[LOG] Early August
Who: Ren Amamiya and YOU!! (and Goro Akechi)
What: General interactions post-coma
Where: The Oran Berries Guild, Grumpearl network video, the Pokeclinic
When: Early August
Warnings: Discussion of illness/injury/disability, medical stuff in general, implied medical trauma. More TBA as needed.
Having been out for all of July thanks to succumbing to the mystery illness that has been plagueing Bottlecap Bay for a while now, Ren's still regaining his bearings. He's a little mad at himself for letting it get this bad- and for making everyone worry. That's the last thing he wanted. Still, he's eager to catch up on what he missed, and to start doing missions again... but he's still under doctor's orders to take it easy.
1: Return to the guild.
Having woken up and finally (finally) been deemed healthy enough to leave the Pokeclinic, the first order of business is to return to the guild. There's an excited march in his step, though it is somewhat undermined by a limp, and the general air of... tiredness hanging around him. A sure sign that he's still recovering. That said, the moment he steps through the entrance of the spire, a grin spreads as he immediately sees a few familiar faces. A few new ones, too, but regardless, he seems happy.
"Hey," he says, voice a little rough still, "sorry to worry you, but I'm back now. What'd I miss?"
2: The Pokeclinic.
A: The waiting room.
Despite being declared healthy enough to leave, that doesn't mean he's completely rid of the clinic. With strict orders from Dr. Denne, he's back the next morning for a checkup already- to make sure he's doing okay. Ren thinks it's a little much; okay, so he's aching all over still, and it's causing him to limp a little, but it'll clear up, won't it? Dr. Denne said it would, so why all this?
Still, he begrudgingly enters the clinic, watching the pokemon bustle around to take care of the patients. His ear twitches, but he goes to announce his presence to a nearby Chansey, who tells him to wait- they'll come get him soon. So he does, settling down.
B: Checkup.
Soon enough, Ren's called in by the same Chansey, who takes him to an examination room. It's not Dr. Denne today doing the checkup, which makes him... a little nervous, honestly. Okay, a lot nervous. The people here are no Takemi, and despite having been treated here, he still doesn't like it. There's needles around, and all sorts of things he doesn't recognize, and he knows, he knows they don't mean him harm... but the mind doesn't easily forget, despite what he tells himself.
If you're volunteering at the clinic, perhaps you might notice him as you bring around equipment and medicine...
3: [Locked to Akechi] before all this...
For the first time in a long time, the green body in the hospital bed makes a noise. Not just a pained moan or anxious shift at whatever nightmares keep him trapped in his sleep, but an honest to god, confused wake-up noise.
Ren's in pain. His eyes blearily blink away sleep, but it's... hard. He's so tired, and nothing properly registers. He doesn't recognize the shapes in front of him. He's confused, and a little scared.
He does, however, recognize a familiar smell. Consciously or not, the slowly waking Ren seeks it out.

His feathers fluff up and his eyes pop wide open. "Ren! Are you...?"
It may be surprising to hear Akechi sound so alarmed. He's usually more composed than this.
no subject
Ren gurgles, unsure of what's happening. Why does Akechi sound so...
"... 'Kechi?" he slurs, still more than a little out of it.

Ow. Owowow. He aches all over, and it does not help with his confusion. Still, he fights through the daze, trying to take in Akechi's words.
"... A-" he cuts himself off, coughing a little. His voice feels rough from disuse. "... Month...?"
no subject
He fishes a berry out of his satchel. "Here. Take it."

"Hey, welcome back, I hear? I'm one of the new guys, among the Oran Berries."
no subject
"Heh, guess my reputation precedes me, but it's always good to see new faces. I'm Amamiya Ren- but you might've heard as much already. It's good to be back, for sure."
Even if he still has to take it easy for a while, much to his chagrin.

"Sure am. You too, then?" he asks, tilting his head. There are some others who are also Japanese, but not every Japan seems to match up with the one he knows. He wonders...
"Regardless, it's nice to meet you, Umemiya-san," he says, formally, before switching to a grin, "you can just call me Ren, by the way. Everyone does."
The social rules he's familiar with have been thrown out the window a long time ago. It's a little overly familiar, but hey, he's never been a stickler for rules anyway.
no subject
"It's nice to meet you, too, though. I've never seen a green cat before. Are you some sort of plant-y Pokemon?"

2, B.
Hi! Umm, my name is Noelle. I'm new here, and I'm learning the ropes here at the clinic! I'm just going to ask you a few questions, um, if that's okay. [She feels silly being nervous about it... this is her responsibility.] Can you state your name for me? And, how are you feeling?
no subject
Ah-haha, right. Uh, I'm Amamiya Ren. It's nice to meet you, Noelle. Thanks for taking care of me, [he starts, going for a cool, collected tone, but it comes out not quite as steady as he'd hoped.] I'm feeling... fine, I guess?
[He feels a mental Dr. Denne shooting him a look, and his ears flatten a little. He doesn't want to be a bother, but he... can't. Collapse again. That'd be worse, so...]
I mean... I'm still a little tired. My joints ache, too. I've, uh, been limping since I woke up.
[He sits up a little straighter.]
It's better than it was yesterday, though! [Maybe. A little? It's hard to tell.]
no subject
[She makes some notes on her tablet.] How has your sleep been? Have you had any strange dreams or difficulty sleeping...?
no subject
[Dr. Denne said something similar, if he remembers correctly. He- might have been a little out of it still back then.]
My sleep's been- [fine, he wants to say, out of pure habit, but he stops himself, and shuffles in place a little, uncomfortable,] -difficult.
[This is like pulling teeth for Ren, clearly.]
... I've had some nightmares too.
no subject
[She feels selfish for comparing herself to him when he's been through so much worse.] This isn't part of the appointment, but... if you wanted to talk about them, you can talk to me. If you want.

Ingo's moved out of the more communal rooming, along with Emmet, but he still spends a fair amount of time in guild headquarters. There's often new arrivals to help out, after all! "I am glad to see you up and about! Did you just recover recently?"

The Espathra strolls in with a bag of medicine and a tablet with the results of Ren's last check up in his beak (stolen from the front desk). He puts the tablet down on a display stand and stares right at Ren.
"Hmph... Done giving Akechi a heart attack? Or is that still on the table?"
no subject
"That's always on the table," he says, attempting to recover from startling like that. "So. You're doing my checkup today?"
Just act casual!
no subject
"Well, I'm not here to coddle you," Anasui says dryly as he puts some of the berry boxes and potions on the table. When he's done, he'll turn to Ren. "But all the same, I'll ask how you've been feeling. Do you remember when your last check up was?"
no subject
"Yeah, sure," Ren replies, "I was here until yesterday, so: yesterday. I'm-" fine, he wants to say, but that'd be a lie, so he exhales. "-tired still, I guess. My joints ache, too. Uh, I've been limping."
no subject
He pauses and tilts his head. "Limping though? Show me how you put pressure on it. Which leg?"
