[Alright, well, even if he wanted to keep going, he can't if Mayaka's dropping the facade.

Also, it's probably not got a lot of point to it if Flowey's calling it out. As it is.

He's not mad Flowey. He's just disappointed. You can see it in his stareeeeee-]

...An apology isn't going to mean much if you don't fully mean it, [Emporio points out first, because that's sort of a big part of an apology. But that's also not really what the most important thing here is. The important thing is-]

...Flowey? ...I didn't have friends who weren't adults before coming here. ...And you're still my friend, to me.

[It could almost be heartfelt. Almost. It can't be fully heartfelt, because he adds with a more quiet tone-] ...But even if I didn't want anything bad to happen to you because of this, that doesn't mean we could ignore it. Mayaka ran outside without any of her winter stuff on, you know? ...if I'd done that... ...I'd probably have gotten a pretty bad rash.

[His actions have lasting consequences-- which he will discover again later in the month, when he tries to call the Pokemon who vanished only to have his connection attempts auto-rejected. It's not as easy as just resetting and wiping the slate clean, here. He should know that by now, and yet...]

... you know I can't really mean it, Emporio. [Not the way someone with a soul could, at least.] And even if I could, it doesn't matter. You think you're going to stay here after this is all over? Yeah, right. So many of you losers fall into comas like Lusamine or Sanji, or you disappear into the forest like Fireheart or Laios. It's always the same. [Lusamine still believed in him, but she's gone. Laios hated him at the end, but he's gone.]

I'm sick of playing nice all the time and acting like nothing's happening. [He doesn't care that Mayaka still thinks they're ever getting out of this.] Like we're still the same people. Like we're ever going to have the chance to go home, anyway.

[No, she is the same person. She is. Mayaka stubbornly tells herself as her claws accidentally cut through the rope, and the sticks scatter at her feet.

She inhales sharply, and tries to keep her cool around the two boys -- despite their young age, it's obvious they've been worn down by the world so many times over. Mayaka can't possibly fathom what they've been through, but she still feels the responsibility to be the older sister here!]

Maybe we don't get to go home. [ Even saying that pisses her off.] Maybe... we don't want to go back, [ she adds, remembering what Emporio shared with her before. ]

If we don't get to choose what happens to us, then aren't the things we can choose even more important? Like, choosing to be a better friend, or choosing to continue doing what you've set out to do.

[Emporio perhaps has a more pragmatic look at it, but Mayaka speaking first gives him time to think over how much of that he actually wants to say. How much of it is important, perhaps. And...

...Perhaps more importantly, the chances that maybe all of those things Flowey is talking about, mean that all of this...

...is just lashing out.]

...Flowey, I've been thinking about that. [That whole 'can't', thing. Obviously.]

...You're not in the same body as before, even if it's you. ...And if you stand by people changing over time while we're here- which is okay by the way, [he adds, specifically looking to Mayaka as he says that-] ...That's just part of what time does.

...Flowey. Depression and frustration are emotions too.

You can't be sick of anything, without feeling it. And the body you're in, can do that.

[Flowey turns away from them both, his stem drooping down. He's showing weakness in front of Mayaka again-- she already asked him why he likes pushing people away. It annoys him that, logically, she's right.

He's so sick of trying to be good. What does it matter? Everyone disappears in the end.

... but Emporio is right. While he doesn't feel things like anyone else, exactly, especially his lack of ability to feel true attachment... it is going to bother him forever that Laios left before ever forgiving him.]

... Fine. I'm sorry. I won't do it again.

[Ugh. He feels like his old self-- a stupid small child being scolded by his mother. It's not like he wasn't acting like it, though.

He does his best to gather up the sticks that Mayaka dropped. If he really works hard, they can be done with this whole nightmare sooner.]

[She steps back to give Flowey some space, and decides to work on another part of the railings. If Spinarak has been lingering nearby to check if they're actually doing what's been assigned to them, the spider will finally leave them alone.

Mayaka doesn't fully understand what Emporio just said. Flowey can't feel things? Best not to poke at it now, as curious as she is.]

Alright, alright. [She says with a light sigh to break the tension.]

How did you do that, anyway? Changing your appearance and voice?

[No, no, his point is that Flowey maybe CAN feel now, which is probably a hell of an experience after god knows how long without-

Ahhh it doesn't matter right now. Well, it does, but it doesn't all the same. Rather than hop right into the work though, he opts to make use of his own super power at hand which is having arms that also aren't poisonous.

Which is to say that Flowey is rather abruptly getting a hug, even if it's likely from behind. Scolding from Toriel wasn't the vibe he was intending to bring, but somehow that might be the feeling now more than ever.]

...It's okay if it does happen again, [He says.] Everyone trips on the road sometimes.

[And god knows he's seen worse, in his opinion.

But, back to work. Mayaka's asking a good question now that they're actually putting stuff together again, and admittedly, Emporio's curious to hear it.]

[Flowey freezes up. When was the last time...? Was it with a certain someone before he came here?

... it's very different, and yet very similar. Emporio is still warm. Flowey thought he would feel cold, like a lizard. He does have scales like a lizard. The biggest difference from back then is that he can't hug him back.

It's embarrassing that this is happening in front of Mayaka. She already seems to view him as younger and in need of coddling. Did she forget that he's senior to her in the Guild and gave her advice regarding combat training and overcoming her fear of ghosts?

On second thought, he doubts it. Maybe it's because he was 'watching out for her' (not like he cares, of course) that she's trying to do the same in return. How quaint.

A second passes. Flowey lets out a breath, then wriggles out of the embrace.]

[When Flowey turns around, his face is a carefully constructed smile again.]

Neat, isn't it? I could do it back before I came here, but lost it for a while since I've got a hard shell! Then SINTO hit me with glitter and, well...

[It's like his face melts and molds itself like putty. The process happens very quickly, which either makes it more or less disgusting. When it's done, he still looks like a Sunkern, but his face looks more like a Sneasel. Specifically, Mayaka.]

I'm Mayaka! I have skills that I'm too embarrassed to share! [He says, in a near-perfect impersonation of her voice.]

[Just as Mayaka's enjoying the warm fuzzy feeling of seeing the two boys share a hug, Flowey has to pull another fast one on her.

Except this time, she's trying not to take it so seriously. She doesn't like it, but she doesn't hate it either. Especially when there's some truth behind the jab. Why is he so sharp? Regardless, she's too stubborn to be intimidated by his attempts to push her away.]

Urgh! Rio-chan, I don't sound like that do I? [She's more exasperated than angry.]

[He won't press to make that hug stick around, don't you worry Flowey. Instead he'll watch as the Sunkern works his magic. And it really does feel a little like magic!

...Pfff-] Pff...

W-Well, he's got your face and intonation down, at least..!!

[Flowey cackles to himself. Even Emporio has to admit that he was spot-on.

(There were far meaner things he could've said in Mayaka's voice, but he's going to be on good behavior. ... For now.)]

Hee hee... all right, all right. I won't impersonate anyone without good reason. But just think of the possibilities that it could have for guild quests!

[Tricking enemy Pokemon, for instance.

... Speaking of guild quests, he should get to work.]

[She still can't bring herself to fully trust Flowey's words. But at least now she some ammo for the next time he does prank someone. And she can't deny that it might have its uses.]

Let's get this finished and go for snacks! [Mayaka decides. Food is always a good motivator, right?]

It would be pretty useful during some of the more intense quests I bet...

[Ahh, but yes, back to this-] Right- Right, pass me those parts so I can tie these down..!!

[They can get to work, and have snacks later!!]
