gardening antics !!

Mayaka is waiting just outside the garden with her arms crossed. She's already spoken to Umemiya and gotten instructions on what he needs help with.

She would get started right away, if only her partner wasn't late!

There's a scurrying in the distance, a little waxy white blob is coming closer and closer and...There's Catrina! Looks like she overslept and...what's in her mouth? Catrina...?

Oh no...Catrina is wearing one of the makeshift dentures she made, the one pair made with a dragon fang, some rocks, and a sewing needle. Catrina looks just chipper though!

"I'm here hahah! Sorry for that wait, overslept a bit."

Mayaka rubs her eyes in mild annoyance as she turns towards the approaching Litwick.

"You shouldn't be late whe-- wh-WHAT'S THAT IN YOUR MOUTH?!"

"You like 'em? They're my brand new teeth! I got folks to help me make a few pair of teeth to use last month."

Catrina is smiling brightly with those deranged dentures she made from various teeth and miscellaneous objects. "I call this pair my ear piercing teeth!"

"No, I don't. They give me the creeps!" she says plainly.

She's less conscious about coming off as rude to Catrina now that they've known each other for awhile. Mayaka is also resigned to the fact that this little monstrous candle will do whatever she wants regardless of what anyone says.

"Why exactly do you need teeth, anyway?" she asks as they make their way over to an open patch of field to plant seeds.

"Well, if you woke up in a new body that had no teeth, wouldn't you want your teeth back?" Catrina answers that one with another question...Catrina..

But it's fine, Catrina gets to enjoy having her new and very awful homemade dentures to wear, looking like a deranged Fuggler. Mayaka is definitely in the right mindset of resigning herself to the fact of Catrina doing whatever she wants regardless of what others think of her.

OH! Digging holes? Well Catrina grins as she bounces up towards the open patch to start punching holes into the ground for the seeds. At least it's the perfect size to drop the seeds into...maybe.

"You'd look cuter without it, Cat-chan," Mayaka says helplessly.

While the Litwick is going ham punching holes into the ground, Mayaka methodically uses her claws to carefully make small indents into the soil just big enough for a seed to be planted. She'll tidy up Catrina's area after she's done with hers.

"Anyway, once we're done with this, Ume-kun will give us some veggies to bring home. You need to learn how to eat more greens."

"So you'd be okay waking up with no teeth?" Catrina is wondering if being toothless was a fashion statement where Mayaka came from. Maybe Mayaka might want to donate some teeth for Catrina's cause...?

Damn...like damn as Catrina pauses to see the neatness going on for gardening...that sure is weird. Gardening is chaos and getting messy, but hey, to each their own as Catrina rolls her orb eyes a bit.

"Pinecones are a green, very strong in fibers."

"Okay, that would suck," Mayaka admits reluctantly, "but I wouldn't make dentures out of sharp and pointy objects!"

"You need variety in your diet, different greens have different nutrients. Look, over here."

Now that they're done planting the seeds, Mayaka wanders over to a patch of crops that haven't been watered yet, pointing out the sizable cauliflowers to Catrina.

"Mayaka, sunshine, I'm gonna have to take you out sometime and get you to play around with teeth. They're a part of fashion." Catrina was now set on giving Mayaka a fashion makeover with TEETH. Clearly teeth are an underestimated fashion statement.

If Catrina did have a nose, she would be scrunching them up at the cauliflowers of abnormal size.

"Um, no? Those smell like farts when cooked. Aromatics and root veggies are the way to go, make a braised eel stew with 'em."

"No, no, no. Teeth are for eating, not fashion!" Mayaka says firmly.

She rolls her eyes at Catrina's description of cauliflower, but at least the Litwick isn't opposed to eating other types of veggies.

Mayaka glances at the next plot over, and finds a number of carrots that haven't been harvested yet.

"So, you'd eat those?" she points to them with one claw. Her other claw is using a watering can to water the caulifowers, as per Ume's instructions.

"They can be for both! There's the folks that get their teeth tattoo'ed for fashion and aesthetics~" Catrina actually was correct for a change...there are folks that do in fact get their teeth tattooed...

Catrina will have to make a point of things by roasting cauliflower then for Mayaka to smell...truly it is the fart plant and will not be dodging the allegations anytime soon.

Oh but yes, there are other veggies Catrina can definitely will eat, but for now...

"Yeah I'd eat Jimmy and Bob the carrots in a stew with Steward the yam and Oscar Onion chopped in there."

".... Did you just give them names?"

"Yes, yes I did~"

"Isn't it messed up to give them names when you're going to eat them?"

She is standing with a basket next to the carrots now, wondering if she should harvest them.

"Not really, most people name their cattle that's going to on the plate in the future. It brings good luck."

...Catrina that's absolutely terrible reasoning for naming the veggies...

"So morbid..." Mayaka mumbles, before deciding to change trajectory.

"Now that you've named them, I guess that means you're responsible for taking these carrots home to eat, right, Cat-chan?" The Sneasel gives her a toothy (non-metal) grin.

"Wonderfully morbid, isn't it?" Ah okay, fine, changing the topic as Catrina puffs her cheeks(?) a bit.

"Well yeah, but I'm not paying the child support for the carrots before I get to eat 'em in a stew." Catrina was impressed by Mayaka's teeth though, definitely could use the metal. Maybe one day, Catrina will convince Mayaka to embrace the fashionable teeth trend? Catrina will definitely fail at this...

"Then come help me harvest them!"

Mayaka grabs onto the leafy top of a carrot and tugs. It doesn't budge from its spot in the earth. Either its roots are deep, or she's just that weak.

[gimmeeyeballs]

"Well shit, hang on, I'll help you with a bit of backbone in pulling 'em out." Catrina...you don't even have a skeletal structure...Oh well that candle is sauntering over to Mayaka to help pull out carrots.

This should be easy..right? Catrina grips onto the leafy steam and goes to pull hard at it. Will it liberate the carrot from Mother Earth?!

Nope. The carrot stays in place.

Mayaka eyes it suspiciously, before shifting attention to the carrot next to it. This one, she pulls out from the ground easily.

"Something is weird about that one," she says as she chucks the freed carrot into the basket.

That carrot mocks Catrina as she glares at it. Yep, that's it, Catrina has declared war upon the root vegetable as Catrina goes back to pulling at it harder.

"I WILL CONQUER THIS CARROT COME HELL OR HIGH WATER!" Catrina roared a bit the best a tiny candle can do in dentures.

Catrina is tuning out Mayaka for the moment as she goes straight into attacking the carrot....

"Wha- hey! Quit messing around!" Mayaka says, putting her claws on her hips.

Now that Catrina's all fired up, she should manage to pull the carrot an inch out of place --- only for it to yank itself back into the earth, tugging Catrina downwards with the counteraction.

[gimmeeyeballs]

"Tell that to the thief! They're trying to kidnap Carol Carrot here!" Catrina shoots back as she goes into full tug of war mode with whoever is trying to take the carrot from the wretched candle.

The pulls from Catrina increases a bit and good grief, she's preparing to get into a battle with whoever is underground over the root vegetable...

"Thief?"

Mayaka approaches the plot and starts digging up the soil, dislodging the carrot further, and revealing the bone-white claws of the culprit gripping onto the other end of the carrot.

"Ah!" The Sneasel staggers back in shock.

The culprit is still not willing to let go of the carrot. Mayaka steels herself before going back into the plot to clear more of the soil.... to reveal a tiny Sandshrew which had dug its way underground to access the roots of the crops.
