't matter now. It's an idea for another day. [ When they aren't currently stuck in the clinic. For now, he makes a bit of a face, imagining a child sneaking around a prison again, but he tries not to let it unnerve him as much as it's naturally bound to do. ] But I guess that's better than being stuck with the ones in... your ghost room. [ Saying that feels wrong every time. ]
no subject
[Something doesn't seem quite as appealing about that, and he can't put his finger on what.
But, it probably doesn't really matter right now either. So he just leans back on his pillows, and nods.]
...Yeah.
...Honestly if I'm only gonna wish for things like this when I'm stuck in bed, I think that's the best thing.
