[As part of the Cheri Berries, gathering resources is usually one of Flowey's most common jobs. It's always annoying for him to manage with no arms, but the good part of it is that usually he can get some other sucker to do most of the heavy lifting while he hangs out in the cart full of lumber.

That WOULD be the case today.... but instead, he's lucky enough to be paired with Ribombee's new favorite. Meaning, if he even THINKS about stepping out of line, Ribombee will have his head. (His leaves...?)

At the least, he can try to butter this 'Tenna' up to manipulate him, thus allowing him to manipulate Ribombee. Always look on the bright side!]

Howdy! I'm your senior guildmate, Flowey! [Immediately, he decides to pull rank. Not that he has much-- he doesn't even have mid-tier housing yet. But, still.] I'll be showing you how things work on today's quest! Don't worry, just do what I say and you'll get along just fine!

Dusk has fallen over the pumpkin field, and it's quickly getting darker-- and colder, too. Flowey wishes he remembered to bring one of the hats he got for his birthday.

So far, none of the ghosts have shown themselves yet. He admits, he's gotten a little distracted looking at the stars. It's a clear night, and he's just in a nostalgic enough mood to remember the days when he used to dream about seeing the real stars while he lived underground. The stars above may not be the ones he would've seen on the surface of his world, but maybe that's why he likes them so much.

When Kinger shows up, Flowey arches a brow. "About time! Congrats on getting into a guild. It sure is a good thing the Oran Berries take anyone and don't mind that you're crazy!"

[Flowey has never met Umemiya, but he responds to the quest because gardening is easy-peasy and he wants to keep working up the ranks. Plus, it will make his beloved Death Blood Murder Skull Town look nicer. He meets up with the other person to sign up at the site of the garden.]

Golly, good thing nobody put up a scarecrow! Hee hee! [These are his first words to Cedric. He sticks out his tongue.] It's just a joke, pal. I'm Flowey! You must be here for the quest!

[There's one thing on Flowey's mind as he signs up to do this quest again: Vengeance. He won't rest until every one of those stupid ghosts is gone from the pumpkin patch.

He's prepared to fight them on his own if he has to, but he is relieved to hear someone has come to help him-- a dark-type, no less. He does NOT expect that person to be the same one who showed up randomly, ate the warp seed cake meant for Ralsei, and vanished.]

Huh? You're still alive? [Well, that's a relief. It's not like he was worried, but better not to have a murder that can be traced back to him on his record.] I mean-- great! You're alive! Boy, after you ate that cake that was trapped for some weird reason, we were so worried!

[The second time Flowey signs up for this quest, it's because he sees some other newbie is signed up already for it. And it's NOT Ribombee's favorite this time, which means he can get away with hazing the newbie by making them do most of the work while he gets the credit.

As soon as he meets up with Impmon, he greets him by saying:]

Okay, new guy! I'm going to do the hard work of identifying the trees that we're allowed to gather wood from and also supervising. You can do the easy part and just gather up and place all those branches into the cart.

"Right you are!" Kinger agrees.

Flowey doesn't need to know the truth right now. It's usually easier for everyone to just think he's crazy. No need for serious conversations at the first real opportunity to stretch his mycellium.

"Have you ever seen a... Pumpkaboo or Gourgeist before?" Kinger says, looking around for what he assumes based on the name are haunted pumpkins.

[The Sableye's giant gem eyes can't exactly emote, so the scrutiny in his stare must unfortunately be inferred.]

Hey, you think I was born yesterday, buddy?

[Look, he's not a lot smart, but he's done this bit before.]

If you can't get off your butt and help, go 'supervise' somebody else, 'cuz I don't need it.

[Not that he has a butt, since he appears to be a, uh... seed.]

[Despite their lack sight, they are staring at Flowey dead-on, a faint flicker of red within the shadows of their mane. Hello best friend.]

For some weird reason. [uh huh, like he had nothing to do with it?

They're not happy about this assignment... but whatever. They're here anyway. The aura of malice fades, and they simply walk past Flowey towards the pumpkin patch without another word. The sooner they get this over with...]

"No," Flowey says, as a Pumpkaboo materializes directly behind him. "I'm starting to think they aren't even real."

After all, a haunted pumpkin? (A Gourgeist materializes behind Flowey as well.) That's just silly.

"I got here early, so I've been watching this field for half an hour and haven't seen a thing."

[Why is that stare so familiar? It's like Chara just discovered he ate their last bar of chocolate.]

Right... hee hee.

[Flowey sits there awkwardly before hopping after them.]

... Say, maybe we got off on the wrong foot! I'm Flowey! Flowey the Sunkern!

Me? But I'm just a little seed!

[At Impmon's insistence, Flowey begins to gather small twigs very slowly and pathetically. Somehow, he's even more of a detriment now than he was just sitting there.]

You know, you oughta show some respect to your superiors. I'm a high-ranking Cheri! [Higher ranking than Impmon, but otherwise, this is simply not true.]

[For some weird reason, they abruptly stop. This is, apparently, a very important introduction.]

[They try to say it sarcastically, but mostly they're just very confused. Why would that be a good thing? This jerk teleported them to the middle of the woods? He wanted to do that to Ralsei? Why is it happy to see him???

Maybe it just has a sense for assholes... or something.]

[Hey, as long as he's not just sitting there being lazy, Impmon will consider that adequate. It's the principle of the thing.]

Yeah, yeah, lookit these stubby little arms, you don't see me complaining!

[And to demonstrate his point, he quickly begins hauling more wood than his tiny figure probably ought to be carrying. Look how productive he is! No whining or griping from him!

...Okay, he spent most of the time since he got here complaining vehemently about that very thing, but he's not complaining right now, and that gives him the moral high ground! Right? Right!]

Gah!

[Cedric lets out a loud caw when Flowey speaks - oops, that's an Astonish. He really needs to control that. Anyway, he winds up blinking several times at the foot-tall seed next to him.]

Y-yes. Call me Cedric. And you're a... flower seed, I'll presume?

"Flowey!" Kinger yelps, leaping forward and blasting Purple Yell- or as he's learned it's properly called, Astonish- at the Gourgeist.

After the leap, Kinger flops in front of Flowey, looking up at the two Pumpkin Pokémon.

"There's more where that came from!"

Of course. 'Right behind him' is one of the most classic places for enemies to be. The Astonish makes the Gourgeist flinch, which gives Flowey enough time to act.

"Hey, idiot! That other pumpkin ghost just laughed at you! Are you just gonna take that?!"

Lacing his words with magical intent is what transforms mediocre ragebait into a Swagger attack. Gourgeist seems to shine as its power grows, but Kinger can practically see little birds spinning around its head as confusion follows. Flowey ducks as Gourgeist swings its massive arms and knocks two other Pumpkaboo around before finally punching itself in the face.

"Not bad, right?" he says, turning to Kinger. "I've been practicing! Hee hee!"

He says this right as one of the Pumpkaboo levels him with a Confuse Ray of its own. Flowey's eyes start spinning around. This might get volatile.

Aaa--

[Flowey flinched!]

Watch it, "buddy". You might end up hurting someone. [This is said with as much malice as a little sunflower seed can muster.]

I'm a Sunkern! Boy, you must be very confused by this whole 'Pokemon' thing? Need someone to explain it all to you? WITHOUT attacking anyone?

["Good to see you again?" Did they just change their mind about being mad at him? Why did they say it like that?]

Uh, same here?

[There's little time to ponder that, though, because two Pumpkaboo try to jumpscare them with a loud "boo". Flowey only flinches a little bit.]

Here we are! Hee hee... watch and learn!

[Flowey immediately tosses a Blast Seed at them which bursts a pumpkin wide open in the crossfire. Seeds and pumpkin goo fly everywhere. When the smoke clears, the Pumpkaboo are both down. Flowey lets out a maniacal laugh.]

At least you've got arms. I get the point, so calm down, overachiever. The guild leaders aren't gonna give you a bonus. [He tosses a twig into the cart. They aren't even really paid, per se, besides the privilege of food and housing. Then again, this society doesn't really use money to begin with.]

So what's your story, new guy? Got warped in after winning a popularity contest?

[Well, Tenna's not exactly used to doing the bulk of physical labor- not if it didn't involve one of his Physical Challenges, at least! That said, he is trying to do better, and pull his weight (somewhat, at least). Ribombee is a nice guy, and Tenna doesn't mind doing something for him!

... That, and he might be able to take some of the wood for his new studio. Hey, he needs materials, too! He's sure Ribombee will understand. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like his partner today is in much... shape to be carrying large pieces of wood. Unfortunate, but Tenna can work with this. He bends down- unitentionally towering over Flowey.]

Well hello! [He grins, trying to project as much friendliness as he can.] I'm sure you've heard about me already, but just in case: you can call me Tenna! I'm truly thrilled to be working with you, Flowey! Thank you for showing me the ropes.

[He turns to the forest, then to Flowey, still smiling.]

So! Lead the way, so I may learn!

Kinger leaps back upright, circling around the Gourgeist and yelping out another Astonish. The Gourgeist whirls around, fighting through the confusion and flinch chance to show Kinger the most terrifying Scary Face on its pumpkin that he had ever seen, slowing down his reactions.

Gourgeist used Scary Face!

Kinger stepped back slowly, taking the moment to take stock of the situation. "Flowey! Are you okay over there!?"

Golly, it's no problem at all! And of course I've heard of Mr. Tenna! I oughta consider myself lucky to get to work with such a star! [Is he laying it on a little thick? Very likely. But this guy seems like the type to drink it all up.

With no arms and little strength, it wouldn't be easy for Flowey to pull the cart that they're meant to store their materials in. Fortunately, a friendly local Mudbray helps them. Flowey rides in the cart all the while.

Once they reach a suitable section of forest, Mudbray lets the cart go and waits nearby for their return trip. A few other Pokemon are gathering wood and would be happy to explain how to gather, treat, and store the wood properly.

Except Flowey doesn't let them. He actually got here early to learn how to do it, himself, so he could be the one to teach Tenna. That way, Tenna would be a little more indebted to him than before.]

Alright! Listen closely, here's how you're going to do it!

[Flowey explains the process to Tenna in such a way that most of the physical labor will be Tenna's responsibility.]

"Who said that?!" He fires a string of Bullet Seeds at Kinger, but the majority of them miss badly. The one or two that do manage to hit are Not Very Effective. "Kinger, why are there three of you?! You should've told me if you were bringing a Queen or a Duke or something!"

The Pumpkaboo laugh at Flowey's antics. This all appears to be a big game to them. Maybe amusing them enough would also make them leave.
