October Catch-All
Who: Kinger, Cedric, and You (especially fellow Oran Berries?)
What: Kinger coming to terms with being a PokΓ©mon in Bottlecap Bay
Where: The Spire (plus anywhere a Wildcard takes us)
When: Early October
Warnings: At least amnesia? I can't think of any others right now.
1. Right Behind You
Yelling from the training rooms is sometimes par for the course for the sound of exertion and combat. What probably is less common is short screams of varying tones.
Anyone who investigates will find Kinger, circling a training dummy while making short yelps and screams, attempting to Astonish the dummy. He sounds like he's starting to get a little hoarse, but he is singularly focused on the dummy and doesn't notice when you approach.
2. Sea Seeking King
Despite having a body that, for the first time in decades, probably needs sleep, a few nights in to his stay he can't. His newly tiny stature gives him the luxury that few others in Oran housing have, which is to sneak out without waking his roommates. Probably.
He wanders his way outside to stand at the cliffside, feeling the cold spray of saltwater from the ocean. He laughs to himself quietly.
"It's real. I'm not in the circus anymore."
He sits near the cliffside, just enjoying the delicate feeling of salty autumn air that nothing in the digital world could possibly replicate. He lets off a faint glow, making himself visible to anyone else restless tonight.
3. Wildcard
Feel free to hit me up with any other ideas for my little mushroom man! I will also be throwing any prompts we discuss elsewhere under this.

This isn't a species he recognizes. Astonish is familiar, though. ]
Hello! Are you one of the new arrivals?
[ Ingo is. Like a million times Kinger's height, boy. ]

[Kinger is startled in the middle of attempting some sort of combat roll around the training dummy. Which mostly involved him flopping on the floor and moving along like an inchworm behind it. A small puff of spectral energy is let out in Ingo's direction as Kinger shouts, but it's blocked by the dummy before it reaches him.]
Oh! Yes, I'm Kinger. I'm practicing my signature Purple Yell technique!
[Kinger sounds very proud of working on one of the most widespread and weakest PokΓ©mon moves, but he's got the spirit?]
no subject
[ The execution may leave something to be desired, but. That's fair. ]
Astonish can cause other Pokemon to flinch, so you could use it to help escape unwanted battle!
no subject
[Kinger thinks for a second.]
Somebody told me that's... a ghost type move? I should probably learn some mushroom or royal type moves...
no subject
[ And what else? Ghost? He has the color palette for it, but Ingo still wouldn't want to say so definitively. ]
Pokemon can learn moves outside of their own typings, so you may not be a ghost-type as well...it would take some testing, I suppose!

Grass... Am I some sort of wheat man? Corn man!? No wonder Jax didn't stick around... How do we test it?

...Well, the cliffs are up high, that's almost like his tower if he squints hard enough. But that's about where the similarities end.
Point is, he's instead hopping all over the place, occasionally flying to hard-to-reach places when he feels brave enough. He's just flapped down from the rooftop of Oran's main building when he lets out a sharp gasp, because Walt help him, he almost landed on somebody-
"Merlin's mushrooms! ...Oh, that is a mushroom. Uh, I knew that."
He adjusts his feet and smooths out his feathers. It's fine, right? It's not like the mushroom's another of these "PokΓ©mon" who just witnessed him embarrassing himself...

Kinger looked over the bird in front of him. So many weird birds here, first the perfectly spherical bird, now this bird has a built-in hat! Nature is beautiful.
no subject
And of course, his feathers have puffed up again. Just his luck. At least at home he can just comb his hair or something... or better yet, just do a cleanup spell... oh, if only he had his beloved tower to escape to...
Ehem.
"Right. You, too, can talk. And we can understand each other, for some reason. My... apologies?"
no subject
Kinger yelps out his own Astonish, a puff of spectral energy coming out as he does so.
"I'm Kinger, nice to meet you!"
no subject
And then the mushroom makes him flinch, more feathers flying off his skin. Molting season, am I right?
After a couple of pants as he gets over the shock, he lets out a sigh to calm himself. "Nice... to meet you... too. Call me Cedric."

"If you're so set on screaming, you may want to stay hydrated."
no subject
"Thank you, Akechi!" Kinger brings the glass to his nonexistent mouth and takes a drink. "I'm practicing my secret Purple Yell technique!"
no subject
But what else can he do? Well, that can wait for now. As it stands, Kinger should enjoy the drink.
no subject
It could be weird wheat stalks, or... corn? There's a lot of kinds of grass. And mushrooms.

The voice behind him sounds fairly young (teenaged, perhaps), though it comes from a Pokemon well taller than Kinger. Umemiya's a Lucario, one with a green scrap of cloth holding back his aura-sensing tendrils like a sort of headband. Umemiya's restless enough to be sort of walking the Spire and its surroundings tonight instead of sleeping.
no subject
Kinger looks up. He's used to interacting with Caine's big monsters from time to time, but everyone being colossal to him is still new. Still, no need to turn down a friendly face.
"Are you a local, or did you come from somewhere else too?"
no subject
And he is doing a very good job of pretending to never-ever be homesick at all, thank you very much.
"From the question, I'm guessing you've been pulled here on the more recent end."
no subject
Kinger looks back out at the sea, lost in what few memories he could conjure up.
"Before here, I was stuck in a digital world for a long time. So it's nice to feel real sea air again."
no subject
Umemiya is from a pretty mundane canon, so every once in a while the weird shit hits him right in the face.
no subject
Kinger looks up at Umemiya. "My name's Kinger. I had a normal name on Earth, but the digital world made us all forget it."
