Impromptu Oran Sleepover

Who: Oran newbies
What: Having fun with communal dens
When: Sometime after Mightyena gathered them up
Where: The Spire, low tier dens
Warnings: Will add if anything comes up, but not anticipating anything

[As everyone knows by now, the Oran Berries depend heavily on communal living, sharing a bed is simply to be expected. For some, this experience was temporary. Mightyena was kind enough to lend the mysterious misplaced PokΓ©mon a place to rest, but now some of them have moved on.

For others, this is now a part of life, and it's time to get used to it. The Oran Berries value treating everyone like friends and family, after all, so you're expected to do the same! Why not have some fun with it?

Whether you've noticed your fellow newcomers are all gathering in one den, or you suddenly find yourself dragged into the the party against your will, everyone is invited! Everyone's going through the same thing, belong to the same guild, you gotta stick together.....right?]

[[ooc: Feel free to use this as a mingle log! We have nine Oran Berries (I think???) and although the dens are said to hold up to eight, I think some members are small enough that we should be able to include everyone!]]

.......like camera film?

[well he's seen a camera!]
telewarped: (I choose to move forward)

[personal profile] telewarped 2025-02-15 07:07 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, actually. Lucky guess.

[At least he's not as clueless as Firepaw!]

It's a story recorded using a camera.
offtracks: (πŸš‡ reefer)

[personal profile] offtracks 2025-02-15 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh...like a picture book?

[That must've been expensive and time-consuming to produce...]
telewarped: (All the little things)

[personal profile] telewarped 2025-02-15 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[Pfft.] Sort of, I guess... But the frames are all stitched together and shown in succession, so the images look like they're moving. That's why they're also called motion pictures. Where I'm from, there's places you can go to sit and watch 'em... Or you can have copies of your own to watch at home.

[She sounds a little wistful.]

So you know cameras... Just not the kind that record video, I take it?
offtracks: (πŸš‡ zeal)

[personal profile] offtracks 2025-02-15 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
No! I have only seen one camera before, but it certainly cannot do that! It only takes regular photos! You must travel to Jubilife Village to have a picture done, and it is not cheap, but I have done so once or twice. I find such tangible reminders valuable.
telewarped: (The shroud encroaches ever closer)

[personal profile] telewarped 2025-02-19 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
[Only once or twice? That's sad... Where's he even from, the dark ages?]

Yeah, I get that. I was always taking pics back home. I didn't have to go through all that work, though... I could just take 'em using my phone whenever I wanted. But I'm... guessing you might not have those either where you're from, huh?

[Sad!]
offtracks: (πŸš‡ clean the clock)

[personal profile] offtracks 2025-02-19 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
....no, we don't. What are they?

["Camera" at least he had some context for.]
telewarped: (So many episodes)

[personal profile] telewarped 2025-02-20 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Bummer...

[And an additional bummer that she can't just rudely tell him to go look it up himself. For all she knows, she might be the only one in the whole world who has even heard of a cell phone. She sighs.]

A phone's a type of communication device. If you have one, you can talk to people even if you're really far apart. Whole countries apart even, if you want. Where I'm from, loads of people have smartphones that can do that and a bunch of other things. You can record stuff, take photos, play games and music on 'em... And they're portable, too, so you can take 'em wherever you want.

[Another sigh, thenβ€”louder and paired with a theatrical slouching of her disguised form.]

It sucks not having mine...

[personal profile] offtracks 2025-02-21 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
Ah! That sounds remarkably useful!

[A tad bit familiar too, actually?]

People in the future must never get lost!
telewarped: (We're so close to success)

[personal profile] telewarped 2025-02-27 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
It's not like people never get lost... But yeah, it definitely helps when you've got a map for pretty much anywhere right in your pocket.

[In the future, he said. Well, that confirms it.]

... Geez. You really are from the dark ages, aren't you?
offtracks: (πŸš‡ unsure)

[personal profile] offtracks 2025-02-27 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
The dark ages?

[He cannot imagine anyone calls it the dark ages while they are actively living in it, but all the same, he does not think it is anywhere near THAT bad!]

It is a few hundred years before Emmet's time! I think he probably has a phone! Or, he used to, at least.
telewarped: (My senses slowly fade)

[personal profile] telewarped 2025-02-27 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
Uh, yeah? Barely any tech, you have to go to a whole other village just to get one picture taken... Sounds like the dark ages to me.

[But she is a city girl who is quite online.]

Wait. You're brothers, right? You and Emmet. [Even if she hadn't seen their shared Grumpearl message (she did, though she didn't respond to it), she probably could have figured it out based on the way they interacted with each other in the Spire.] But... you're from a few hundred years before his time?
offtracks: (πŸš‡ hunting)

[personal profile] offtracks 2025-02-27 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh.

[Right. Ingo hadn't fully thought that statement through.]

Yes. There was time travel, evidently - I am also from that time to begin with, but I do not really remember it now. Certainly nothing about phones...
telewarped: (I've come to realize)

[personal profile] telewarped 2025-03-02 06:51 am (UTC)(link)
Geez.

[She does have some secondhand experience with time travel herself, at least, which helps her wrap her head around this concept quick enough (even if Rindo definitely never traveled back nearly that far).]

That's gotta be weird. [For Ingo and Emmet both.]
offtracks: (πŸš‡ fuses)

[personal profile] offtracks 2025-03-02 06:59 am (UTC)(link)
Mmm...yes, it is.

[His tone is careful. Emmet's still right here in the room with them, after all.]
telewarped: (I've come to realize)

[personal profile] telewarped 2025-03-03 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
[She glances briefly over at Emmet.

Ohβ€”right. Awkward.]

Well. If it's any consolation, I guess we're all in a weird situation now...

[It probably isn't any consolation, though. Now she really wishes she had a movie to focus on...]

Anyways... How does this place compare to what your used to? Feels sort of like it's somewhere in between... Not full dark ages, but I can't say I've seen a single screen anywhere yet.
offtracks: (πŸš‡ flag)

[personal profile] offtracks 2025-03-03 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
It really does not seem strange to me at all, outside of the obvious!

[This being a village of Pokemon, them having all become Pokemon...you know, that stuff. Ingo's loud and goes on quickly, eager to move onto a different subject.]

Everything here seems reasonably familiar to me, in terms of the way things work and what types of goods are available! Most of the quests are just the sort of things we would have been doing back at the Pearl settlement. The pearls are certainly new, but of course that could not be accomplished by humans at all.
telewarped: (Sometimes I wonder)

[personal profile] telewarped 2025-03-05 06:25 am (UTC)(link)
Well, sure... Outside of the obvious.

[But the obvious is pretty weird, even by her ex-Reaper standards.]

Huh. Well, good for you. Maybe you could teach more than just PokΓ©mon stuff, then. I mean... a lot of this has been an adjustment for me. [She lifts a ghostly hand to fidget briefly with one ear of her disguise rag.] Even outside of the obvious... Was gonna say that the pearls are a little like phones, since you can use 'em to talk and send video and everything... But the thought-sharing part's definitely not.
offtracks: (πŸš‡ hunting)

[personal profile] offtracks 2025-03-06 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, yes, that is very strange. I wonder if there is a way to make them less...broad?

[He hasn't accidentally shared anything all that bad, but at the same time, he doesn't usually mean for as much of his thoughts and feelings to come through as they do!]
telewarped: (Like a coma)

[personal profile] telewarped 2025-03-22 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
Beats me. Beyond just not thinking at all, I guess...

[It must just take practice and focus, she figures, like learning to imprint only one, specific thought into a person's head from the UGβ€”but that had never been a two-way street, and using the Grumpearls means using psychic ability that isn't her own. For all she knows, maybe it'll never get easier to keep all her thoughts to herself.]

Bet that comes easier to some than to others, hah.
offtracks: (πŸš‡ hunting)

[personal profile] offtracks 2025-03-22 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not something I have ever been good at.

[The joke seems to have missed him; he’s earnestly thinking of it more like churning over his past and all.]

But, yes, I suppose that must be the trick. We must all take up meditation!
telewarped: (All the little things)

[personal profile] telewarped 2025-03-23 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
[She snorts.]

Yeah, that's not gonna happen... I say we all get matching head traumas instead. Much easier.
offtracks: (πŸš‡ short line)

[personal profile] offtracks 2025-03-24 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
We are all lucky to be as unharmed as we are, I think...

[His own brain certainly didn't survive his first trip through time and space unscathed...]
outbounds: (shadow cyclone)
