QUESTBOARD

At 7am sharp every morning, the city comes fully alive with the posting and highlighting of new quests! Of course, the questboard is something that should always be checked, with rescue missions always a possibility outside of normal update times, but there's something special and heartwarming about the way the entire city comes together this same time each day, just to see what they can do to help one another.

Upon joining their guilds, newcomers have been invited to take a look at the quests themselves. There are rankings they'll have to concern themselves with, after all. Today is a special day, because the newcomers have now officially all been added to the member ranking roster! They are all listed under their respective guilds at the very bottom, sporting a nice 0 points so far. Don't worry, no one's judging them yet. Currently, the guild leaders are at the top rank of their respective guilds. As far as guild ranking, Lum Berries are the top guild, followed by Oran, and lastly by Cheri.

The quests themselves are pinned to the wooden board securely, hanging in clear view with the following information listed for each: quest giver, difficulty level (1-3 stars), rewards (points and/or items, plot mentions obviously are not there), and a message from the quest giver. As for the currently available quests...

GUILDS

Many newcomers already seem to be settling into their respective guilds, and it's left the city with an optimistic energy buzzing around! Each guild has their own unique way of handling things, but all three come together in a way that benefits Bottlecap Bay as a whole, and the newcomers seem to be blending in quite well, despite those worrying nightmares from before.

Acceptance comes with new responsibilities, though, and there are a number of things that each guild expects or requests of their new members.

Lum Berries are straight to work recording information about the latest storm, as well as the newcomers and their nightmares. Polteageist requests that the newcomers in this guild pull their weight by gathering as much information as they can about each newcomer in the other guilds and help record this. Physical descriptors are important, but so are their dreams, their personalities, their beliefs, and so on. It can be hard to dump this sort of information on just anyone, so do try and make some friends if that's what it takes. Beyond that, the results of the exploration quest recently posted will become important, as Lum Berry members will be consulted on the next steps.

Cheri Berries first hold a group celebration of their new members in the Canopy where they'll be spending so much of their time. After a lot of great food and silly icebreaking games, Ribombee will personally thank everyone and mention his quest posting, implying that guild members should try to help not just with their own guild quest, but others. In addition to that, duties will be split across the new recruits, and everyone will find themselves with a schedule of berry gathering, scouting, and monitoring the forest growth and ecosystem health. Busy busy!

Oran Berries are having a month long celebration for its new members. Meals are already held together, but they're made extra special and fancy this month, straight out of Mightyena's metaphorical pocket! She's working overtime to provide for her little Oran Berries. Members are encouraged to help out in the mines, but more than that, are told to enroll in fighting classes, as well as potentially host some of their own to fellow newcomers. No one understands the struggles of adapting to a new body quite like someone already going through it, right? The city is relying on you!

NIGHTMARE RESOLUTIONS
( PLEASE SEE THIS THREAD )

As mentioned on the TDM, characters who have not shared their doubts or feelings with another still have had their nightmares vanish by February 10th. Since then, not a single report of nightmares has been sent in to the Pokeclinic or the Archives. Isn't that great?

More perceptive characters may notice a sense of foreboding despite this calm, however. The more the month goes on, the more a nagging feeling surfaces at the back of every mind. Aren't you forgetting something? The feeling gets more intense, overwhelmingly so, and nothing seems to help with it.

Please respond to this thread below indicating whether your character shared their emotions to relieve the nightmares, or whether they timed out. There's a helpful little form, so go ahead and fill it out as soon as you can! Once we have everyone's info, we'll get back to you all with an update.

⟡ Guild and member rankings will be more properly displayed hopefully next month! Since no player character has any points yet, we did not make that a priority. As of right now, we will be tracking your points, but we recommend keeping your own tracking somewhere as well in case we mess up.

⟡ Please keep your eyes open for a temperature check sometime before the end of the month! This will discuss potential changes, player wishes, and other plans for the game as a whole. Because of this, March's schedule is likely going to change as we iron out the details with you all.

"Oh, of course, exercising the utmost respect and caution!" Alastor chuckled in amusement before reaching for Ingo's paw to shake it. "Alastor, by the by! Pleasure to be meeting you, quite a pleasure! I've already met our little bird friend here."

Akechi suppresses the urge to growl, trying to subtly wriggle his way free. "So, we're in agreement that we should stick to the mission objective, which, of course, means focusing on the acquisition of the requested berries."

Not hunting, and not taking chances with mushrooms. "But you're welcome to acquire whatever else you wish on your own terms."

Just don't slow them down.

"...I am Ingo. It is good to meet you as well!"

This person seems like a lot! Oh, well, he has to deal with it now. "Yes, I quite agree! We ought to pick up a basket or two on our way out!" He's not sure how well he can carry a basket, but it's definitely better than trying to carry handfuls of loose berries! At least Alastor has actual arms. Maybe he'll help?

"Berry picking with baskets! Quaint indeed, why, it's been too terribly long since I've had the chance," Alastor guffawed melodramatically, finally freeing Akechi from being an armrest.

"I've stitched myself a bag and that will do nicely - no basket needed for me, chums. You, though - much larger, you could carry quite a pack on your back!" Alastor remarked, pinching Ingo's arm like he was testing the firmness of muscle.

"It shouldn't be too difficult to carry a basket in the air. Berries are typically light, so I imagine I'd be able to hold a decent load before it became a problem."

Still, backpacks... Akechi hums, sizing Ingo up. "You may be able to procure a basket you can wear like a backpack rather than carrying it in your paws."

"Ah!" Ingo takes an immediate step backwards at the arm pinch, though his expression doesn't change and he...tries to go on like normal. "That would be very useful, if we can find one!" Would he be able to load it up himself? Can he even reach his own back with these short legs? Ingo supposes he'll figure that out sooner or later...

"I will be able to best carry baskets. Shall I fetch some and meet you?" He's gotten to know several of the local Pokemon! He's pretty sure he can just beg a few off of one of the berry-sellers for now.

"If we're off to fetch things, I'll simply pick up the bag I stitched for myself. And fetch yourself a large basket - we'll have our flighty fellow handle picking and depositing if you handle carrying."

And he'll do both, right? That's the implication, yeah??

"Now. Which gate shall we meet at before proceeding into the wild green yonder?"

"We'll likely have the best odds in the canopy, so the southeastern gate may be our best bet." That being said, he's open to input, and thus his voice lacks a commanding edge, in favor of something more relaxed.

"Quite so!" It's a sensible direction, and the one Ingo would have suggested himself. "Very well! Let us go prepare, and then meet there!"

It's something of a direction and a dismissal, but he does not particularly mean to take on leadership of the group. Frankly, he does not believe that a simple three-person foraging group requires a hierarchy at all! Ingo trots off, anyway. Begging a basket off a merchant he knows is easy enough; they even happen to have one that functions as a pack! They do have to help him get it on. Hopefully he can get it off by himself later...

Anyway, he'll do that and then make his way promptly to the meeting point!

"Perfect! See you there, chums!" Alastor waggled his fingers in farewell as he melted into shadow, zipping along the ground and disappearing towards the canopy.

Given he's currently in Cheri, that made the stop aaaall the easier for him. No trouble at all to fetch the bag he'd fashioned for himself, ugly as the thing may be. He was no Rosie, after all. But he'd had his practice fashioning dolls for his magicks, so a bag with a few sneaky pockets was easy.

He'd have to gather a few things to experiment with later, after all.

By the time the two reconvened, Alastor was practically lounging against a tree.

"Come now! I can't imagine searching for food will be very easy at all with just a bit of flame and starlight to illuminate things," Alastor teased, beckoning them closer.

Akechi, ever the dramatic one, swoops down with his own appropriately-sized basket in his talons. "Fortunately, birds are known for their keen sense of sight. I imagine Ingo-san's sense of smell will aid us just as well."

He does look rather badger-like, after all. Certainly, it's easier to imagine his enhanced senses than a ghostly doll.

Nonetheless, it would be wise for them to keep moving in order to preserve as much daylight as possible.

"It's certainly an odd thing to get used to," Ingo replies amiably enough, already moving along into the forest. It isn't all that late by his reckoning, but there's still no reason to dilly-dally. "Everything seems to have a smell to it now! I imagine I could track someone quite well with it, if it came to that."

Naturally, the nearest trees and bushes to the town are picked quite clean. They'll have to go farther out. Ingo is really the only one of them who has to walk, so while he's sticking to the pre-existing path for now, he does lift his head occasionally to scent the air. No reason not to go off-trail if there's something interesting out there!

"Honestly, the smell of foliage and loam is a welcome reprieve! I don't need heightened senses to appreciate the difference. Now! Most of Cheri has gone South or West for the day, I wager for rotating what areas are getting foraged getting a chance to replenish its growth. We ought to pick a direction that way or just ahead of their sweep."

As they make their way through the forest, Akechi flies low enough to remain in sight. "A wise decision. Perhaps we ought to go east?" Akechi once again turns his attention to Ingo. "Though, I suppose with your sharp sense of smell, you have the best odds at pinpointing the spoils..."

"I do not mind conducting!" Ingo nods, then rises onto his hind legs to look up at the sun. His pack seals, fortunately, and is empty right now anyway. Orienting himself easily, he turns towards the east. "You two can search from the air, and I will try to smell the wind!"

Improved as he's found his sense of smell, this will still be the first time Ingo's attempting to actively track by scent. It will be a bit of an experiment!

Well, 'by air' isn't exactly in his repertoire in this inconvenient doll body... but he'll hum and roll his eyes, dramatically, before vanishing into shadow and skirting along the forest floor under the leaf litter.
