APRIL 2025 EVENT LOG
The sun rises, and a gentle breeze blows. A day like any other arrives in Bottlecap Bay, and for many of the pokemon that so recently arrived it is a now familiar process. Members of the various guilds flock to the Quest Board, in search of tasks to better provide for the town. Others, maintaining businesses of their own within the small settlement, start to open their doors for another day of work.
There is something different about this day however, and it is a difference that defines the next number of them. There is never truly a dull moment here after all, and it’s time to get involved.
DONATION DRIVE
As spring fully settles into the bay, the clinic begins to advertise for additional activities on the Quest Board. A call for donors is made- but donors of what? Pokemon arriving in response to the request will find that answer to mean “anything and everything that can be given” - along with potential medical samples to help with further research into the mysterious illness, there are a great many things that can be made from shed feathers, brushed-out undercoat or trimmed horns and claws.
Or even sweat, alarming as that may seem.
Those willing will be given small interviews in which they determine what to donate, and after the process (however involved), be given a small boxed treat as compensation. And of course, they’ll record the contributions with their guild leaders too!
⟡ WHAT NOW?
Donated materials can be used for a great many things, and throughout the later half of April local businesses will be happily showing their relevant crafts off. Pokemon are invited to try their hand at sewing satchels made using Spinarak threads, spinning yarn from Stufful fur, or stuffing pillows with Ducklett down- and perhaps if they donated anything themselves, they can even make something of their own.
Literally.
NO “I” IN TEAM
With the need to re-evaluate the results of recent expeditions through the surrounding forest before making the move to branch out further, the leaders of the three guilds have come together with some training exercises to better pass the time. Rather than sit and wait between tasks determined by the quest board, the last weeks of April see various events hosted through the city with one goal in mind:
Team Building.
A. ⟡ SHOW-AND-TELL
As part of an effort to encourage understanding and community, the Guilds each host various meet-and-greets in their personal buildings- or in the case of the Lum Guild, the public Archives. It’s a chance for pokemon to show each other where they sleep and eat, to share a little of their lives with their fellows from other guilds.
There are also more awkward sharing activities- tossing a ball in a circle and giving a fact about oneself. Tying each other limb to limb and performing races. Or even gift exchanges with the donor crafts! Nothing says community like a present from the heart.
B. ⟡ STAR LIGHT, STAR BRIGHT
As an extra step from simply showing what each guild room looks like, sleepovers will be encouraged through the remaining month as well. Perhaps it’s time for a repeat of the great Oran Sleep-Pile- or maybe a sequel hosting can be held in the Canopy with the Cheri Berries.
It’s a little trickier with members of the Lum Guild, with each one having their own apartment of sorts, but just ask! Surely a few friends can pile together in their Lum buddy’s house.
C. ⟡ THE GREAT ESCAPE
Polteageist is thrilled with the success of the ‘escape rooms’ from March. As such, the existing courses and challenges have been since repurposed in order to encourage pokemon to work together, improving on the initial project. Once again working in pairs, dangerous (but not lethal!) challenges await those who wish to sign up for them. As with before, there are three different rooms to choose from, and experienced rescue Pokemon will be on call the entire time. Anyone who takes longer than the allotted time will be rescued.
⟡ Ocean room. Two Pokemon are put to sleep and wake up in a small cave beneath the water, with pockets of oxygen for those who need them. Upon waking, they must work together to escape the labyrinth of caves beneath the water and make it back to Bottlecap Bay. Some obstacles along the way may include: a maze-like cave system with misleading routes, paths with less or no sunlight, strange plants that may inflict status effects, agitated or disoriented wild Pokemon, and varying water temperatures/underwater geysers. It has an hour time limit, so good luck!
⟡ Forest room. Two Pokemon are put to sleep and wake up in the center of a dense forest, with tree cover blocking most sunlight. Upon waking, they must work together to find their directions, navigate through thick brush and forest, and make it back to Bottlecap Bay. Some obstacles along the way may include: the fog, collapsed floors into cave systems, sudden steep drops, aggressive Pokemon and plants, vines, thorns, poisons and toxins. It has a two hour time limit, so good luck!
⟡ Cave room. Two Pokemon are put to sleep and wake up far beneath the city, in one of the many tunnels belonging to the mines. Upon waking, they must work together to reorient themselves and find a way out to Bottlecap Bay. Some obstacles along the way may include: unstable sections of mines leading to collapses, a vast assortment of tunnel directions leading to disorientation, extreme temperatures, lava pits, and lessening oxygen levels. It has an hour time limit, so good luck!
OOC NOTES.
⟡ CWS: body horror, medical imagery
⟡ Though dates specified cover only the last two weeks of April, players may assume continued donation drives and crafting projects to be available through the start of May, though less frequent.
⟡ We of the Bottlecap Bay Help Team would like to extend a sincere thank-you to everyone for their patience during the transition of tasks concerning the upkeep of the game. Current events have been taking a significant toll on many, but we are hoping to finalize Exploration Quest responses within the next few days. Thank you again, and happy threading!

QUESTIONS
Firepaw
Firepaw is finally slowing down, and starting to take the pain signals in his paws seriously. For the last few days he's mostly been staying in bed - a sharp change from his normally overbooked schedule - and trying to rest. But now there's an opportunity to lay down while contributing to the city, and he's all over it.
After the interview he ends up flopped on a table, getting his undercoat brushed out by one of the Clinic workers. It's a little overstimulating, the same way it would be for a cat, but he's too exhausted to really care.
ii. Show and Tell
He isn't feeling well enough to visit the other guilds, but Firepaw is happy to greet anyone exploring the canopy. They get to see his delightful mess of a nest, scrapped together from sticks, moss, ripped-up blankets, loose cotton and pretty much anything else that's soft and easy to carry over. He even managed to nab some of the Mareep wool from the Donation Drive, which is making it much more comfortable to lay in for hours at a time.
There are beds up here, Firepaw just isn't that into them.
He's also happy to join in on team-building exercises - he can't toss a ball but he can roll it back and forth and share facts about himself. He is, however, doing his best to stay out of activities that require a lot of walking or physical effort. Look at him, he's growing!
i
Still, he skitters closer, giving an amused snort.
"Having fun?"

[Ingo has made his way up into the canopy once or twice now, in spite of his greater size. He's not sure he can access all of the Cheri guild platforms, but he's starting to feel more comfortable on the ones he can get to!
Though he was pleased to see his young friend at first, he's also familiar enough with Pokemon generally to notice when something is wrong.]

Goro Akechi
[Akechi is very particular about his grooming. He doesn't let just anyone touch him. However, since becoming a bird, he's found that loose feathers simply happen from time to time. Sometimes when he's preening, sometimes when he's simply milling about.
The recent afflictions are concerning, and while the fog hadn't harmed him too much, he sees no reason not to participate.
But when he struts into the clinic to give his offerings, he not only hands over blue and black feathers, but little clumps of green fur and a stray whisker or two.]
Hopefully the proximity won't meddle with the 'purity' of the samples. I believe Ren intends to offer more direct materials as well, but since we have been sharing a sleeping space, that means he's shed on the bed.
[It makes nice bedding, actually. Some Oran berries may have even seen him fluff it up and lay it out when Ren was up and about... But he can spare a little.
Just a little. Shh. Don't think too much about it.]
B. Crafting
[Curiosity drives Akechi to observe the businesses at work. There's something intriguing about the way that Pokémon use their own natural materials to create goods. Blankets, pillows, satchels like the one around his waist...
An extra pillow would be good for Ren, come to think of it. With all the aches he's had of late... Hmm...
So, eventually, he can be seen trying to stuff a pillow. However, rather than just stuff it carelessly, he carefully compares the consistency of his own feathers with that of the Ducklett down and other supplies...]
It needs to be soft, but still firm enough to offer proper support...
[As always, he's a picky, meticulous sort.]
C. Show and Tell
[The only reason Akechi is here is because Ren challenged him to socialize and be more... ugh, open with his feelings.
So, when the ball comes his way, he carefully catches it in his wings, which may look a bit silly, but he's grounded, and it's quicker, okay?
Still... what to say? Hrm.]
I'm left-handed, and it would seem that dominance applies to my wings and my legs where dexterity is concerned. However, I am still proficient at using my right hand, and many don't even realize my dominant hand.
[Nailed it.]
D. Sleepover
[Akechi has been curious about the other guilds, and this is an excellent opportunity. The Archives, of course, appeal to his interests, but for some reason, he's found himself drawn to the Canopy in particular.
He's a bird. Birds like high places. Perhaps it's his instinctive desire to perch on branches. Ren also seemed enticed by the idea of climbing around. Not to mention, it's in close proximity to those mushrooms, and they still have work to do...
But Cheri Berries and other visitors may find a certain Rookidee skittering around with intrigue, soaring, swooping, perching, and just generally enjoying the wind in his wings...
And perhaps sneaking berries into his satchel from the nearby foliage when he thinks no one's looking. Shh...]

Firoza Istus | Final Fantasy XIV (OC) | OTA
Can I donate some of my poison?
[Firoza asks this right out the gate, when the point of the donations is explained to her. She has kind of a short coat, and it doesn't shed much. Her own horn and claws don't really shed, either, and her teeth have been kept in excellent condition since she discovered how good it feels to gnaw on things. But the poison? She can just make that!]
I know one ought to be able to make antidotes out of it, of some kind. The process is not one I'm familiar with. But I do know it can be done with actual poison. Oh, or...I've been finding a lot of great bark shed from the trees in the Canopy, and out in the forest, and I had this idea...
[You either encounter her trying to convince someone that giving up some poison is totally a great idea, or her returning with her blue bandana no longer around her face, but bundled and then unfurled to reveal foraged bark, some of it knotted and braided - carefully - into shapes easier to get your mouth around and tougher to stand up to lots of chewing. There's a wispy scar on the right side of her face, tendril-like lines creeping over her cheek and threading through her whiskers - it's healed completely, but the scarring has made it impossible for fur to grow back in the area, and it looks like it really, terribly hurt...
Anyone who has been here since the start of all this knows she didn't have that before. What the actual fuck.]
B - Handy at Handicrafts
[Working with Spinarak has been part of Firoza's routine since Ribombee pointed her in that direction, and doing so during the donation drive is no different. Some of the fur and/or wool that's been donated has to be processed, after all, and Firoza has taken an active effort to turn it into actual bolts of fabric the old-fashioned way. Washing it thoroughly, carding through it by hand with a bristly brush (or sometimes her own claws, if the clumps are just too stubborn to break down on their own), spinning it, finding ways to press it into felt...the fabric she makes is amateur at best, since she's working without the usual tools even those without synthesis could use, and her Nidoran paws can't do things as well as her normal hands, but some of the Bug Pokemon seem impressed with her efforts. You know, for someone who can't make her own silk.
Anyway! If you happen to come by, you can get a humble, small bolt of undyed fabric to work with! You're not going to be making anything worthy of a haute couture runway, but the entire time, Firoza looks to be in her element, focused and undeterred by setbacks.
Where does some cool, sword-loving adventurer learn to make fabric, anyway...?]
C - No "I" in Team: Show and Tell
[Showing off the Cheri Berry guild is kind of fun, actually? Firoza's gotten used to the layout, so she knows where things are, how to navigate the Canopy, and where's the best place to be to watch the sunrise or sunset come through the leaves. But these party game things? A little awkward, for sure. She sits in the fact-sharing circle, watching the ball pass between the others nervously. You have to answer a question from whoever sent the ball your way - which is fine - but then you need to make up a question in return. What does she ask? A lot of the easy ones, like favorite colors or foods, have already definitely been taken.]
Ah...hm. Mmh.
[Nervous, awkward fidgeting. The Warrior of Light, defeated by indecision.]
C
If you could pick one member in the group to kill, who would it be and why?
[Akari had a small list of questions already forming in her mind, so she was willing to spare one or two.]

Roza, hey!
[Once she's close enough, she sees the woven bark, and then the scars on Firoza's face. The sight of the latter startles her, though only a little. Firoza's tendency to hide her face with her bandanna had made Shoka suspect that something might be hidden beneath it, but she'd thought better of prying.
Not for the first time, she's glad that her lack of a face makes her difficult to read. She tries to play it off as if she didn't notice anything.]

Courier Six
[ When Courier Six arrived for the quest, he's let himself get scraped down for loose scales. It almost looks like a massage. His eyes are closed, his wings flapping a little. ]
You know, I would have done this without th'reward. It's probably better then tryin' to scrape 'em off. I need to find more dragons t'figure out these damned scales.
[ Oh, look! He's nice and relaxed! Not like he's going to suffer. ]
[ DONATION DRIVE Part 2 CW: Medical Trauma, Illness ]
[ But then, later that day, there is a storming out Dragonite - eye wide, muttering about 'it's fine' and 'just don't look closer'. One of the Pokemon trying to examine his samples is following, a fussy-looking Lurantis, calls out to him. ]
Sir! You need to get back here! We need to take more samples--
[ Courier Six begins moving faster, his whole body trembling, horrified. He looks like he's not going to be stopped easily, but as soon as he thinks the Lurantis has stopped following him, he stops. And lets out a quiet... ]
Fuck.
[ SHOW-AND-TELL + STAR LIGHT, STAR BRIGHT ]
[ Courier Six was wandering around, looking for those other Pokemon. He might not notice you're one of his buddies from other worlds, as he goes into speaking. ]
...so, anyway, these tablets? Actually quite easy t'make, if you have claws. I've only messed up a few times. I've been keepin' track of those people comin' here, and all.
[ He looks to the higher levels of the Archive. ]
Each of us has a role. It's nice. Speakin' of, I've actually got my own place t'stay. Well, not my own, there's some other large Pokemon who stay with me. Bein' this massive isn't so easy. I bet y'don't need to eat as much as me.

Guilmon
Guilmon isn't really sure how this donation stuff works. He had some shedded scales, but for medical stuff...
Well, he can be seen offering fire into little containers not unlike lanterns. He giggles excitedly as he fills the containers. Apparently it can be used for making bread < i>and crafts like metal and ceramics!
Of course, once he's done, he can be spotted scarfing down his tasty treat, tail swishing in excitement. "Hmm... If Guilmon keeps helping, does that mean more food?"
Decisions, decisions...
B. Crafting
Guilmon isn't an expert at arts and crafts, but there's a first time for everything, and he's excited to learn what sort of cool things he can do with his fire! Ceramics seem fun, because you can play in messy clay. It's like mud, but fancier!
Which is why he's giddily trying to sculpt... something out of it. He's not sure what yet, and he's gotten clay all over his hands.
"...Maybe Guilmon can make Guilmon? Or Renamon... or Terriermon, or Culumon. Or Takato? Hmm."
A pot might be simpler, but he hasn't considered that.
C. Curious Critter
Trees are really tall and leafy, but Guilmon likes digging, so with the opportunity to explore the other guild headquarters, you can bet he's scurrying around the Oran Berries base, curious to see all the tunnels.
As he goes about, he chants in a singsong voice, "Tunnel, tunnel, tunnel... So much digging! Maybe Guilmon could help..."
This probably isn't a good idea.
D. Show and Tell
Guilmon very excitedly hops up to catch the ball when it's his turn... but where to start? There are so many things he could say, so he just lets the words fall out of his mouth.
"I'm Guilmon! I was small when I got here, but now I'm not small anymore. Normally I'm a Digimon, which are kind of like Pokémon but made of data, and my Tamer's name is Takato. Oh, and Tamers are human partners who help their Digimon get stronger! But they're also our best friends. Takato lives in a bakery, so he always brings Guilmon lots and lots of bread!"
He may keep going for a while, at this rate. Someone's a little too excited.
E. Wild Card
[Open to other prompts! Behold the silly, sniffy boy in all his glory. You can hit me up in PMs or on Plurk at
D
"I'm Firepaw - I was small too, but I grew up and now I'm pretty big." For a cat, he's still a foot tall. "I uh... I used to live with humans, but I don't know my housefolks' names. I don't remember much about them at all, actually. We weren't really friends like you and Takato are."
Which is a little sad, but not enough to register on his face. And he rolls the ball back to Guilmon for another fact.

A: Considering he sheds fur a-plenty, Ren certainly doesn't mind contributing it to the donation drive. The fact that he's getting properly brushed out as well is certainly a bonus; washing himself has been, uh... interesting to say the least. It's more of an instinct than a conscious decision, usually, though the ache in his muscles has made it a little harder than he'd like.
He lets out a sigh as one of the clinic workers goes through his coat. It feels a little like a massage...
"... This is nice..." he purrs, content.
B: He also figured he'd offer some cooperation with the samples for treating the mysterious illness that's been plaguing the city. It seemed like a good idea at first; the chronic pain isn't going away, and while he can deal with it, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that it may have something to do with that. Not to mention, he helped Takemi out plenty with her medical trials. It's not like he's a stranger to this.
... But now that he's in the waiting room waiting for his turn, he's tense as a board. He doesn't want to back down, not when he already promised his cooperation, but he does look a little like he might be sick.
2: Show and Tell
While he is, in the grand scheme of things, still somewhat new to the Oran Berries, Ren feels confident enough to volunteer for acting as a tour guide to the guild. If nothing else, it's a nice, low-key activity to keep him moving. He's posted at the entrance, greeting visitors coming in, and offering them a tour, if they'd like.
"Welcome to the Oran Berries, glad you could make it. Would you like a tour?"
3: The Great Escape
Ren has decided to sign up for the escape room challenges, figuring it'd be most fun if he didn't know what awaited him. So, he and his partner of choice wake up in one of the three rooms at random.

Show and Tell!
Emporio of course, has seen a little bit of the Oran guild HQ. It was where all those who initially arrived had to stay until they had things sorted after all, though Emporio got to share one of the upper level rooms rather than anything down below.
Which, speaking of which- "Uh- There hasn't been a flood recently though, right?"

Emporio Alniño
[Emporio hasn't got a lot to offer- Dr. Denne did suggest perhaps a bit of dust from a ground move, but when the cubone hesitantly admitted that he still hasn't accessed any of those, there was a concerned sounding chirp and a pat on the arm before the question of blood samples came up instead. If he can't donate anything like that, he can at least help with medical research, after all.
And well, Emporio has happily done that, now sitting with his snack and looking very much like a kid who just got their first shot- complete with a decorated bandage.] Mmmm. I wish I could have done more though...
[Ah, well. Maybe another time?]
[CRIBS, BOTTLECAP EDITION - SHOW + TELL / SLEEPOVER]
Well. Uh...this is where I've been staying...
[It's a cozy little place, but compared to Oran and Cheri, it is luxury. Emporio has a door to the street, with lovely box flowers growing right there. Inside, everyone is greeted rather immediately to a small study space and cooking area- both of which are heated by a small stove fireplace.
There's even a bedroom far at the back; over all, it amounts to little more than a small apartment, but it is his.] It's been really great..! Th...though it feels a little awkward to say that, right after seeing your room...
[Which, presumably was a shared place in either a flood prone cave, or a leak prone treehouse. Ooch.
Emporio is open to more than a tour though of course. As evening draws near, and sleepover time approaches, he gets to set up everything else too.
...Everything being, well, a futon he's invested in with his hard earned savings so far.] I...I do have a bed, yeah, but it'd probably get kind of cramped if we all slept there right..?
[All is more than just him and a guest, after all.]
[CLOSED - THE MIDDLE FOREST]
[Well, they might not know what to completely expect,
literallybut the day is here. Gathered at the final point between the town limits and the forest itself, Emporio looks from the daunting treeline to those with him....
Hopefully everyone is getting along for now, but he can't help look from the two down near him, to the one giant of the group.] ...This size discrepancy never really sinks in completely huh...
Middle Forest time! \o/
[They aim their giant ears toward the forest, listening to the faint rustling of wind through the trees. It's almost like the fog is muffling the sound of anything else...]
[Siffrin twists one ear back at Emporio's comment.] Well, if we end up needing to fetch something out of a tree... it's a re-leaf that we won't have to climb it.
[They wink at Anasui.]

Ingo
Perhaps I ought to find someone to do this more often...
[Later on, he can also be found spinning his own fur into yarn. It's not precisely the same technique that he's seen used in Hisui, but Ingo never did much of it there anyway. As a Warden, he had other responsibilities. It's probably not a hobby he'll attempt to pick up in earnest, but for now he sits and watches the spindle with close focus.]
ii. star light, star bright | oran berries
Come and lay near me, if you would like to be a bit warmer! Or drier!
iii. cave room
Ah, the caverns! Give me just a moment, then...
[He rises to his feet, shaking himself off again, and then ignites the purple flames of his collar. Who's his partner on this one?]
iv. wildcard
III
Even though 'theoretically' this is 'safe' and he did technically consent to it, Anasui doesn't appreciate getting knocked out, so he's all scowls as he wakes up. Anasui looks over at Ingo, neck audibly cracking as he stretches it out.
Hmm... He looks sort of like that tiny brat who was intent on 'helping' Anasui. Weird coincidence.]
... So you've been down here before. You know how this whole training thing works then?
